FishDuck Article Administrator No. 1 Share Posted December 31, 2024 Here we are, the day before arguably the third-most important game in Oregon history (the two National Title games being the biggest, of course), and how the heck are we feeling, Oregon fans? Even Mr. FishDuck has the jitters, and took time from his fun at Pin-Up Casino to share his intensity for this game. Of course, we are feeling ... The Time is Now For Oregon Football | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM Darren Perkins of FishDuck.com believes the Ducks should just take care of business and win the National Title this year. 2 1 1 Two Sites: FishDuck and the Our Beloved Ducks forum, The only "Forum with Decorum!" 30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted December 31, 2024 Great article, D Perk! D Perk, that's the very clever way that the media is coming up with nicknames now. No "dominant team"? Except maybe the one team that didn't lose a game? But that doesn't mean that I don't agree with this being the time for Oregon to win that oh so elusive Natty! It would be so satisfying to put the trophy up and tell the Huskies they're half a championship from 33 years ago is "nice". About those trophies? It's ridiculous to me that Alabama & Michigan are even playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Seriously? You're the winningest team ever, Michigan. You won the Natty last year. If Saban had any thoughts of regretting his decision to retire, he just has to watch that. Can you imagine the type of sick he'd feel watching Roll Tide jumping around and celebrating that win? Would hoisting the ReliaQuest Trophy convince DeBoer it was all worth it? So, OBD, Just Win it now!
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 3 Share Posted December 31, 2024 Thank you, Darren. Record for the legit PO trophy contenders to date, vs. the Committee's final Top 25. Georgia - 3-2 - Conference Champion/ Ohio State - 3-1 plus a loss to Michigan./ Notre Dame - 2-0 with a G5 loss / Penn State - 1-2/ Texas - 1-2. OBD - 4-0 - Conference Champion - Wins vs. No. 4 Penn State, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 9 Boise State, and No. 20 Illinois. If OREGON played in the SEC, finished 13-0, 4-0 vs. the Top 25, and was the SEC Conference Champion ranked No. 1 by the Committee, would most of the nation conclude there are no exceptional teams this season? "But you would not be undefeated in the SEC!" I know Oregon would not have 4 wins over the Top 25 with Texas' lousy schedule but give OBD this schedule, including Georgia in Autzen, and 13-0 is doable. OBD will have to go 16-0, win the Natty, and match a record that Yale posted in 1894! (OBD will not match this feat - Yale 465 points/ Opponents 13 points WOW! I believe that THIS is untouchable.) And then? There will still be naysayers claiming that the 16-0 record with a National Championship isn't legit because - Fill In The Blanks. To Hades with all of the naysayers! There will not be an asterisk in the record books. BLAST BRUTUS! CHOP CHIPPER! DESTROY WILL'S WILL, + MAKE IT A TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY FOR WITTLE RYAN! 1 1 1
jrw Moderator No. 4 Share Posted December 31, 2024 I say it's well past time for us to stop looking for validation from the "experts" and for pats on the head from ESPN and other blathering heads: the Ducks program is 100% legit and here to stay. I know it, you know it, and the chattering classes know it, but just can't bring themselves to say it. We don't need their stinkin' approval. Instead, look at the numbers that matter, 13-0, and ranked #1. And, look at what the recruits say and do; they know what's going on at Oregon and they want in. So, win or lose tomorrow, we know what we have here, and so do the people who matter now, not the geezer gatekeepers who think they still decide what's what in college football. 2 4

Do we need to say more. 1 2 2
EagleScoutJim No. 6 Share Posted December 31, 2024 It is consistently hilarious (and frustrating) that the talking heads can’t seem to make their minds up about OBD. It strikes me that all the waffling and betting siding with tOSU may honestly represent fear - fear that the traditional perspective of blue bloods ultimately winning out is in serious jeopardy. The Ducks ascendancy represents a shift in how college football is played and teams are managed in the 21st century. With the rise of the portal, NIL, and players having more control over their own college careers, the Apple Cart is being upset in real time. This reality has pushed commentators and fan bases alike outside of their comfort zones. What is left for an SEC or B1G homer to do but decry and minimize the successes this year of teams like OBD and even ASU? 1

GeotechDuck No. 10 Share Posted January 1 (edited) Do you think if Oregon wins it all, ESPN will finally figure out where the No.1 team in the nation actually plays home football games?? Edited January 1 by GeotechDuck 1
