Posted Yesterday at 03:19 PM1 day Administrator No. On3 put out an article this morning where they discussed the major candidates for the Florida job. The surprise to me was Jeff Brohm of Louisville was one of the three, fresh off the upset of Miami. If Brohm left the Cardinals, then I could see Will Stein "going-home" to his, and his wife's alma mater. That was a potential domino that I didn't see coming...Josh Pate has his CFB ranking, and he put Oregon at No. 3 in the nation....ahead of all the known names, and right behind Ohio State and Indiana. I enjoy his love, but frankly....30Duck was pointing out to me that the best Duck win to date is....unranked 5-2 Northwestern? The others in the top ten have a better resume' at the moment, but I appreciate Josh's support of Our Beloved Ducks. Yesterday at 03:35 PM1 day No. Could eventually have egg on my face for saying this, but Will Stein strikes me as the OC-for-Life type. Not that he won't make the jump and give it a shot, I just don't get the HC vibe from him. With Kenny Dillingham it was obvious from his first interview that he would be leaving Oregon for an HC job if he was a successful OC.
Yesterday at 03:50 PM1 day No. IMO with all of the HC openings (and more to come) and the absolutely stupid $$ being tossed around, there’s almost zero chance we won’t need a new OC.I choose to embrace it…the days of a 5 year OC are pretty much gone for us. Yesterday at 04:13 PM1 day No. The Pate ranking is based on his computer model which still gives credit to the Penn St road victory.
Yesterday at 06:24 PM1 day No. Stein and Louisville?I believe Louisville's QB this season is a senior. His backup, a junior, has appeared in 3 games and attempted 9 passes total.I imagine if Stein went to Louisville at least one guy on the Oregon roster would follow him.Brohm has also been an assistant and a head coach in the Big Ten. Penn State likely also has him on their possibilities list.

Same for Brohm's first season QB Jake Plummer, and last season's QB Tyler Shough.Brohm can coach! He took Purdue from a doormat to a team that contended every week. I think Charles' call is spot on. If Brohm can be lured away from his alma mater, Will will be heading back home.
23 hours ago23 hr Moderator No. Stein to Louisville is one HC move that would make sense. It is "home" to him and his family. A program he could build and recruit to in an ACC where FSU and GeoTech are intermittently good, Clemson is fading and Mariø's U always loses one head scratcher a season. He could build a perennial CFP candidate there.Could he take a QB with him? It wouldn't be surprising. Novosad bears more than a passing (no pun intended, unless you think it was) resemblance to Shough and would have two years of eligibility left. If Louisville comes calling, I think WS is gone.

He also has a 4-0 regular season record against top 5 teams in his lifetime. His only top 5 losses in the post-season came in two conference championship games. I see Penn State making a huge push to hire him.

15 hours ago15 hr No. Nobody has any idea if the Ducks are actually any good. The last two times they have been punched in the mouth, they have wilted and not competed. When a Lanning team does poorly, it does so in spectacular fashion. So let's see what happens if we make it to the playoffs and if we have supposedly "won by losing" to Indiana. Until then, nobody knows.

How is it that a school such a as Oregon can go around the nation and poach coaches? Then I heard something on Sirius XM radio yesterday that brought me to the new reality. Oregon has become a destination job. There is a radio show on Channel 83 called College Sports Radio. In the afternoon they have a show called Off Campus with former college and NFL players Jacob Hester and EJ Manuel as hosts. They did a segment with one of their guests where they listed the top six college football programs that nobody should ever turn down. Their exact quote was "If one of these schools call, you take the job". In no particular order they all agreed that LSU, UGA, Bama, Ohio State Notre Dame and Oregon fell into that category. Everybody always knew Oregon has great resources with Nike's backing, but I think reality set in when Dan Lanning said he wasn't interested in leaving for Alabama or any other job. Add the fact that many coaches around the nation are never able to hide their envy when talking about Oregon's "vast resources" and "unlimited NIL money". If Oregon is ever in need of a new coach or coordinator there will be a line at the AD's door waiting for an interview.

He left a B1G job to coach his alma mater. However, I think he would leave if he thought that their commitment to winning a national championship wasn't on par with those who are offering him a job.

Notre Dame may as well be in the Power 2 and would be if the Domers asked the B1G or the SEC for an invitation. No Miami, FSU, Clemson, or UNC. (And BTW, what in Hades happened to roundball on Tobacco Road?)Week after week, the SEC, B1G, and Notre Dame dominate the TV-viewer ratings. To the list of teams that have the resources and the will to win from the top down, I'd add Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and perhaps, Florida. Michigan also has the resources, as do Penn State and USC.The B12 is No. 4 in the Power 4 and fading. The games in the conference are exciting, but the close to entire top-to-bottom parity does not equal multiple teams in the CFB playoffs. However, it only takes one guy to buy a competitive roster, like Cody Campbell at Texas Tech. The restructuring of the ACC, in particular, is simply a matter of time, and teams will be left behind, ala Oregon State and Wazzu. This is why I think Jeff Brohm could leave his Mother Ship for a job in the SEC, or if promised the resources, a return to the B1G. Jeff Brohm at Penn State would be scary. Great post, thank you.

We're just now seeing the fruits of the influx of oil money that has been getting pumped into that program. They will be a player for years to come. I think what makes Oregon attractive is not just Nike's money, but their vast experience in sports marketing. A&M proved you can buy the best players, but if you don't manage your NIL correctly it can be disastrous.
