Posted 19 hours ago19 hr Administrator No. Set your DVRs if you can't watch, and I look forward to learning about this new team. Crap...I forgot to print off the roster before leaving the office, as we have a ton of new faces to watch for.The 22 year old Chinese point-guard, Wei Lin, sounds interesting, as does Oleksandr Kobzystyi, a 6'8" senior transfer from Kremenchuk, Ukraine!Gotta hope Nate Bittle has a great year! Hawaii’s starting center is Issac Johnson (ex-Duck). Hawaii’s 6’7” PG is out this game, so that should help the Ducks a little. I expect this will be closer than the spread, but Ducks should be able to win. 🤞

Horrible ball possession, horrible effort on the boards at times, once again Altman has recruited a lot of guys who might have athleticism but they can't shoot the ball worth a lick, I really don't understand how he can keeps recruiting these types of players who can't hit a open shot. I know we're missing Shelsted, but this team looked like a team that will struggle to get to 18 wins and a NIT berth. Simpkins at least tried, and he came up big with the winning shot, I'm not wowed by him, he looks like another slasher who can't shoot, I'll never understand why we bring in transfers who aren't high 30s or 40s 3point shooters when that is what we are in desperate need of. Wei Lin was a liability tonight, awful job being a PG, looked like he had no idea what he was supposed to do, just playing street ball.Looks like Evans will be out for a while.I like Stewart, he should get some more run. Demir is a project, obviously is a hoss, but he's a bull in china shop right now.If Hawaii could shoot at all they would have won by 10.

With Shelstad back, the ball movement will be better, and the turnovers will be much less. A very raw team that has good upside, and I like some of the depth, but as noted by spartan--a ton of growth needs to take place.Oregon won 60-59, and was fortunate to do so after having an eleven point lead blown, but we will take it. 14 hours ago14 hr No. I'm probably being harsher than I should, but it was a really ugly game, I also just hate watching teams who don't shoot well. Some of it was bad ball movement, some was just bad shooting.Shelsted will help a lot.One positive was Drew Carter, I don't think he has much offensive potential, but he does understand his role, got the ball moving, and generally played smarter than any of the other guards.I will also say that Simpkins and Lin aren't scared of the moment, they certainly try to make things happen, and I think Simpkins could be decent as a 4th optionReally hope Evans isn't out for a long time, but it didn't look good.

I don't know that for a fact but he was walking around in the locker room."Altman also said on postgame radio that he didn't believe that Evans' injury was too serious.

5 hours ago5 hr Moderator No. Five items are: Evans injury, Simpkins offense, turnovers (UGLY), walk-on Carter at point, Bittle in the paint.Five items of note from Oregon's one-point regular season opening win over Hawaii

(I am 74, white and short)I really want him to be good, he's a fun player to watch, he has flair to his game, but he just doesn't look like he has had much high level coaching. I was at the game and every time he did something wrong I was looking at Altman who looked like he wanted to throttle him.
1 hour ago1 hr No. Feels like another "DA will have them playing well in March" kind of team, that will lose in the round of 32

We also never seem to get impactful freshman even when they are 5 stars. Last year was frustrating mostly due to TJ Bamba forgetting how to shoot, if he had just shot as well as his averages from the previous 3 seasons we would have been a vastly better team. We haven't upgraded anywhere on the team, and we might have regressed in multiple spots. We don't have a good backup point guard, we don't have a dynamic wing who can light it up from deep, our backup center looked worse than Cook (it's early though). I do think we have more depth at the 4 with Evans and Stewart. We'll know a lot more after the Player's Era tourney. Auburn almost lost to Bethune-Cookman so that's something to consider when we play them in the post-Bruce Pearl era.
