9 hours ago9 hr Administrator No. Is Oregon physical enough for the B1G? If you are reading this article you are probably a Duck fan, and your reaction is going to be an emphatic YES! I know our Mr. FishDuck took a break from his preference to bet on sports in AZ to give me an earful of his thoughts, and I imagine many of you ...Is Oregon Physical Enough for the BIG? Two Sites: FishDuck and the Our Beloved Ducks forum, The only "Forum with Decorum!" And All-Volunteer? What a wonderful community of Duck fans!
5 hours ago5 hr No. David, great assessment of OBD's BIG situation. It does not matter what the broadcasting mouth pieces, BIG beat writers, podcasters and fans think of OBD's physicality! I don't think our conference foes feel that way, however, if they do then it is their mistake. On both sides of the ball, with IU the exceptiom, OBD's have dominated our BIG opponents. Numerous Duck mistakes and timely and costly penalties have kept the scores lower.Against Whisky a foolish Matayo hold kept 7 off the board on the fake punt TD. And DL with 2 minutes to go and the ball at or inside the Whisky 10 yard line chose to take a knee to run out the clock. Final score could have easily been 35-7.IU, tOSU, USC and every SEC team would have run up the scoreWe all just witnessed the points OBD's left off the board against Iowa.David what matters to me about perception is the CFP perception. Does playing physical, in back to back rain and wind storms matter? Or is it blow out wins? It seems we must play to a certain level of their expectations.Does this ESPN, store bought committee feel if OBD's don't win by 21 points or more that they underpormed and now are undervalued?Does the person on the committee who is responsible for watching the Duck game just report another lackluster performance by the Duck O?That is what matters. DL and the Ducks will take care of 95% of the BIG opponents. We cannot do anything about the CFP candles in the wind commmittee members. At this point, this Duck fan does not feel welcome in the BIG. Espdcially when we beat tOSU, UM and PSU. UPSTART INTERLOPERS! But i am not in this for a friendship ring. This fan supports OBD's for wins and titles and Natty rings. GO Ducks! It's whack a gopher time. Bring the A+ game, settle the issue by halftime and give the #3's more playing time.
4 hours ago4 hr No. LOL......last year Oregon went unbeaten in the BIG.....this year so far one loss. Oregon needs to keep doing what it is doing and eventually things will happen.....hope to get a few of those NC trophies.
3 hours ago3 hr Administrator No. "We may sport a 'B1G' badge on our uniforms, but make no mistake, we are interlopers in this conference and we are not welcome here."The officiating highlighted the above quote from your article. Inviting Oregon to the conference would help everyone's bottom line, (most important) and the Ducks would be an entertaining new complement to the B1G. Oregon was assumed to simply be a shiny new object, a novelty to the conference. Then the Ducks go and win the conference in football, win the most Big-10 championships in all sports over the Blue-Bloods in 2024...our first year? NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.A flood of delayed reactions are being directed at Oregon, from the other conference members, and... Mr. FishDuck
3 hours ago3 hr No. Good news... We did just make Iowa hate us and not just for our uniforms. We blocked them from a playoff shot completely now because that's loss number 3. Their other two losses are to in-state and out of conference rival Iowa State and historical B1G member Indiana. We are the newcomer that ruined their playoff chances.
3 hours ago3 hr No. This is a narrative pushed by the lazy media and, as you mentioned, I doubt it will ever change. Is Ohio State’s physicality questioned? The Buckeyes like to get the ball out in space to their talented wide receivers and they have not been able to run the football this year. Of all of the traditional B1G powers, I believe that Oregon most resembles Ohio State’s roster and playing style (albeit with a slight talent disadvantage and a defense that is not quite as dominant). Michigan and Penn State are definitely the more traditional B1G style of play.
2 hours ago2 hr No. All of these observations is simply because Oregon has been ready to compete with the best in the nation for quite awhile now. Since Slick Willie we have recruited, and developed NFL caliber players. (Just watch one weekend of NFL football and see how many names you hear from Oregon). The problem was being "locked in" the PAC12, notorious for getting no media respect and cannabilizing each other, especially "after dark". Where a two loss Alabama, Georgia, Ohio St still had a shot at the 4 team playoff, the PAC was never given the same consideration. Even One loss was viewed "as suspect", depending on who it was against (wash st., cal, etc.).So, "TV" collapses the PAC and Oregon/Washington (thrown a bone) to come and play with the B1G boys. The chance Oregon had desperately been looking for, for years, to legitimize the quality of the program. With a new and ambitious coach, Oregon took its opportunity and ran with it! (Especially last week, all over Iowa😁).This was not suppose to be. Because of the "narrative" about the PAC, and it's "flashy" perennial leader Oregon, and that Oregon was just that....flash and no bite and we have, resoundingly, repeatedly, made them "eat their words". And this has and continues to leave a bad taste on their mouths. OBD is NOT making friends in their new conference and in fact painting a huge target on their backs (Indiana game comes to mind), something I believe OBD haven't quite come to realization and/or grips with. But they will.Ten years from now ( With D. Lanning still leading the way) after several conference championships and a Natty or two all anyone will think about the Ducks is, "Boys...this is the game of the year for us...beat Oregon and you will prove we have become legitimate contenders". Because you will have to be "legitimate" to beat OBD!🦆🏈🪨's
1 hour ago1 hr Moderator No. DM, you told Noah about The Flood, and he listened! 😁Another great and spot-on take, thank you.I do note that Oregon, with its flash and dash Nike marketing and complementary playing style, was respected but certainly not liked in the Real Pac-12 and across the nation.Uncle Phil was the only 'booster' supporting a team. 🤑Want proof? Ask Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss, er, Auburn, er, in the Unemployment Line. Don't ask $cam, he didn't know he was out for bid, right? If they can't take a joke and a pounding ... 🤬I did find Kirk Ferentz's post-game comments to be gracious. If anyone knew how good a win this was, it was Kirk.
