I'm Rooting For Ohio State...

...To beat Michigan.

I firmly believe that it would be in Oregon's best interest for Ohio State to take care of business against their hated rivals in the Michigan Wolverines.

Should the Buckeyes lose to them again, it could create a scenario where the Men of Oregon back themselves into the B1G Championship Game. Unlikely, yes, but possible. This is exactly what we DON'T want to happen, friends. Why, you may ask? Well, here's a few reasons.

A HOME PLAYOFF GAME: We all want this. Can you imagine a more electric atmosphere than a CFP game in Autzen Stadium?! That would be an absolute NIGHTMARE for the poor souls on the other side. Speaking of which...

•A Favorable Matchup: If we can secure the #6 or #7 seed, we would get either the Group of 5 rep or the ACC champ most likely. Either way, I like our chances to win, advance, get tuned up and possibly catch fire. But the MAIN reason we need to root for Ohio State to take care of business?

Injuries: We're banged up. Badly. Our WR core has been decimated. Our Offensive line is holding on for dear life. We need to beat those datgum Huskies, then we need time off so we can get HEALTHY. Have you guys seen the amount of players we have on the shelf right now?! My GOODNESS!

Well, I've laid out my case, but all of this won't amount to a hill of beans unless OBD dispatches those Mutts up North (You'll get no love for the Huskies from me).

So let's handle our business, and hope that Ohio State handles theirs!

I can’t root for Ohio State. Just can’t.

Spot On!

Does anyone recall the ohio state university finishing in 4th place in the Big Ten, and OBD defeating Penn State to go undefeated and win the B1G title, instead of remembering The Ohio State University winning the 1st 12-team playoff title?

(The Buckeyes also won the first 4-team PO, defeating a team I can't recall, to win it all. 🤬)

Georgia will also be happy to watch Bama play A&M in Atlanta and have QB Gunner Stockton healthy for a PO run.

These title games should be flex-scheduled and played on the final week of the regular season.

Neuter the Fuskies!

No chance of rooting for Ohio state in any situation.

Can both teams lose? The only reason I would have any interest in seeing a winner, is if Michigan could keep Miami out of the playoff. But I think Super Mario will take care of that on their own. Pittsburgh is disciplined enough to beat the sloppy Hurricanes. It's also going to be pretty cold.

The brain says just slide into the playoffs as #3 BIG team and get a home game but the heart screams back to back BIG champs in two years Hell yes!

Normally, I couldn't either. The two greatest seasons Oregon's ever had ended at the hands of Ohio State. But in this situation? It would certainly help us, which is my main concern.

OBD went 13-0 and won the B1G in their first season in the conference, while beating all the top powers in the process, and literally NOBODY CARES because of what happened in the Rose Bowl.

All good points, but define “helps us”. The conference potentially getting 4 teams in the playoff would definitely help us financially and with recruiting versus the SEC for conference supremacy narratives.

That being said, in the here and now, conference championship games are a penalty if you’re already in as an at large host. Either path leads to being 4 games away from a championship, (up to 5 more (!) if you lose the B1G game), but one of those paths includes a home game

Pretty sure I prefer the path with a home game and a cap of 4 more games.

Breaker, Breaker! We don't want a B1G tiebreaker!

AP - You need a CFB knowledgeable person to help you out. There is No Way that Indiana can lose to Washington this week. (And OBD ain't losing either!)

The Hoosiers play at Purdue, and if the bus doesn't break down, Indiana will not lose.

Excuse You.

It's tiebreaker time: A guide to the conference champions...

With one week remaining, almost every conference title game spot is still up for grabs across the FBS.

Also, occurs to me that with the new seeding format a 3 game post season path is now possible. Conference champions aren’t guaranteed anything other than entry into the tournament. Say all goes to form, UI beats tOSU and we beat UW handily…pretty good chance that at 11-1 with our only loss being to undefeated 13-0 UI, that could land us in the top-4.

My main concern is not having to play that CCG game so that our guys have a chance to get healthy. That certainly helps us.

Besides that, a playoff game at Autzen Stadium could be just what we need to kickstart a run similar to what we saw last year from Ohio State.

We don't need the B1G Championship this year. Sure, it would be cool to win it back-to-back, but it doesn't really serve our interests.

I have a solution to this playoff mess. Make the conference championship game part of the playoff. The top two teams in each P4 conference play during championship weekend for the conference title. Four at-large teams will also play each other that weekend. Eliminate the FBS requirement and get the four best at-large teams.

There will be six teams left after championship weekend. The two top ranked teams get a bye while the other four play each other the following Saturday at 3:30 ET and 7:30 ET after the 12:00 ET Army Navy game. The Final four will then be played on NYD with the National Championship being played on the second Monday after NYD (like old times).

Now, there will inevitably be teams left out because the ACC and Big 12 will automatically get two teams in due to their conference championship game. However, this happens in the NFL all the time due to the requirement for each division champion to qualify for the playoffs. The CFP can increase to 16 teams and still keep the same timeline if they choose. The top two ranked teams just wouldn't get a bye during the second week.

I don't mind them in. Keep Mari in Miami is working so far.

Who would you rather play in round 2, osu or Indiana? I prefer Indiana but if they beat osu in the BIG CShip, then they will be the No. 1 seed. So, just play our way in, host a playoff, get healthy AND RUN THE DAMN TABLE.

I’m with you. Just pointing out there are some pretty big pluses in the macro if we somehow make the conference title game. I’m personally not in accounting with the athletic department, so windfalls don’t really get me anything selfishly.

The path with a home game is probably the easier path with the current format, so that is 💯 what I want!

This is one downside to the conference championship game. The other is losing and being eliminated from the playoff.
