7 hours ago7 hr Administrator No. Let’s get one thing out of the way real quick. This past weekend, the Oregon football program had some of the WORST circumstances to execute a major win against the high-flying Trojans. Oregon’s pass rush had failed one of the country’s best run defenses, the defense looked suspect against premier wide receivers when playing Indiana, and tons of injuries on ...Oregon Football: The X-Factor Vs. 4 hours ago4 hr No. My X-Factor is OBD's offensive line to dominate the puppies up north this Saturday. Regardless of who can play!Granted the run game slowed down a little as the Ducks went deep down the depth chart to field the O Line. There were no bad snaps and except for one play they kept the pocket clean. This allowed Dante to operate within the pocket. This game was won because a makeshift O Line went on a 6 minute plus drive to eat clock, score a touchdown and build a 14 point lead. And regardless of past games, this time the Duck D did not let SC get back into it. They helped close out this game.I expect more of the same this Saturday.......About the Duck D......This may have been their best game since the IU game. The Duck D played IU very well. They even put points on the board. 20-20 in the 4th quarter was because of the D. For some reason WS, instead of going on a 6 minute drive to take the lead tried for a quick score and gave IU an easy 10 points.Against SC the Ducks D completely took away the run game and minimized the short pass. Forcing the Trojans to a one play option, the 50/50 ball.In rewatching the game twice, i could not find a play where the receiver was open deep for a clean TD pass. The Duck secondary covered tight! On 3 passes, you can clearly see the push off by the SC receivers to gain separation. The refs swallowed their whistle and kept the flag in their pockets. Those plays accounted for over 100 yards. How did the refs miss those push offs?If the Duck Defender put hands on then it was pass interference. BS. Call it both ways.Best of all the front 7 did not let the QB have time to wait for the deep route to break open. The pressure forced SC QB to just throw in the general direction or else be sacked. That's good defense. More of the same please. All the pressure will be on the Ducks against the huskies. Let's hope the walking wounded can rule the day.Happy Thanksgiving to Fish Duck nation......Go Ducks......

2 hours ago2 hr Moderator No. I think the defensive strategy this year has been miss diagnosed as a poor pass rushing attack and over looks the suffocating monster that it has become. They are still getting good pressure on the QB but not with a ton of blitzes or gambling edges that lose contain. Instead QB scrambles and explosion plays have been nearly eliminated except for a couple long completions a game which can happen. It's football.USC was tailor made to make this defense to look bad with their ability to win 50/50 battles for catches yet were still held well below their season averages including points. With a mobile QB like the fuskies have, I think this D is exactly what they fear. Contained solid pressure up front with elite DBs sticking with receivers.I don't think UW or almost anybody has an answer for the Ducks run game. I'm looking forward to a methodical dismantling of the purple pups this week.

1 hour ago1 hr Administrator No. On offense--I'd love to see drives like the final TD that bled a ton of clock, but I am realistic. Washington does not have great pass defense; they can be moved on by the air as well as on the ground. While Oregon has not had the majority of the WRs in the last two games....they adjusted just fine with utilizing "The Beast," Jamari Johnson, Benson, and some McClellan for more than enough balance.I think a balanced attack will score just fine on the Bastard Huskies, and if the defensive line shuts down their run-game and contains Williams...we will do just fine. But that is a lot of requests!Fun article....THANKS Alex! Mr. FishDuck
1 hour ago1 hr No. We are a poor matchup for UW. Not to say they could never lead or never stress us, but our scheme severely limits their strengths, and then they are left being an above average team playing against tier 1 talent. Now if they come at us with a completely different approach than they've used all season they could give us real trouble for the first half, but it's unlikely.

He certainly won't throw many 50/50 balls, if any. And he likes an easy exit from the pocket. It's a tough matchup for him against our D. The one thing I'll say is if we put a spy on Demond it can't be Bryce or 54, that's too much of a speed mismatch. It has to be Jackson or Thienman.
