Dan Lanning Makes Unprecedented Move With Oregon Running...

Despite entering the transfer portal earlier this week, Oregon running back Jay Harris is available for the Ducks in the College Football Playoff Semifinal matc

This is great news given the Davison injury. He is listed at 6’2” and 224 lbs. giving Oregon a short yardage/power back.

He's the closest runner we have to Davison since the beginning of the season. Not nearly as much wiggle, but he has the size and speed. He should do a commendable job replacing Davison in 2 RB sets, pass blocking and bruising runs up the middle.

This is probably his last chance to play in a game of national significance. He could play out of his mind increasing his NIL/portal stockon the biggest stage. It's like Lanning says, any given week someone new will show up. Let's hope it is Harris.

Lanning isn't saying why he made this exception for Harris to play despite being in the portal. I assume he saw the need was significant and Harris is a fellow Show Me State individual with good intentions who could potentially be the difference maker in this game.

I just saw Whittington is from Georgia, so he is excited about playing in front his hometown. I really hope he plays out of his mind too. He's done it before and been unstoppable as a runner and receiver.

Thank you Jay Harris for your honoring commitment to your team!

I hope you get some good runs and blocks in this game to increase your value in the portal.

Oregon, give this kid a raise and an opportunity to stay next yr if he chooses.

Go Ducks, I think we can beat them!

Jayden Limar, thanks for what you have given these years and good luck. Maybe Lane Kiffin will take you on his scout team.

Harris is a very good pass catcher, so they can use his versatility.

Could end up being an audition for a more significant role wherever he lands... Play well enough, and he may even earn a return to OBD, if that is still on the table.

We live in weird college football times.

In the end, showing some loyalty to your team may add more NIL value due to character than ditching them mid playoff run will. Potentially scoring the championship winning touchdown wouldn't hurt either. Here's to hoping "Harris was down!" is the Miami barstool lament for years to come.

Given that we're going to make it to national championship game, does anybody know if he can stick around for that one too?

I just can't imagine getting that far and walking away. However, money is a powerful and motivating tool.

If Oregon makes it to the championship game, I think that will be played on January 19th. Transfer portal closes on January 16th so Harris would be gone by then (unless for some reason he decides to withdraw his name from the portal and stay at Oregon).

Some misinformation in this thread. Dan is the one that prevents portal players from playing in any more games.

The portal window is just the window to enter. You can still be picked up by a team after the portal closes.

The portal termination date is extended for playoff teams.

Portal extension for players in the national title game.

Also portal extension for anyone who loses their HC after the portal window closes.

Still sucks for players since it's so late, most spots on teams will be already taken up by other transfers.

I was under the impression that there was a short extension for players participating in the playoff... ?
