I wonder if he was 'asked' to resign?

New OC for the ducks?

I think he’ll go back to the NFL. He’ll be in demand as a coordinator. As for who replaces him, Tom Herman and Brian Harsin are still out there.

Class act, good coach.

Thanks Coach Shaw for those epic battles for Pac supremacy. Stanford is a difficult school to take to the top let alone stay there.

He was the right coach for Stanford. He understood the school's principles and football there.

Excellent coach. Seems like he hasn’t been able to recruit those athletes to put Stanford in the upper tier that Always was the case just A few years ago.

They were always a tough out.

Good luck to him, my respect for him is high level.

Nothing but respect for Coach Shaw. I know three guys who played for him and they hold him with the highest regard and respect.

He has represented Stanford, and the Pac-12, extremely well.

Best wishes to him in the next phase of his life.

Wow!  That’s a shocker!

This isn't surprising at this point. Shaw is a good coach and he will probably take a year off before looking for another job.

Stanford just isn't competitive in terms of roster management in this day and age if college football. They lose to the portal and never really gain and they've always had to restrict their recruiting to players who meet their difficult academic standards.

Staford is simply not competitive anymore.

Shaw is a gentleman and was a pretty fair coach.  He coached his team to some big wins and some good seasons while laboring under some pretty tough recruiting standards higher than most universities.  I think he's probably had his fill of this nasty business of collegiate, semi-professional, minor league football - once known as amateur sport.  Good luck to him in his next career wherever that may be.  He's one of College footballs good guys, imo.
