Given what the article lays out, it would seem that Herbert didn't really care that much, though; he just wanted the Ducks to win, regardless of his role in the process. He's the opposite of the "me first" athlete.

January 12, 20232 yr Excellence with humility is something our qb's have had for a while. I can imagine one of the reasons Johnny Football thought about coming to Oregon, but decided to go elsewhere. He wouldn't have fit in. Nix fits in, Ty has a chance because he has some of the same traits. The new guy seems to have a bit of it. Time will tell who will keep the tradition going.
