As a stand alone.... Yeah they look cool. But this is game 6 we have worn black with only green or yellow as an accent color and not the main event. In exhausted of it.

My high school summer job was as a compass man working with a timber cruiser in the foothills above Remote. Beautiful rhododendron among the Douglas fir forests.

In a word, no. I loved the old 'midnight green' look. But this is not good. An all dark green theme would have been great. Or if the jersey and pants matched the helmet - green with black trim, that would have worked as well. Or if they insist on the black look, then take the green off the helmet and make it silver. OK, black jersey, silver helmet and silver pants - at least that would look coordinated, even if no where near team colors. But I could be totally wrong -what matters is what it looks like on the field.

And pass receivers wearing black will not show up very well while racing away from a quarterback searching for them through the upraised arms of onrushing defenders. When will the uniform gurus realize that because black does not reflect light it’s difficult to see? Maybe it will make for more interceptions.

For the second time in its last three games, UO’s one-two punch of Katie Fiso and Mia Jacobs turned in 20-point scoring efforts with 22 and 20 points, respectively. That, in addition to 10 points off the bench from Avary Cain and 13 rebounds from Ehis Etute, helped the Ducks pick up their first road win of the season and extend their season-opening winning streak to five games. “This was a good win,” UO coach Kelly Graves said. “First time on the road, I thought we responded pretty well. We got a great start and then went from there.” Oregon’s offense, which went 2-for-9 from the 3-point line in the first half, went 9-of-15 in the second for its best 3-point shooting game of the season. Five different players drilled a triple, led by a season-high five from Jacobs who connected on 4-of-5 tries in the second half. “We had a lot of players play really well,” said Graves. “Ehis (Etute) had a mini-breakout game for her, … eight offensive rebounds, my goodness sakes. And it was nice to see Avary (Cain) have a good game.” Etute flirted with her first career double-double, as she had nine points in addition to her career-high 13 boards off the bench. “She’s really good,” Graves said of Etute. “She can go out and dominate because she’s so quick and so strong. She’s our fastest player and she’s our strongest player; that’s a good combination.” How It Happened: The Ducks hit their first three shots of the game, two from the hands of Fiso, in jumping out to a 6-0 lead to start the day. UO missed its next four shots, giving the Cougars an opportunity to tie the game, 6-6, before another Fiso bucket reclaimed the lead for the Ducks. Oregon finished the quarter on a 10-0 run to lead 19-11, getting 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from Fiso. The Ducks misfired on their first seven field goal attempts while WSU was 1-of-6 to begin the second quarter. Sarah Rambus knocked down a jumper nearly four minutes into the frame for UO’s first points and another Fiso basket gave UO a 23-14 lead as the quarter hit the halfway mark. Washington State was held to 8-of-29 shooting in the first half (28 percent), while the Ducks shot at a 48 percent clip in opening up a 35-22 halftime lead. Fiso led all players with 14 points while Jacobs added six and Etute put up five to go with five boards. The third quarter opened with 3-pointers on consecutive trips down the floor by Jacobs and Sofia Bell, opening up a 41-26 lead just two minutes in. Jacobs knocked down another triple just moments later, her third of the day, and knocked down a pair of free throws to stretch the lead to 18. The Ducks finished with 28 points in the third, matching their second-highest scoring quarter of the season as they knocked down 6-of-10 3-point tries. Jacobs scored 11 in the quarter while Fiso pitched in eight to raise her game total to 22, leading Oregon to a 63-42 lead after 30 minutes of play. The final quarter saw the Ducks shoot at a 64 percent clip, including 3-of-5 from downtown to put their second-half total to 9-for-15 from range. Bell, Jacobs and freshman Janiyah Williams each knocked down shots from beyond the arc in the quarter, aiding UO’s 23-17 edge in the fourth. Oregon closed the game on an 11-0 spurt to reach the 80-point mark for the fifth straight game to begin the year. Notable: UO senior guard Astera Tuhina returned to Pullman where she spent three years with the Cougars … The win improved Oregon’s record to 73-22 all-time against WSU, its most wins against any opponent in program history … Freshman wing Sara Barhoum joined Elisa Mevius and Sammie Wagner on the Ducks' list of players designated as out for the game. Good points by all, and perhaps we leaned into some gender territory a bit much. My Duck-Buddies...we have so few rule violations these days, that it is natural that we all slip-up on occasion. My apologies to all the great female OBD members, and readers. We all blow-it sometimes, and last week--I addressed something in a thread with an OBD member that should have been done in private, by email. I broke my own protocol, as even the guy who makes the rules...can stumble. (No excuses....I simply forgot as it had been so long!) We have been correctly notified, and let's move forward, both genders, as passionate Duck fans in a great community.

I'm not easily offended, but I actually take a lot of offense to this. My comment had nothing to do with the gender of the writer, nor was that ever even on my mind. My point was simply that the article will make for motivated players. Brethren felt like a comical word to use in addressing my fellow posters on this site. It's a blackout. Oregon is going with the all black look versus USC this Saturday. Although I have been a little thrown off by the excessive use of black this season, I must admit, I always love the all black combo. The green lids are a nice touch imo, and I like the all black wings. All in all, not my favorite combination ever, but I like it. What do you guys think?

I read an interesting article somewhere that Franklin's move to VT would actually hurt Indiana going forward. A bunch of Curt Cignetti's star players are all from the Virginia area...future recruits may be more inclined to stay in state now that there's a well-established coach there.

Looking at next year's schedule they will be welcomed additions.

This Saturday, Georgia won't lose to Charlotte. The game vs GT is being played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Dawgs will have as many, if not more, fans in attendance than GT. UGA QB Gunner Stockton has the best passing stats among SEC QBs in SEC contests this season. He has every bit of the same moxie that GT QB Haynes King has. Unlike Carson Beck, the team has Stockton's back. Tech, but for a bad, terrible, awful non-call, would have lost at Wake Forest. The close win at home over Clemson was big at the time. Now? I think that Pitt will give Tech all it can handle this Saturday. But it is a rivalry game, so ... Bama holds the champ game tiebreaker over UGA and would have to lose to Auburn for Georgia to be in the champ game. Or, Texas has to defeat A&M. If this happens, I don't know how the SEC tiebreaker would work. After last season, I think Kirby Smart would as soon play a 1st round game at home than play a 13th conference game for an SEC title. Of course, even without an SEC title, Georgia could stay ranked 4th and have a PO bye.
