Prediction Contest for the Civil War Game: Join Us!
Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction of Oregon versus Beavis? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. We Have Two New Rules: If two winning scores are the same? The first one who posted wins, automatically. TerryM9 gets 42-6 locked in every time as his. (I love this guy!) Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 48-13 2 3 251

Which is Worse: A Bye or Beavis?
Terrific question and comments. As noted above, PSU has consumed three cupcakes. In the process, the PSU D looks great, but the O has sputtered in all three games, including QB Drew Allar. The PSU defense has surrendered only two touchdowns, but the offense has scored only 14 touchdowns. Both teams played an FCS opponent. OBD has played two P4 opponents, one on the road. Oregon's stats in the pass and run game are superior to Penn State's, a team that has not played a P4 opponent or left home to play a game. Heading into Week 4, Dante Moore is 3rd in Total QBR with Drew Allar 69th. USA Today notes that Allar, along with Manning, Klubnik, and Nico, has not played up to preseason expectations. (Duh 🤮!) Meanwhile, PSU transfer QB Beau Pribula is lighting it up for Mizzou. I think this season's bye weeks, 6 and 10, are perfect for OBD. Both Indiana and OBD bye in Week 6 before the Hoosiers visit Autzen, and the Week 10 bye comes before the Week 11 game at Iowa. Of course, Penn State is talented enough to flip a switch and put everything together. PSU is 12-8 in White Out games but has won the last five in a row. I hate to take the Corvallis Crud over anything, but I do think a home game for Oregon this Saturday is better than taking a nap. PELT THE BEAVERS!

Pretty much everything that's been said here... precision, effort, play hard and smart. Plus I will say no injuries!

Which is Worse: A Bye or Beavis?
I think a bye does more harm than good for us right now. We've been playing so many different players, I'd be surprised if the average number of snaps for starters is even half a game. Hopefully Oregon State will be another spread the wealth game, where everyone gets a chance to get some reps and keep their chops fresh. There is more risk with a bye to come out flat. Is it possible for PSU to come out slow for a white out game? It's possible. They could bring their emotions but still have their focus be absent, playing sloppy.

Oregon Ducks - OSU Beavers Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
We are a quarter through the 2025 college football season, and there has been some stellar action thus far, with top-10 teams losing and new contenders announcing themselves in the race to the College Football Playoff. Now that the non-conference slate is largely behind us for a lot of teams in the nation, we are getting into some highly impactful games every week, with teams competing for conference hierarchy. That means big games this week in the Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12, all of which we will keep a close eye on this weekend. While the Oregon Ducks are expected to have a relatively easy game against the Oregon State Beavers, favored by 35.5 points, there are other things that Duck fans should be keeping an eye on throughout the weekend. Here are the top games we encouraged everyone to tune into over the next several days. 9 games that Oregon Duck fans should pay attention to in Week 4 of college football

I agree with you Charles. Precision. Pointed, accurate, ruthless efficiency. Just make the beavs hang their head with shame and be in awe of how well oiled a machine OBD are. Give something for PSU to worry about on top of everything else. "How do we break up and rattle them off their game?"

I'd like to see Novosad. I'd also like to see Whittington get in for a few plays and carries.

College Coaching: Dabo Has a Meltdown
Quinn Ewers was an ultra five star when he went into Ohio State in that weird 2021 class. He was seen as a generational talent when he committed in 2019. He had to contest with that weird 2020 senior season . Then he spent one year at Ohio State and sat behind CJ Stroud. He transferred to Texas and actually slang the ball pretty well and got Texas in two playoffs, one being the last ever four team and the next was the Longhorns first year in the SEC. I think people need to respect what Ewers was able to do. Last year he played injured and was called a bum all year. People were saying Texas would've beaten Georgia and Ohio State if Arch was starting. I think we all see Arch wasn't better than a hobbled Ewers last year. Will he get there? Maybe, but it's time to drop the "generational" tag. In the NFL they tried to call Caleb Williams generational, now they're calling him a bust. Let's just see how the season progresses.

College Coaching: Dabo Has a Meltdown
I don't mean to totally trash Arch so early in his career. But...even with the most talented roster Texas has had in recent years, it is clear he is not destined to win a Heisman Trophy. I do believe he has enough to develop into a winning QB at the P4 level, but I said at the time, and will reiterate now, that I breathed a sigh of relief when Arch picked the Horns over the Dawgs. (His high school recruiting highlights seemed very unimpressive to my eye).

Which is Worse: A Bye or Beavis?
Bye, especially for them as they haven't had any real hitting yet, and now two weeks of hitting each other. With this team, I am not worried about teams having byes before playing us. I just want our bye at the right time for us.

Jurrion Dickey Finds a New Home, Diablo Valley (Junior) College...and Then Moves AGAIN?
Back in the day when RBs were king, Willhite was thought to potentially be a Hershal Walker, Marcus Allen, Eric Dickerson level recruit. He was named the HS player of the year over the likes of Marcus Dupree and Bo Jackson. Some services, back in the Prepstar, Superprep, Parade days had him #1 not just at RB but overall. Shocked the college football world flipping to Oregon on signing day. He had run a 10.5 100 meter and 20.8 200 meter in high school and apparently had dreams of running in the 1984 Olympics in LA, planning to pursue both football and track. Track was not near as big at UW and apparently there was some question whether Don James would really allow Willhite out of Spring practice to fully participate. Stories go when there were rumors Willhite was wavering on his UW committment, the Huskies sent their top recruiter down to Sacramento to lock things up on LOI day (Al Roberts) and he arrived at 7am to a Duck assistant coach (Jim Skipper) already there. Roberts reported asked Skipper why he was there and Skipper told him "He never told me no". Anyway, the short version of the rest of the story is he badly injured his hamstring as a high school senior running track and reinjured it at the opening of his first camp. Couldn't run for months and missed both his freshman football and track season. From there, battled injuries, struggled with "conditioning", and the dreaded "attitude" questions. Never recovered his speed with a top 10.92 100 meter time before leaving track, and ended up a fullback at Oregon, playing more finally as a senior where Brooks himself remarked he "had become a pretty good fullback for our team". Ended up his Oregon career with 182 carries for 731 yards (4.0) and 2 TDs. I think I put Willhite at the top because it was during a period of Oregon football I guess is sometimes referred to as "the suffering" from about 1967 to the Independence Bowl in 1989. Oregon went 89-146-6 over the period and without a bowl. The decade prior they had gone 59-38-5 with a Sun and Liberty Bowl. Willhite in 1982 was supposed to be the level of recruit that was going to turn things around. Rich Brooks famously was quoted during a preseason press session in 1987 ending his period of questions with, "Today is the first time in six years I haven't had a Kevin Willhite question." (After the laughter apparently died down, Rich went on to say, "I'm here to tell you Kevin Willhite is a graduate of the University of Oregon and I'm proud of that. He was not a total failure like some writers have said in the past several years." The Willhite saga was a pretty huge deal.)

College Coaching: Dabo Has a Meltdown
Archie Manning was a great QB for the Saints the 80s. ARCH Manning is Archie’s oldest son’s kid—not Eli’s or Peyton’s kid—Cooper’s kid. Have you ever heard of Cooper? Definitely not. I only know Cooper bc I went to Newman School with Peyton since preschool and Cooper was by far the cutest of the brothers. He also wasn’t very good at football. Maybe he took after his mom? 🤷♀️ Regardless, ARCH Manning is not very good.
