  2. EXCLUSIVE: Why Guard TK Simpkins Transferred to Oregon DucksFormer Elon Phoenix combo guard TK Simpkins was named to the All-Coastal Athletic Association Second Team in his junior campaign. He will spend his senior season with the Oregon Ducks and is expected to make an immediate impact in coach Dana Altman's backcourt Oregon Ducks On SIEXCLUSIVE: Why Guard TK Simpkins Transferred to Oregon DucksElon Phoenix transfer and junior combo guard TK Simpkins looks to be the most important offseason acquisition through the transfer portal for the Oregon Ducks.
  3. Oregon enters 2025 season inside top 10 of SP+ rankings from ESPNDespite the youth and inexperience on this Oregon roster, ESPN's SP+ metric still grades them out rather high.
  4. I think Raleigh would be attractive if Charlotte didn't already have a franchise. One of the things that will be of interest to Dundon and others is partially the Moda Center getting upgrades, but also and perhaps even more important creating entertainment district around the Moda Center. This is where it would be more attractive to the City to invest in. There is already pretty good public transit there, but there really isn't anything to do. I would think any upgrades to arena will also be a part of a wider project to reinvigorate the area.
  5. Oregon HC Dan Lanning on quarterbacks checking at LOS: 'You want to teach those moments' Oregon's quarterbacks are checking at the line of scrimmage a lot this fall camp. But, under Dan Lanning and Will Stein, that should come at no surprise.
  6. The fact the Bedford who was the alfa last year before his injury is struggling to start anywhere is surprising. Maybe his injury really took him down a notch or the others are just that good, or a bit of both.

  8. On paper, OBD may be better across the board at nearly every position group. Of course on paper is where SUC fans start their delusion cycle every year so I'd like to see some results before I get too hyped. Still Lanning's trajectory has been trending straight up since day one so I'm leaning towards special year. I think the run game is potentially tops in BIG. That could give the passing game some time to sort itself out. I'm much more confident in both starters and backups for this year's O line. obD
  9. Thank you, Steven. I like Ross Dellinger's reporting, but there are a few gaps in this article, beginning with the state of Tennessee. The Tennessee legislature passed a law signed into law by the governor that prohibits the enforcement of the House settlement in the Volunteer State. (Freudian slip? I originally spelled it: Hose Settlement 😁) Kentucky's athletic department is now a limited liability company (LLC). Except in very rare cases, damages against an LLC are limited to the assets held by the LLC. The university itself, in theory, will not be liable if its athletic department runs amok. Alabama, among other schools, is holding back NIL information, claiming that doing so would violate the athletes' federal right of privacy. The folks at Bama were not aware of this when their commissioner, Greg Sankey, was touting the settlement. Right? After a short period of rejecting all NIL collective deals, NIL Go, the review committee, after being reminded by the House plaintiff attorneys that this was not the deal, backed off. NIL collectives and deals arranged by and between members of a collective are not, ipso facto, verboten. The House settlement provides that all NIL deals with public companies are kosher, except for public companies found to be 'boosters.' Marketing deals with 3rd parties are not new; what is new is the ability via NIL to share the revenue with the players. In the 12 months from Judge Wilkin's approval of the settlement, $20.5 million is the cap that schools can revenue share with their 'student athletes.' Revenue directly shared with any source cannot go over this limit. Dellinger failed to note this salient fact. So, many of the defendants, the once Power 5 conferences' subsidiaries, their member programs, had no intention of following the terms of the settlement and were actively planning ways of looping holes in the terms of the settlement before its approval. Maybe the Pac-2's Theresa Gould was not aware of this, but the other commissioners? Without a collective bargaining agreement between the athletes and 'management,' however defined, the NCAA and its members will not be granted relief from litigation. The Power 5 conferences and the NCAA could and should have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization and found relief from litigation in a federally approved Plan of Reorganization. The House settlement is one more futile attempt by the NCAA to prevent college athletes from being found to be 'employees', even though they are being paid directly by their respective universities. It's simply more NCAA Male Bovine Excrement of Form, as defined by the NCAA over Substance as defined by the world at large, including courts of law. The Emperor has no clothes! Rob Mullens and other intelligent ADs, the leaders of universities, and their legal counsel, cannot see this?
  10. This ranking names OBD's O-line the 4th-best in the conference heading into 2025. Power ranking all 18 Big Ten offensive lines from worst to first Now, Wait a Minute! OBD plays No. 1 Penn State and No. 2 Iowa, so the jury is out before the B1G champ game on 12/6/25. Oregon's O-line gels and plays to its potential, and the starting five could all be drafted in 2026.
  11. Fox names the top 10 B1G football players in 2023. 3 Nits, 2 Bucks, and 2 Ducks - Quack! Who Are The 10 Best Players in The Big Ten Entering The 2025 Season? I wonder what the list will look like on Judgement Day, 12/7/25, when the PO committee releases its final ranking.
  12. The NBA has a rule requiring existing teams the rights to reject new teams in their home territory. The Charlotte's home territory is considered North and South Carolina. I doubt the Hornets are going to OK a move a NBA team in Raleigh. Especially, when the last 2 years they had the lowest attendance in the NBA. I have heard, Raleigh is a college town, not much of a professional team town. The Hurricanes do well enough with attendance, but I'm not sure a city with Duke, UNC and NCST would do well with a NBA team. I'd put in another professional team, that isn't basketball.
  13. I lived in Raleigh from 2011 through 2015. While it may not be a major city yet, it is one of the fastest growing in the US. And there is good reason for that. The climate is fairly mild, outside of a couple hot and humid summer months. The city is highly educated, with Duke, NC State, Wake, and UNC all within a direct shot. At one point I believe Raleigh had the highest percentage of residents holding a masters degree, when compared to all other cities in the US. Cost of living is reasonable, which allows for more activities outside of essentials. In my experience, there is a culture where the city is crazy about their sports teams. The food scene took off while I was living there too. I could see why an NBA would find Raleigh very attractive. I love Raleigh. I have lived in many cities and several different states for work and Raleigh was my favorite (but I did miss seeing Duck games live).
  14. 8/14 update. Much the same, working hard to get back and studying the play book. I was fortunate to have toured the facility. They have a large scale (5' x 5') that they have leg injured players work out on that shows if during certain movements the player is distributing weight 50/50, or compensating by relying on the healthy leg to try and mask the weaker leg and get back on the field sooner. Plus a water treadmill to work out at zero gravity. Oregon Ducks' Dan Lanning Gives Trey McNutt Injury Update
  15. I doubt a move to either Vegas or Seattle. The owners crave the expansion dollars that those cities are bringing to the table. Look at it this way: if the Blazers were to relocate to either city, would Portland be an expansion target? I seriously doubt it. Sadly, if Portland doesn’t step up in terms of facilities, a move to Raleigh or perhaps Nashville is much more likely.
  16. I've been thinking the same thing. He's the only mission critical person on the whole team. The dude shouldn't play a single down more than absolutely necessary to ensure a win. I certainly hope Pickard isn't #2 on the depth chart after fall camp, but I haven't heard anything to make me think otherwise.
  17. I just feel like this OL MUST be better on run blocking, because Moore won't be a Heisman finalist, and there is no Tex Johnson on the outside to work miracles. We need our run game to work the miracles this year and I'm hoping and sensing this is just the O Line to do it.
  18. Actually, the circumstances could be quite similar if the Moda Center is not renovated. There is a precedent in Raleigh that Dundon has enjoyed with the owners of the Lenovo Center and that is a deal to renovate the arena as needed and to develop a 80 acre entertainment district around it. The one thing I have learned from the Raiders, Rams, A's, Hornets and Sonics is that stadiums and arenas matter. All moved because they wanted new facilities. Dundon will move the Blazers if Portland drags their feet on the Moda Center. I do think you are right about Vegas, though. An NBA franchise would solidify them as the Entertainment Capitol of the World, so I think they would give a team anything they wanted to come to move there.
  19. I would say if you ask NBA fans if the Sonics should come back you would have overwhelming support from the common fan, will they not watch the NBA if they don't? No, but I doubt that would be the case for any franchise. NBA does have a black eye, and I'm pretty sure you'll see Seattle awarded a team in the next 5-10 years. The circumstances with Bennett are completely difference compared to this.
  20. What's the next 'arms race' in college sports? Finding ways to legally exceed new rev-share cap - Yahoo Sports Time to get those attorneys' fees check ready (again).
  21. LB info Everything Oregon ILB coach Brian Michalowski said following Ducks 12th fall practice 24/7 recap Oregon Football looking to setttle on a number of linebackers to use in its rotation for 2025 season
  22. "It would be a huge black eye on the league if they did to Portland what they did to Seattle." The NBA already has several facial bruises and doesn't seem to mind. It might upset folks in Portland and Seattle, but I seriously doubt the NBA fan base elsewhere would care. The Sonics left Seattle in 2008 and there hasn't been a groundswell across the NBA fanbase to replace them.
  23. So if Oregon had a culture problem then I guess its safe to assume USC is okay with pistol whipping and evading the police. Got it now.
  24. Doubt it, minority owners have ties to Portland, Dundon is based in Dallas so it isn't like he's bringing a team to his hometown. Raleigh is still smaller than Portland, Charlotte a city that is bigger and also growing has a team that is struggling for attendance, and in the past has lost their team in the past. Jordan would be PISSED if the NBA approved a move to Raleigh. I'm not saying there isn't a chance that the Trail Blazers move, but the move is they will make is to Vegas, if anywhere. It would be a huge black eye on the league if they did to Portland what they did to Seattle. When Dundon bought the Hurricanes people were very worried that he move the team then, he didn't so there is a little precedent there.
  25. Well, kind of.....the State legislature passed a jock tax bill. Zero general fund dollars though.....they want to sell $800 million in bonds based on future player taxes. Generous projections peg these tax estimates at $150 million. Besides, a stadium could cost $2-3 billion. So, the public piece of the deal is necessary but insufficient. So, we need owners who are aggressive and deep-pocketed to fend off the Miller Family in SLC before Portland MLB is even a 50-50 proposition. NOTE: I may be wrong on some of these details since it is more of a hope than a strategy at this point
