  2. I wonder how much "expert opinions" affect betting? That's another reason that drives everyone including the mailman to have an opinion. Some just get to spout it on TV. The Oregon - Indiana line opened early Sunday with the Ducks favored by 14. That has diminished greatly. It is now around 7-1/2 to 8. Obviously a lot of money was flowing in on Indiana to win/cover that early spread, so the spread had to narrow to get more money flowing to the Oregon side of the house ledger.
  3. You're right Charles, I do remember that now that you mentioned it, I don't think (I could be totally wrong) we used it quite as much in a single game as we did against PSU, correct me if I'm wrong.
  4. Unfortunately I think Miami is for real, I don't see another loss on their schedule, I certainly don't see two losses. It will be interesting to see who they play in the ACC title game, if they play Georgia Tech I think the Yellow Jackets could upset them. They'll be in the playoff this year. One thing is that I don't think Cristobal is getting in the way of his OC this year, I could be wrong, but that team look like a legit top 5 team. Hope I'm wrong and Charles is right though!
  5. We will be adding Miami to this list, as Cristobal will blow it eventually. How? I'm sure Mario will figure it out...
  6. It is a new/old wrinkle, as we ran it under Helfrich in 2014 with Freeman and Tyner, and then later with Joe Moorhead as OC. The Oregon Offense: The Powerful Moorhead ISO Play
  7. Running back #0 Jordon Davison. Running back #23 Dierre Hill Jr. Outstanding true Freshmen! Lots of natural talent. They are both responding very well to college coaching and the college game!
  8. I did not have a backlink order for Monday... With all the vices I have...gambling is not one of them. Never actually been on any of those sites, but gotta link them to pay the bills!
  9. Hard to say, I think I might actually lean Texas. Penn St. I don't think is a fraud, I think they just had one of those weeks where their focus completely left them and they got hit by a team that was playing with a new look on life. They got completely hood winked by a offense that was a different look, Nico at QB was let off the chain to do what he does best which is the scramble game. Clemson is doing what Clemson always does now, they maybe would have only two losses right now instead of three normally, but they aren't really doing anything different from what they've been doing for the last 5 or so years. Texas is probably the biggest disappointment considering the talent coming back, they should be much better in every facet of the game, but they haven't executed at all. To lose against a Florida team that looked dead in the water is inexcusable. Sark has usually been seen as a QB whisperer, but Arch is so far from a playoff caliber QB that it is shocking to see a player that hyped look so lost when he isn't beating down lower level opponents..

  11. The two RB look that they've started using with Hill and Davidson is probably the best wrinkle they've added in a long time to the offense. It helps that Davidson is such a great lead blocker. Reminds me a little of when West Virginia had their heyday with Steve Slaton and Owen Schmitt. Hill and Davidson are much better than those two, but the way they play is similar in that two RB look.
  12. Time will tell on this one. Vegas betting lines are moving quickly in favor of IU.
  13. I really don't mind this sort of stuff. Networks need people to talk about the teams, it's hard to really have a great idea about who has taken the next step in practices, NIL has changed the game in terms of how different teams are year to year. I really don't think anybody could foresee Penn St. losing to UCLA, in the case of Texas, I think that team looked the part last year, they brought back a fair amount of players, and the QB was the number one ranked QB prospect when he in high school. I do think the hype over Arch was way overboard, but again networks need things to air, so they talk about the programs, players, and coaches that will get the most eyeballs. One thing that would help would be to wait to rank teams until about this point in the season. It wouldn't stop commentators from doing rankings or really stop the hype around certain programs, but it would help to not have that number next to the team when there hasn't been any football played.
  14. Like Rival’s Nathan Bishop said regarding Oregon’s drop to 3rd in the AP - “Good!” That kind of fine dining just feeds a master motivator like Dan.
  15. Charles back pain has temporarily restricted his pull-away ability... Not an uncommon malady for competitive sorts.
  16. Agree with Spartan. Like rep metrics for pitchers, the odds for injury go way up when true freshmen are pushed past their ability to maintain body control. The overall health of the RB room has to be taken into consideration by the coaches. That said, they’ve earned bigger roles, and will probably get them, just not as much as some fans may want. Just another reason there are coaches, and there are fans, right?
  17. David, I was a bit disappointed in the article as it did not mention from which gambling site Charles had to be pulled away from. Other than that, right on.
  18. Who is college football's biggest fraud? Texas, Clemson, Penn State fight it out - Yahoo Sports I'm going with Penn St. They had the most returning, new D Coordinator labeled the best in the business, and a schedule with 2 of 4 toughest games at home (UCLA just snuck in as No. 4) Clemson was a trendy pick since it was in the ACC and who'd thunk Mari could keep the train on the tracks all season? Texas: Arch is in his 3rd year under Sark. What had he done previously to show he was QB1 for a No. 1 team other than the last name on his birth certificate?
  19. I look at this more in terms of reps, it's not who starts the game it's about who is getting the most reps. I think we've really benefitted from no one running back getting worn down over the course of a game. It's pretty obvious the coaches are doing an excellent job with this group, I'm sure they'll continue to make good decisions.
  20. Mysterious movement in the betting line, odds for Indiana at OregonThe line opened at Oregon -10.5. Yesterday it dropped to -9.5, and some 18 hours later it's at Oregon -8.5. The IU moneyline has dropped from +305 to +270. The line is now down to Oregon -7.5 at the ESPN Bet Sports book. Autzen ZooMysterious movement in the betting line, odds for Indiana...Something weird is happening with the betting numbers ahead of Oregon's home game against Indiana.

  25. Remember how I used to be warning people, and explaining our rules so many times in the past. There was a stretch of a year and a half where I was posting something about the rules once a month, and sometimes--twice. Our first year we averaged 18 rule violations a month! The worst was when we lost to Washington twice in 2023 and I had 36 violations in one month-whew! What is it like now? Crickets. We hardly ever have a violation, and when we do, it is usually a newbie who is learning how to filter themselves as we all learned. It takes a while, but everybody has adapted and it is wonderful to have such a great community. I have enough issues with the two websites, and I am so grateful that I hardly have any moderating to do, because everyone is so NICE to fellow OBD members! Our community is not large, but it is special. It is the only Oregon group that values being civilized to one another, thus you are all a treasure in human spirit. I love you all! And thanks for putting up with my quirky humor... Yeah, Penn State. You GOT THIS...
