  2. Drones are cool. When completed, the football practice and workout facilities will be second to none, including NFL facilities. Graduating from Oregon in the early eighties nobody would have imagined this level of sophistication as part of Oregon’s future. Nike had still not signed Michael Jordon. So, in an indirect way thanks Michael. Uncle Phil, and all of our other Boosters rock.
  3. At the beginning of the year, I posted in YouTube that people were sleeping on Bama. Got boat raced in the comments after they lost to FSU. I also think it's Bama and Ohio State. It's tough to put recruit these two. And Ohio State is the new one. Since 2000 that have all but dominated the B1G. OBD are in the conversation. I'm happy as long as that remains the situation. It takes some luck for a program like ours to win a title. So far, we've had four years of bad luck since Rich Brooks catapulted is into the scene. Would be nice if Ohio State lost two WRs, their MLB, or get in after the playoffs expand to win one ( not to mention a nice blowout to sneak in the year we started the new playoff for at). That's the kind of luck we need.

  8. I was down by Autzen Stadium this morning, learning to fly my drone, and I thought I would share. You can see they have a portion of the wall up at the new practice facility. I did not want to get too close to where they were working.
  9. Coach! Great to see you post, and do share more observations over time. Love it.
  10. And Stein might be a package deal with one or more current Duck back up QBs
  11. A little trivia for everybody with regard to Brohm. He has the most victories in the ACC since he arrived in 2023. He also has a 4-0 regular season record against top 5 teams in his lifetime. His only top 5 losses in the post-season came in two conference championship games. I see Penn State making a huge push to hire him.
  12. Stein to Louisville is one HC move that would make sense. It is "home" to him and his family. A program he could build and recruit to in an ACC where FSU and GeoTech are intermittently good, Clemson is fading and Mariø's U always loses one head scratcher a season. He could build a perennial CFP candidate there. Could he take a QB with him? It wouldn't be surprising. Novosad bears more than a passing (no pun intended, unless you think it was) resemblance to Shough and would have two years of eligibility left. If Louisville comes calling, I think WS is gone.

  20. Darren what has killed the BIG and established the tiers as you have them, is 1) the addition of 4 schools, and 2) the erasure of divisions. With the divisions, the following "dwellers" played in the CShip games since 2018 . . . (shocking to see it in print) 2018 NWern 2019 WISC 2020 NWern 2021 Iowa 2022 Purdue 2023 Iowa We are not going to see any of those teams in the CShip game in the near future. Indiana is going to be interesting. Cig brought a ton of players from JMU who have a lot of game experience as well as his staff. I think those JMU players are about to eligibility-out and it is a matter of time until he starts losing some of his staff. With his new salary package and hence Indy's buy-in, I think their NIL will soar and he will stabilize the program. BTW I think Ill is in the playoffs with a win Saturday. That should allow them to run the table, be 10 - 2 with their only losses to the current #1 and #2 teams. That trumps any SEC 2 loss resume.
  21. I preferred the “old” conference alignment where they were ALL regional and there were bowl games that mattered, with some tradition associated with them. I really didn’t mind that some years there were two different schools in separate regions both claiming they were the best. But I’m an old guy, traditional, and am certainly very proud of what OBD has become, and with the current environment I am glad they are now a part if B1G.
  22. Nice RPO design from Stein at 3:45!
  23. I think the larger college playoff field is also levelling the field at the top too. Even with NIL options, the risk vs reward for an also ran school to make a 4 team playoff was poor. With 12 teams the numbers start pencilling out for the Texas Tech, Vandy and Indiana of the world to make the investment.
  24. Louisville QB Miller Moss is done after this season. Same for Brohm's first season QB Jake Plummer, and last season's QB Tyler Shough. Brohm can coach! He took Purdue from a doormat to a team that contended every week. I think Charles' call is spot on. If Brohm can be lured away from his alma mater, Will will be heading back home.
  25. Some Oregon trivia. Oregon (not the university) definitely has a connection to the Grateful Dead. Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters took the bus, in the photo, across the country and handed out LSD at parties in the 60’s. Kesey graduated from Springfield high school. The Grateful Dead played at many of the “electric parties” that Kesey and the pranksters hosted. Therefore, there is a strong connection to the Eugene area. Kesey, the pranksters, and the Grateful Dead definitely had an influence on the “hippie” culture that started at the time. Tye dye clothing was worn by many of our hippie youth as a sign of peace and love.
  26. Thanks, Darren. With so few P4 games out of conference, it's difficult to get a top-to-bottom read of any conference. The SEC's mid to lower-level teams will be ranked notwithstanding losses to SEC opponents. Two-loss Texas, LSU, and Tennessee are ranked. Two-loss Minnesota, Iowa, Washington, Northwestern, Nebraska, and USC are not ranked. SEC folks will defend the rankings, and not without justification, all day long. However, AP voters will give the nod to brand names, like the ranked two-loss SEC teams. FWIW - Minnesota has a W over ranked Nebraska, Nebraska has a W over 21 Cincinnati, two weeks ago, SC blew out No. 25 Michigan. UW's two losses came against No. 1 Ohio State and a ranked Michigan team on the road. 2-loss Iowa suffered a 3-point loss on the road at Iowa State, and shut down the Indiana offense. Northwestern? With the first game loss at Tulane, I got nothin'. 😁 Man versus Machine - After Week 8, Massey Rankings include No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, No. 5 OBD, No. 14 Michigan, No. 17 USC, No. 20 Iowa, No. 22 Washington, No. 26 Illinois, and No. 30 Nebraska. Half of the conference is ranked in the top 30. The B1G is behind only the other Power 2 conference, the SEC. In 2025, the SEC went 2-1 versus the B1G. Ohio State defeated Texas in Columbus, Oklahoma defeated Michigan in Norman, and Wisconsin no-showed against Bama in Tuscaloosa, as is the case versus every Baggers' B1G opponent in 2025. In 2024-25, Tennessee and Texas lost to Ohio State. No.1 Michigan defeated No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl on 1/1/2024. In the 2024 postseason, 5-loss Michigan defeated Alabama, and 3-loss Illinois defeated South Carolina. The B1G was 11-6 in the postseason. The SEC went 6-10. In today's CFB, a program's past does not define its current ability. Ohio State is the favorite to win the Natty, no surprise. But Indiana also has favorable odds. I very much enjoyed the read, but I don't believe the B1G is any lower than the 2nd-best conference in CFB. With 18 teams in the conference, a few are going to stink. PS - I believe Purdue has its guy in Barry Odom. Wisconsin is a Jeff Bromh or equivalent hire, away from success. Paul Chyrst should not have been fired.
