Canzano Compares Noise in Happy Valley vs. Autzen...
I do agree with Canzano on this one. Though it was very impressive/intimidating being at this white out in person. I asked my wife that same question since she’s been to both venues and she thought Autzen was louder. So true about the endless amount of tailgating going on. Never been to one compares to Penn State’s tailgaters. We were blessed to be at a white out for the first time!

2025 BIG Info, Predictions, Etc. (11)
In what was an epic weekend of college football across the country, the Big Ten certainly did its part in contributing to the drama. Five of the conference's six games were decided by six points or fewer on Saturday. The two matchups between ranked opponents — No. 6 Oregon vs. No. 3 Penn State; No. 21 USC vs. No. 23 Illinois — both came down to the final play, with the former needing double overtime to separate the two teams. Even Iowa, which lost starting quarterback Mark Gronowski to injury, pushed then-No. 11 Indiana to the absolute brink. When the smoke finally cleared, Ohio State and Oregon emerged from the weekend having done enough to cement themselves as the two best teams in the league — and, as of Sunday afternoon, the top two teams in the AP Poll. Indiana and Penn State joined them to give the Big Ten four teams in the top 10. For a team-by-team look at the league, here's our newest set of Big Ten Power Rankings following Week 5: Big Ten Power Rankings: Oregon Overtakes Ohio State at No. 1; Indiana Enters Top 3

Canzano Compares Noise in Happy Valley vs. Autzen...
I know in Autzen the Ducks are dealing with "reverse" noise in that the offense gets to work in a more quiet environment and the defense gets to play in a much louder one. However, I would imagine that even just playing in Autzen all the time the offense can block out the noise a bit easier. Still an incredible road challenge to overcome for our Ducks. Those conditions might not be as loud as Autzen but they did have to travel across the country and then still play and in it all.

Duck Sports Central: "Take Two Tuesday" and "Thursday Round-Up"
Oregon didn’t just survive the White Out; it solved it. From the opening possession, the Ducks set out to sterilize the noise—snap counts shortened, play calls clustered, ball security prioritized, and the chains nudged forward with a run-first, short-throw blueprint that kept 110,000 throats mostly ornamental. For three quarters, that discipline, paired with a suffocating, eyes-right defense, reduced Penn State’s offense to guesses and punts. Then came the jolt: a 14-point fourth quarter from the Nittany Lions that turned a slow-burn strangle into a two-overtime thriller. Oregon answered with poise—the kind that only shows up when your conditioning, situational rules, and internal clock all agree—and walked out with a statement road win built on identity. Below is the how and why, told through the rhythm of the game and anchored by the numbers and PFF context you asked for. Fifth Quarter 2025: Analyzing Oregon's win over Penn State

2025 B1G Info, Predictions, Etc.
From the article.... "USC football's loss on Saturday was a brutal one. The Trojans played terrible defense, turned the ball over multiple times, committed too many penalties, and had poor clock management, ultimately leading to them falling to a less talented opponent. "You may have noticed that I did not specify which USC loss I was talking about. While in this instance, I was referring to the Trojans' 34-32 defeat at Illinois, there are seemingly countless games that the program has played under head coach Lincoln Riley that have met those exact same criteria." That really does get to the heart of the matter. The loss to Illinois was bad enough, but the worst part is how numbingly routine and constant these losses are. It's not isolated; it's part of a large and growing pattern. This isn't a merry-go-round; it's an error-go-round. It speaks to a culture where lessons aren't learned and failure doesn't sharpen coaches or players for the next game or season. It's a complete waste of time and talent and a scathing indictment of a coach who used to be really good at his job. Lincoln Riley has lost the ability to be a quality control manager, someone who gets his teams to maintain a high standard.

Canzano Compares Noise in Happy Valley vs. Autzen...
John was there, and wrote a ton of complimentary things about Oregon in the process. Below is the question and his answer... (Other B1G schools won't like his answer) Q: Can you compare Autzen Stadium vs. Beaver Stadium? A: Autzen plays a little louder. I know it’s counterintuitive because it’s smaller in size. I’ve been to lots of stadiums (Ohio State, Michigan, etc.) that are much bigger, but somehow not as loud. Autzen is an echo chamber, and the acoustics make it more difficult for opposing teams to hear on the field. The sheer sight of 111,015 fans at Penn State’s home stadium was mind-bending. Beaver Stadium is about twice as big as Autzen and visually stunning. The tailgate was a never-ending sea of RVs, tents, flags, tables, fans, and every setup was more impressive than the one beside it. So, when we do "Shout"...the "a little louder now" part is TRUE!

A Targetting Question
The other reason this could have been no called is the unspoken make up call rule. It was near that same spot on they ruled Whittington not down due to contacting blades of grass which resulted in a major swing. This targeting call would have given us first down at the 1 yardline instead of it being 4th and 1. It was perhaps a bridge too far to give us two major calls to keep our drive alive and cost them one of their starters. A separate note, is targeting was intended to take the head out of tackling, but PSU defenders didn't get the memo. The consistently were making significant contact with their helmets all through the game. I really would prefer not to play them again for that reason.
