What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
Riffing on friend Geo's take on the Committee's 1st ranking reveals several 'Who Knew or Expected THIS?' games left to be played. Oklahoma - at No. 4 Bama, No. 18 Mizzou, and a side order of LSU. Texas - at No. 5 Georgia and No. 3 A&M. Georgia - No. 13 Texas and at 17 Georgia Tech. USC - No. 20 Iowa and at No. 9 Oregon. Pitt - No. 10 Notre Dame, at No. 17 Georgia Tech, and No. 18 Miami OREGON - at No. 20 Iowa, No. 19 USC, at No. 23 Washington. You never know. In the preseason, OBD, based on prior season results, had one of the easier schedules in the B1G. Now? Heading into Week 11, OBD has one of the toughest remaining schedules of any PO contender. Great challenges present great opportunities. Win these games, plus the game against bowl-eligible Minnesota, and OBD is odds-on to host the No. 11 or 12 seeded team in the 1st round of the PO. And take a 1st round nap? Hand Kirk his 90th B1G conference loss!

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
Great take, Geo. Joey is most certainly squirrely. RSWSS - Rubbing Shoulders With SEC Syndrome? With 3-ranked teams and a bowl-eligible Minnesota coming up, I think a 10-2 OBD, without a blowout loss, will be in the PO field. How about going 4-0 and hosting a game in Autzen!

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
I thought the committee did a decent job and got most of it right, other than ND. A couple of observations: 1) I am okay with Oregon at 9, but did putting Oregon at 9 essentially send the message that if they lose again they are out, barring total chaos? 2) How in the world is Notre Dame ahead of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisville? 3) Why is Joey Galloway so dug in on ATM being No.1 based on “statistics”?? What statistics is he looking at? Indiana, tOSU, Oregon, Texas Tech are all in the Top 15 in both total offense and total defense. ATM is not in the Top 15 for either. Weird flex from Galloway.

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
Here's the comparison with the latest AP Poll - SEC - 9 ranked - no change B1G - 7 ranked/ +1 - This gives OBD with 3 top 25 + Bowl eligible Minnesota, a tough as it gets finishing schedule. ACC - 5 ranked/ +1 - No. 24 Pitt is off this Saturday, then hosts 10 Notre Dame, plays at 17 Georgia Tech, and hosts, and hopefully hoists, 18 Miami. 24 Pitt has a chaos-causing PO finishing schedule. B12 - 3 ranked/ -1 Notre Dame - Ranked 10 by the committee and the AP. After sinking Navy on Saturday, beware of the next game at Pitt. No one has complained more about Notre Dame playing ball outside of a conference than Pitt's coach Pat Narduzzi. Since starting true Frosh Mason Heintschel at QB, Pitt is 4-0, 7-2 overall, 4 and 1 in the ACC, and in contention for an ACC title appearance in Charlotte and a spot in the PO. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/panthers-mason-heintschel-breaks-record-233122625.html Whole lot of PO ranking shakin' goin' on before 12/7/25. And I love where OBD is ranked now, with an excellent chance to host a home game. In order to Host - Let's Start with Hoisting and Hosing Down the Hawkeyes!

Mens Basketball vs. Hawaii...First Game TONIGHT! 7:30 PST on Big-10 Network
This will be a challenging first game. Hawaii has the most experienced roster in the entire NCAA and an average age of 23 years old. Hawaii’s starting center is Issac Johnson (ex-Duck). Hawaii’s 6’7” PG is out this game, so that should help the Ducks a little. I expect this will be closer than the spread, but Ducks should be able to win. 🤞

The remaining teams on our scheduled are ranked--just about like the eyeball test to me appeared. They are good, but not great.

Set your DVRs if you can't watch, and I look forward to learning about this new team. Crap...I forgot to print off the roster before leaving the office, as we have a ton of new faces to watch for. The 22 year old Chinese point-guard, Wei Lin, sounds interesting, as does Oleksandr Kobzystyi, a 6'8" senior transfer from Kremenchuk, Ukraine! Gotta hope Nate Bittle has a great year!

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
The 1st Reveal Is B1G - 3 of OBD's Final 4 Opponents Ranked! https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2025-11-04/college-football-playoff-bracket-based-current-committee-rankings No. 9 at this time is just fine. OBD has the chance to shine. And I found the PO Committee Chairman's comments regarding the discussions of OBD in relation to the new metrics refreshing and not the usual ducking (sorry) of tough questions. We can parse these rankings into pulp, but it doesn't matter. SEC and B12 teams have tough games ahead. The ACC? I'm happy to see Pitt there, but this could be a one-bid league. And I'm hoping Pitt will hand Notre Dame its third loss. Indiana's remaining schedule is a joke. And the Hoosiers playing thin air OOC? Doesn't matter. TOSU also has a cake walk before playing a Michigan team that just lost its best running back. It looks like OBD has the chance to earn a bye and limit the B1G to 3 PO teams, or Oregon has the chance to usher a 4th B1G team into the PO, or both? The Games We Remember ...

“Midseason” Verdict?
Today's CFB is so much about roster management. Two seasons back, Mike Norvell soared with FSU's portal players. The last two seasons? And in 2025, it started so well for the Seminoles. How have Clemson and Penn State fared with many returning players? Coached at the top by two coaches with two titles and a boatload of wins. Recruiting stars out of HS is fine, but how long will they stick around if they're not starting? Even when they are next man up on the depth chart. How much money is there to keep backups who have been told they're great since junior high around? With 'poaching' being part of today's CFB, hats off to Dan for not losing, to date, a starter to the portal. Managing an NFL roster is easy-peasy compared to CFB. One of the reasons I am starting to see grey hairs on Danno's dome. CFB coaches in an age of (un)social media never have a day, even a Ryan Day, off. Billionaire NFL owners get it. Attempting to outspend one another is a zero-sum game. It's all designed to arrive at parity. An NFL with most teams mediocre and competitive lifts all boats. CFB Billonaires fighting it out today will, before long, head to the light of NFL-Lite. Size goes to size in business, and today's CFB is big, and B1G, and SEC business. The potential of young players matters. The experience of players matters more. Hats off to Dante for the way he has played this season, but with Bo, Dillon, Mendoza, or Mateer at QB?

Josh Pate's Epiphany About Mario Cristobal In Real Time (Must Watch)
I This data is just amazing. Since we know Mario though, of course, we're not really shocked... but when you see it in black and white, it's still quite exceptional.

“Midseason” Verdict?
I bit hard on the hype after the PSU win. In hindsight, and a week or two later, as someone said, "I can't believe it took you guys two OTs to beat them." Ouch, but yeah. At the beginning of the season, I would have been very happy with a 2 loss regular season... and I need to remember that. But when I look at the combined record of the FCS teams that we have played so far, with the exception of Indiana, they're 20-34. Apparently, our best win is against a rather average 5-3 Northwestern team. And in our last game, we struggled against a sub-par 2-6 Wisconsin at home. I'm beginning to argue that our best game might actually have been the loss to a seriously good Indiana. We played quite poorly and yet only lost by 10 to a #2 team that totally looks legit. So, all that to say that I think this team has the pieces that can make a run, but they have yet to put them together. If they don't put them together, I could see us easily going .500 in our last four regular season games. On the other hand, if they actually put the pieces together and play together as a unit, I think this team could make a decent run in the playoffs.

It's REAL: 'They Don't Know Us,'....Even NOW?
Such a great memory. We were riding high after coming off of a huge home win against a strong Michigan team. Then that damn SI curse hit 😉

“Midseason” Verdict?
Yikes & Ouch. C'mon Duckies... get it all together for a kick butt home stretch.
-
“Midseason” Verdict?
If there is an all-american DB available who fits all DL criteria then Ducks will probably pursue him. DL wants the best players and he likes to stack key positions to create high competition within the group. It may not happen, but do not be surprised if it does.

“Midseason” Verdict?
Right, and we would not need them if the young talent was playing now. For example, I do not believe Oregon will go for anyone in the portal in the defensive backfield for the first time since Lanning has been here. That is due to superb recruiting and development at those positions. In fact I expect more portal transfer casualties out in the secondary. In my view, the majority of the starters will not be here next year, and that is the definition of an older team. But we can disagree--no sweat. A'Mauri Washington Batting Down a Pass...

It's REAL: 'They Don't Know Us,'....Even NOW?
There are 136 FBS teams in the US. These teams are primarily spread across three time zones, and if you’re still living in the land of denial, wake up… because in regard to CFB, being out on the Left Coast is a big, natural, geographic, disadvantage. We have been living in the Southwest for 15 years now, and I am still shocked at how huge, and even somewhat beloved, the Oregon brand is down here. I travel a few times a year to TX, NM, AZ, UT, NV, & CA, and, for the most part, people either like, or even have a strong affinity, for the Ducks. I come across very few detractors. OregonDucks is spot on about this. In the last 25 years, Oregon football has won a LOT of games. We’ve provided the nation with a lot of highlight reel material. We came oh-so painfully close to winning it all in 2011. Got beaten up in the NCG in 2014. And got clown-stomped again last year by that same evil team when it mattered most (‘they who shall not be named’). We’ve done everything… except that one detail known as winning the entire enchilada. Or, more commonly referred to as The National Championship. Don’t get me wrong… in the eyes of the college football world, we are about as entertaining and fun as it gets. We are exciting to watch, we are extremely competitive, we have one ridiculously loud stadium, great fans, and the best football uniforms in the history of uniforms. Heck, we were even on the cover of Sports Illustrated once, where they said: “Dazzling Ducks… Rich, Cool, & 4-0.” But until we win the NCG, and preferably two, I’m afraid we’re going to have to be satisfied with dazzling, rich, and cool. Until then, to the rest of the nation, we’re primarily going to be that exciting team out there somewhere near the end of the Oregon Trail. However, win it all, and the familiarity will finally follow.

“Midseason” Verdict?
Oregon's right at where I thought it would be before the season started. I was expecting a 2 loss season and a spot in the CFP so they're on schedule. Most of the inconsistency comes from new starters (young or old) that either hadn't started before or are starting for the first time in Oregon's systems. Consistency comes from experience in one place....that's why the OL is good but not great, 4 out of 5 guys are new and haven't really had that much time as a collective. Most of them will be gone after this season so the next will likely also be inconsistent. Multiple years in the same positions on the same team is the biggest factor for consistent performance.

The Indiana Game was not a Season Killer
...and then stomped on it. I wish people would realize this. Penn State might still be undefeated if they didn't lose that game. They lost. Then they lost their heart. Then they lost some more games. Now people want to totally discount that game (the same game that was called an instant classic) as if Penn State was NEVER any good. If Penn State would have responded like they should have, after the loss to the Ducks, the B!G would have 4 teams in the top 10 instead of 3.

What Will the Playoff Committee's 1st Ranking Reveal - Will it Come Up B1G?
Head-to-head is supposed to count if the ranking between the two teams is close.
