  2. Agreed. I just created a new thread on this topic before reading your post. At the same time for Moore, it sure seemed like that Mike Tyson quote: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." It was like Dante Moore from UCLA was raised from the dead when he got up from that sack on the first play of the game. I hope he can mature past that going forward.
  3. Geoff Scwartz had some intetesting takes on X.
  4. ..led by our scouts and analysts and Caboosed by Will Stein. Rewatching this game it's like the Oregon offense prepared for a completely different team. Our RB's thought they could juke tacklers out of their shoes for extra yards, lead blockers thought our RBs were past the tackers they left untouched, consistently playing a man or two down blocking at the point of attack or in protection. That doesn't happen if the scout team plays a competitive representation of the opposing team's defense. It's like we were expecting them to run a 3-4 defensive scheme with players as talented as Oregon State, and instead we got a team full of ballers running a 4-3 front that the stunted, simulated pressures and dropped back in coverage based on the predictable looks we gave them.consistently. At some point Lanning and the coordinators needs to evaluate their scouting methodologies. Does he need to find better scouts, does he need to listen to his scouts better, does the scout team need to better understand how vital their role is in preparing the starters? Our last two losses can be pinned at least 50% on significant schematic and preparation failures. I use to think it was because our coaches were busy recruiting instead of scheming, but I don't think that was the case here. Something else is going on here
  5. I think Indiana deserves the kudos. They had scouted Oregon well. Even beyond scheme to the skill sets of individual Oregon players. They loaded the box on defense and threw a lot of blitzes and stunts at Oregon. Their D-line was adequate, but more than adequate when backed up by their DE's and LB's. They were rewarded with 8 sacks and a lot of hurries by Dante. They were mixing the rush to keep Dante guessing so Dante couldn't position RB's for blocking. It was frustrating to watch in person and entertain thoughts on what would happen if Oregon's RB's could just break the box and there would be huge running gains. Likewise, yards after catch if TE's/WR's could catch quick throws. Indiana was not afraid of Oregon's outside speed, especially WR's, because they were disrupting things at the line of scrimmage. Indiana had a bye week to prepare and they took advantage. Why Oregon didn't make better adjustments in the second half is baffling. The fourth quarter stats comparison is beyond baffling.
  6. Agents vs ADs is a one-way negotiation. Why don't the contracts have a Right of First Refusal instead of these absurd buyouts? If a coach wants out, wants to go to another program, do you want him hanging around? On occasion, like when Cristobal went MIA, the left behind team will bag some bucks. But for the most part, it's the school firing the coach that is on the hook.

  8. Oregon Ducks Looking To Flip Five-Star Cornerback Recruit Away From Georgia BulldogsThe Oregon Ducks are trying to flip one of the Georgia Bulldogs' top commits in the 2027 recruiting class. Five-star cornerback Donte Wright held the Ducks in high regard prior to committing to Georgia and now Oregon is looking to pull off the flip. Oregon Ducks On SIOregon Ducks Looking To Flip Five-Star Cornerback Recruit...The Oregon Ducks are looking to add some serious high-end talent to their 2027 recruiting class, and five-star cornerback Donte Wright has been on the Ducks' ra
  9. Dante was sacked by two players blitzing on the first play of the game. He was sacked five more times and Indiana players hit him, sometimes in a manner that should have drawn a flag for roughing the passer, several more times. He got up limping at least twice. Those sacks and hits came at him really fast. Somewhere in the preparation for this game our coaching staff let Dante down. Yes, game experience is important, but blitzing schemes can be duplicated in practice, probably are, but obviously our coaches either did not anticipate what Cig planned, or, on our defensive side, don't know enough to prepare properly.
  10. It's fine... Incentive to play better and improve. I'd like to be slightly higher by the time the playoff comes around..I'd like to be on the opposite side of the bracket from Ohio State but plenty of time for that.
  11. According to CBS Sports, the buyout on PSUs side is $58 million. The buyout on Franklin's side is $1.00. As in, one-dollar. If I was a coach, I would be looking to hire Franklin's agent right now.
  12. That ia funny. If Franklin is flamatt he takes a year off before diving into the coaching carrosel as he can afford to wait for the right job. We all know Oregon State isn't the right job for almost everyone.
  13. IU definitely deserves it the #3 spot. I'm pleasantly surprised that we only fell to #8.
  14. Oh the defensive side it is Lupoi and Hampton (in the box). I'm not sure who is in the box on the offensive side of the ball right now. But in not convinced making this change right now is worth it as it would throw their system off. It was a poorly called game for sure but the players also didn't execute terribly well. Everything from holding calls to Whittington not taking the first down yards in front of him was on the players. Moore missed throws he normally makes and there were receivers open but Moore never found. My biggest criticism is one I make every single year... When there is a hit hand running the ball feed them the ball! Davison was gaining chunk yardage right up the gut. Let him be the featured back and run it. In the end I think the run pass ratio was slightly pass heavy but I think we may have won that game if it became more run centric with Davison who really wasn't getting stopped.
  15. Something tells me UCLA is going to surprise some teams. USC is one that comes to mind.
  16. As to Franklin turning down potential jobs, most coaching contracts with a buy-out clause require that the coach continue to look for work and payment received during the contract term go to the former employer to offset the buy-out.
  17. Hummmm, we might have a scheduling problem in the future . . . more teams that have lost to Oregon have fired their HC (3) than have keep them (2). Too bad we hadn't played ucla or we'd be batting 800.
  18. Franklin to Oregon State?
  19. Rumors out there are saying Franklin is heading west to Oregon State. 😆😅 This comment is based upon totally, unsubstantiated, absolutely anonymous, sources. 😉
  20. Not sure how much of a loss that is.
  21. Same people that hear a tree fall in the forest (or see bear a poop).
  22. The buyout on Franklin's side was $1. PSU is totally eating this entire enchilada.
  23. Most contracts have a mitigation clause to subtract the annual pay of a new contract. The best example of not doing this was Charlie Weiss. I think he was being paid more by Notre Dame not to coach than Kansas was paying him as their head coach.
  24. Yikes... barely two weeks ago Franklin had the #2 team in the nation. And now, Franklin's former team thinks he stinks so badly that they were willing to drop about $60 million just to get rid of him. It tells me how massive the amount of money is that comes through college football, and what a wonderful merit-based system sports are.
  25. Maybe we can get Mike Cavanaugh back on the OL staff.
  26. My bet is that the game will mentally start slowing slowing down for Moore and that very soon, he will begin picking blitzing defenses apart. He's just too bright and athletic for that not to happen. I'm betting that within a couple weeks, he will begin feasting on the blitz.
  27. We lost to a good team, sucks, but you can’t win em all. I trust they’ll grow from it and come back stronger. There’s no way this team has seen its best football yet.
