As if JMU doesn'thave enough what if migraine inducing matchups with Oregon!

They may all be ready to go, maybe some of them, but I would think , most of all it is Lanning saying to JMU, here are a few more things to think about and plan for.

Is Dante Leaving For The NFL?
Timing on all these could be an issue if we make a deep run in the playoffs and Moore doesn't decide until later than these guys need to find their next landing spot. I'm sure Lanning will have that discussion with Moore.

Oregon Mentioned For Landing Spot For Raiola
Who knows if he’s the one, but there will almost certainly be a top portal QB in play if Moore goes. Believe I read the last 4 Heisman winners have been transfers, 3 of them being QBs.

Is Dante Leaving For The NFL?
Well 10 million at 8% for 40 years is $217 million, so... And like I said, he's from Detroit, he doesn't know how to spend money, and if he goes in the 2nd round he's still making millions a year that he can't figure out how to spend. He's got generational wealth coming without being a first rounder next year, or the year after that.

Michigan Fires Moore.
So, it was allegedly a staffer, he stalked her for months, but she broke up with him on Monday, then called the AD to complain... Sounds like pure soap opera to me. I feel very bad for his family, first and foremost. The school has been crafting some of this sticky wicket, in retaining staff who had already been involved in a ruckus undefeated Harbaugh. Not nearly a smelly as the Penn State mess under Paterno, but definitely not the sort of press coverage any institution should have to deal with. The fact they immediately fired Moore for cause certainly suggests a predisposition by the AD.

Benson taking over for Bryant has been the difference for punt return. If Bryant comes back, I think Benson continues to be the guy. And these days kick returners are your speediest running backs not WRs for durability reasons.

"participating" We'll what part of practice? A lot of times the media is only allowed to see warm ups and a drill or two. Still, it's a great sign, and hopefully at least 2 of the 3 will be ready to contribute at a high playoff level once by the Texas Tech game.

Might be bizarre to say this but I think this helps our special teams massively. In close games we've seen the return game come up huge and having an extra receiver that can field punts or kickoffs could help us steal some points against elite teams. Also just having Dak or EStew automatically drags a safety to that side for help over the top so Moore can find Sadiq or GBJ underneath.

Oregon Mentioned For Landing Spot For Raiola
I have read several articles that mention "If Dante Moore" goes to the NFL. Here is another article about Oregon being a possible destination for Dylan Raiola IF Dante leaves. Hoping Dante stays. I've only watched Raiola a few times, he seems pretty raw. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/nebraska-qb-dylan-raiola-transfer-portal-oregon-5-star-recruit/

That is some serious talent at receiver! While we don’t need to rush them back, it would be nice for them to all get a few series together to work off any rust.

If they are deemed ready to go, it would be good to shake off a little rust prior to the next round... assuming there is a next round. If any of those stars align, keep it minimal, a pray for safety!

This is a great game for those guys to be back!! Hopefully NO injuries.

2026 Football Schedule
Thank you, NJ. Starting in 2024 and through 2028, 2025 is the easiest B1G schedule OBD has had, and will have, made weaker by the PSU meltdown. 2026 ramps up. Game at Ohio State instead of Penn State, but 2027, especially if Baylor is competitive, could be the nation's most difficult schedule.

Thanks, Geo. I hope all three can play ball in the PO. No need to rush any player back for JMU (knock wood), but getting Dak and Bryant back for Texas Tech (no hubris meant football gods) would be excellent. Thank goodness for the off-week plus to give these guys reps and possibly have Stewart ready to go.

Michigan Fires Moore.
Look for Warde Manuel to enter the AD Portal Very sad all the way around; I think Michigan power brokers and administrators want to clean the Harbaugh house. Nebraska's Dylan Riola is portaling out of Lincoln, will Bryce Underwood stay in Ann Arbor? AP NewsMichigan expands investigation after firing Sherrone Moor...The law firm hired by the University of Michigan to investigate former football coach Sherrone Moore’s relationship with a staffer will continue its probe of the program and is prepared to expand its

I'd add that we'd need rain. I don't think JMU can "stop" Dante Moore even in a hurricane, but rain like you saw in Iowa would help neutralize some of the enormous advantage the Ducks have against a JMU secondary that relies on a strong pass rush consistently getting home.

Lanning Sends a Strong Message by AVOIDING the Portal
Thank you, Stevan A., for a terrific take. The Sandy Koufax-like title curveball had me getting up off the deck to finish the read. I think OL portal picking will be essential heading into 2026. What an amazing job to have an OL with four new starters up for the Joe Moore Award, and for the backups to play like starters when needed. From Saint Nick to Urban Meyer, on down, football folks consider the OL position the most challenging to recruit. A number of this season's epic fails, Clemson, Penn State, and LSU, came down to inferior OL play. What OBD's coaches have done this season with 14 new starters is terrific. Younger coaches on staff have earned the right to move on up. Thanks for giving our new OC, DC, and HC deserved and earned acclaim. If Dan Lanning hasn't earned the trust of Oregon fans by now, I guess he'll have to double-dip in Miami and finish 15-1 with a title in hand. Going PO 4-0 will take a win over the Sun Belt champion, the B12 champion, and possibly the Big Ten and SEC champions, or one of the Power 2 champs and the defending champ. WHEW! Devastate the Dukes!

Lanning Sends a Strong Message by AVOIDING the Portal
If they make the return trip to Miami for the champ game, it will be the Ducks 16th game of the season: JMU, Orange Bowl vs Texas Tech, Peach Bowl, odds on to play Indiana, 2nd game OBD would play in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, odds on to play Ohio State or Georgia. Spot on that OBD will need to go 15-1 to win the Natty.

Lanning Sends a Strong Message by AVOIDING the Portal
At the end of the article Steven mentioned, I hope the Ducks win 14 games this season. I would prefer 15, so the Ducks win the title, not just make the title game. 🙂
