Rose Bowl GameDay Thread: Indiana vs. Alabama
OC Grubb was supposed to be the secret sauce, but he went the NFL and bombed. I think this is indeed one of those situations where the players made the coach great. Jake Haener was a football god at Fresno State for DeBoer and Grubb, then Penix at UW with Peterson's recruits as others have mentioned.

The TT D had been successful vs OBD O all day. It was worth trying the run. "You don't want us to score? STOP US!"

Probably that we are low class for scoring that last touchdown. Which I don't blame the Ducks for at all because taking a knee just gives them the ball with time on the clock and they weren't going to take a knee in the end zone.... So what were we supposed to do? Not run straight ahead? It was field position and time and down. If it was 3rd with that much time on the clock Lanning would have taken the knee.

Maybe DeBoer should have taken the Michigan job. His seat is going to get HOT after this game.

Oregon-Texas Tech Post Game Thread
FWIW Oregon was tied with IU around the 8:40 mark in the 4th qtr @20-20. There is hope that they learned something. Having played IU already in the reg season should make it easier to game plan for the busy OC and DC.

Oregon-Texas Tech Post Game Thread
Pretty much the game most saw it as being. Two defenses..going at it. Obvious TT primary defensive priority was shutting down our run game, especially between the tackles, and for the most of the first half they were behind our blockers and two yards behind the line of scrimmage before our RBs even received the handoff. But hey. Our defense shutdown their offensive strength in the run, and with the exception of one 50 yrd run (from a missed tackle behind the line of scrimmage) did similar especially in the second half. As 'old school' I am always one for 'taking the points.'. But can't really argue with an overall 64% success rate on going for it and the confidence it builds in the players in executing on it so I am trying to get used to DL's tendencies, but lordy my blood pressure takes a rise Everytime he does it. Offensively they consistently "broke the flow" of several drives with self inflicted wounds and left many points on the field because of these or non-execution of 4th down plays. Dante is a good, becoming great, quarterback. But honestly from some of the forced throws he attempts and some of the down field (open) receivers he does not see while out of the pocket under diress and on the run, seems solid reasons for him to get another 15-20 games in the NFL-lite before heading to NFL-Heavy. All this being said. OBD dominated a high scoring team. Broke the QBs confidence, especially after the third turnover. Had like 6 or 7 three and outs. If our offense has been "clicking" this could have easily been a 30-40 point shutout. At no point did this game ever feel out of Oregon control. Any concerns about lack of focus after the JMU game were answered with a sonic BOOM! I had believed this game to have been the most challenging for the Ducks until meeting Ohio St. in the championship game. Well Mario and Co took care of that and now we get to wreck havoc on either Alabama or Indiana (personally I Want Indiana...for obvious reasons) and whomever they meet from the other side of the bracket OBD should be able to match up better with, than with Ohio St. Not saying we are a lock for...anything other than the Peach Bowl appearance. But, the odds have shifted nicely in favor of OBD and knocking the Ducks out in the next two rounds has become more challenging for the rest of the field. Oh and one more bit of confidence from today's game. Defense Wins CHAMPIONSHIPS! 🦆🏈🪨's

Or an offensive line built on Chris Petersen recruits who are in their 5th or 6th year. And the same would go for a defense built on Petersen and Lake (Lake was actually good on defense for UW) and DeBoer benefited greatly from those 5th and 6th years.

DeBoer just does not know what to do now. He doesn’t have the arm of Michael Pennix and 3 NFL receivers to save him this time.

Bama will not score unless it’s a FG in garbage time. They’re already calling for DeBoer’s head on social media.

Oregon-Texas Tech Post Game Thread
Awesome day for our defense. Looking ahead to Indiana (who is cruising to victory to be the first long-layoff team to win), I agree with the following comments from others here: "Our offense has got to figure some things out before we play our next game. 1 offensive TD on a short 5 yard field, is not going to cut it next time." "If Oregon has to play Indiana, Dante needs to fix his happy feet or the result will be the same as the October game." We'll be facing a very similar defense against Indiana, with a dominant, disruptive front. Our offense is better overall today than when we played them the first time, but there were some troubling tendencies today that looked a bit like that first Indiana game. Lots of miscues on offense and an inability (for the most part) to respond well to the pressure. Defense carried the load this game, offense needs to get better for a very similar defense next week.

The close up of the Alabama bands's faces. Oh man, they are trying to smile, but they know their goose is cooked. The game is not over, but it's over, unless Mendoza gets knocked out of the game early in the second half. Is the SEC going to end up with one out of conference victory in this year's bowl games and playoffs? Alabama isn't even competitive. I thought Notre Dame should have gotten in above Alabama. We knew the fix was in when they swapped Bama and Notre Dame on a week where nothing happened.

Hey CalBear. Long time. Congrats on hiring Tosh. As you know, he’s a tremendous recruiter and it’ll be interesting to see how he adapts to being the headman. I hope we schedule some OOC games in the future with our former PAC-10 foes.

What a Playoff "Bye" Actually Means
The long layoff bug is very real, they need to change the format. But it doesn't appear to be bothering Indiana much (at least after the 1st quarter). I think Indiana is the top team in this playoff (other than Oregon). I'd love to have the layoff bug bite Indiana and play Alabama in the next round, but there appears to be zero chance of that happening.
