Oregon - Montana State Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
Our final roundtable for the week means we are only ONE DAY from Oregon football returning. It feels like it’s been forever since that crushing loss in Pasadena, but tomorrow we get to wipe that one away. In this final roundtable we offer up our keys to the game. Of course Oregon faces Montana State so the predictions are a bit unique. They will get better as the season goes on. Roundtable: Keys to the Game

Prediction Contest vs. Montana State: First One of the Year!
45-17 2 6 270 Spotting MSU 17 points because even though they're an FCS team, they're one of the top two from last season so you have to give them a little credit. Oregon offense will be wobbly but still put up 45 points as new guys are still settling in. Defense will be tough up front and get their sacks...secondary will be ok but not lights out due to the all the new guys also settling in there.

Will Nebraska Ever Be Back?
If you could build a winning program solely on community and financial support, Nebraska football would still be competing for Nattys. In addition to scholarship limits and NIL’s effect on walk-ons, what also dried-up the top player market for them was losing their conference attraction for mid-southwest (Oklahoma and Texas) talent that no longer saw them as a competitive alternative once the three programs separated.

Oregon - Montana State Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
Oregon's injury report for season-opener against Montana StateAccording to Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire, linebacker Devon Jackson, safety Kingston Lopa, tight end Roger Saleapaga, safety Trey McNutt, and wide receiver Evan Stewart are the five players on the injury report. Devon Jackson has sat out with an undisclosed injury through the Ducks' spring game, but participated in fall scrimmages. His status is unknown, and there's uncertainty that the linebacker will suit up in Week 1. Kingston Lopa has high expectations for the Ducks at the safety position this year. The redshirt freshman is expected to make a run for a starting spot this year, but it's unclear if he will be at full health for the season opener. Roger Saleapaga is recovering from a torn ACL he sustained midway through the 2024 season. He's been making great progress from the major injury and will likely make his return in Week 1. Trey McNutt suffered a broken leg in fall camp and is expected to be out for multiple weeks to begin the season. The five-star true freshman is expected to recover and make a return at some point in 2025. Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart, projected to be one of the team's top targets this season, is dealing with a knee injury that could sideline him for all of 2025 Oregon's injury report for season-opener against Montana...The Oregon Ducks' injury report has been released for their season-opener on Saturday against Montana State.

Yes.... you get straight to the point!

Time For Dan the Man to Prove That He Can
It's cool that we're going to be in "the hunt" most years. Probably the year we least expect is when it will actually happen. Something like our starting quarteback goes down, and we all think the season is in the toilet, but then the backup comes in and lights it up. Ya know, something dramatic like that.

Time For Dan the Man to Prove That He Can
When I came up with the title, I thought to myself, "I bet Charles will like this one!" haha

Time For Dan the Man to Prove That He Can
Yes, might as well as start the playoff sooner. The traditions of the bowl season are all but gone anyway, let's do what's best for the sport.

Time For Dan the Man to Prove That He Can
Yes, need to match the mid-game adjustments of our opponents as you mentioned in some of Oregon's losses. That's coaching. Hopefully, the coach's have grown.

Time For Dan the Man to Prove That He Can
It will be interesting as the playoff expands, that if we will begin to see coaches rest starters the final week of the season. Might have to stop scheduling rivalry games as the last games on the schedule, and schedule non-conference cup cakes.... but i'm getting way ahead of myself.

Yes, very Portland Trail Blazers-esc for sure. Something in the Oregon water, haha.

Thanks. The days of having a "bend but don't break" defense are in the distant past. We are at the next level.

Will Nebraska Ever Be Back?
Nebraska's "slide" started with the final implementation of scholarship reductions in the mid-1990's. 1997 was their last National Championship. (And, coincides with the rise of programs like Oregon) In earlier years, it was estimated they had as many as 150 on scholarship. Then, they shifted to a very active "walk-on" program as schollie reductions took hold. Kids were still interested in walking on due to then recent Nebraska history. As the W-L records waned, and recruiting became more national with other programs vying for players Nebraska had attracted, the Huskers began losing some built in advantages. Good players who previously were walk-on decisions, started being offered scholarships elsewhere. Their only 10-win season in the Big Ten is 2012. They were 10-4 in their second B1G season. There is more than just Texas and Oklahoma to worry about now. But, the REAL reason they have fallen is God's Punishment. In the 2001 season they were awarded the BCS national championship slot instead of Oregon, and were crushed by Miami in the Rose Bowl. They have been .500 or less in 11 of the 24 seasons since. 4 times with 10 wins.

New Freedoms Allowed for GameDay Threads: "Go Ahead and Let it Go...."
I am already planning a rant about how bad our defense is when Montana runs for 2 yards on their first play! 😄

Will Nebraska Ever Be Back?
I remember OBD going to Nebraska in the 80's and just getting pounded, coming home battered, bruised and dejected. I'm sooo glad those days are over!

Will Nebraska Ever Be Back?
Never discount the Shucking Power beaming from a Hope Diamond-sized engagement ring. Rumor has it that Swifty left early to beat the traffic, leading to a late miracle INT. 😁 Cincinnati will not be a B12 bottom feeder in 2025. Especially, with Don Corleone on the Bearcats defense. Cincy makes the list of CFB guru Phil Steele's 2025 (pleasant) Surprise Teams. CFB fans overreacting to an opening game? Never happens, right 🤪? However, until proven otherwise, all of the above questions and criticisms of Nebraska should be The Rhule. Well said. Dante Moore and our defense will determine how far we go this year.
