  2. I agree with so much of what you wrote David, and not much has been made of how well Oregon rushed with 60% of the offensive line starters out for most of the game!
  3. Lanning wishes he could hurdle like Sadiq. Now, just convince him to come back and keep having fun. Oregon Coach Dan Lanning’s Candid Take On Kenyon Sadiq As He Nears Breaking Record

  6. Grades for the offensive and defensive groups. Week 13 report card for Oregon Ducks features a number of high grades
  7. I might add that Sabans OC's were predominately young. The CFB landscape is littered with HC's with their roots as some kind of coach under Saban. Why? Why are they Head Coaches now? Why so many? IMO, it's due to their extremely high energy in recruiting and their ability to connect with players. Saban was the straw that stirred the drink but those coaches never slept with recruiting. Intense energy by a lot of those, now these, Coaches.

  10. Just a different perspective: I believe that Chip is still Chip. That Blur offense was brand new and used power football against themselves. By the rime the 3rd quarter showed up, the entire team was gassed. You can't keep using this strategy now that the League (light) has changed as well. The second thing I think of with Chip is that he has little patience. That was fine when you had Industry changing innovation at your finger tips. People will put up with that so as long as you are winning. Today, these kids come to Oregon to WIN but also to connect with their coach. Chip, IMO, would not make much of a coordinator but possibly as a HC. Before you get all bothered by his stint with OSU, I refuse to put the (t) in there, that team was loaded with NFL talent that is highly self motivated. They were probably harder on themselves than Chip was. They didn't need to be coddled but probably kicked. So, NO, we don't need/want Chip. Thx for the memories Chipper, you were the greatest! Now, if Stein leaves, we need a like minded, high energy recruiter and motivator. It looks like our OC's need to be tedious and not necessarily innovative. We have the skill sets with recruits but need a surgeon dissecting defenses with personal strengths. I don't believe it's any more difficult than that. Getting that replacement, that is THAT driven is the Key! Just my Buffalo Nickle's worth
  11. I believe this is the first time we've played UW over the Thanksgiving weekend, but I'm thankful it's here and we're ready to go. This is the championship game for UW and their at home where they've played way better than when on the road which is reflected in the spread being lower than it was for USC. Vegas is forgetting about our road record. We've arguable played better on the road than at home this year. And we can play the kind of ball UW has struggled with. DUBS DOWN!
  12. Chip is not about the team. Chip is all about himself, and hiring him erodes what I perceive as a strong part of the culture that DL is building at Oregon. Being prepared for the inevitable loss of assistants is a part of being a top program. Oregon, under DL, is a very attractive opportunity for OC’s with an eye on putting together a strong resume for a HC position. Oregon should already have better candidates on their list.
  13. I imagine there are more than a few of us keeping an eye on what happens at Florida (and who they hire) if a certain freshman WR (briefly signed then released by Oregon) who went through an unfortunate injury plagued freshman season might be open to a fresh start? 6-3 and 215 would compliment Dakorien, Evan Stewart, and McClellan nicely in 2026. As well, (a Duck runner-up) freshman CB at LSU (who has looked very good), might consider a change with their new staff (though if he can handle Brian Kelly he probably can handle just about anyone). Odds for either a huge longshot but...
  14. Thank goodness we have Dan Lanning! His name is seldom on the board for those teams searching for a replacement. Dan Lanning is 'lucky' to be at Oregon as he's soaking up...The Ducks coach wants none of the coaching drama.
  15. Ducks fall in the latest ESPN FPI Top 25? Oregon Ducks On SIOregon Ducks Earn Surprising Analytics Ranking After Beat...The No. 7 Oregon Ducks defeated the No. 15 USC Trojans 42-27 in a pivotal Big Ten showdown at Autzen Stadium on Saturday. The Ducks improved to 10-1 on the seas"The FPI is a different ranking system than the AP Poll and College Football Playoff rankings. The ranking uses advanced analytics and strength of schedule to rank teams based on their performance moving forward for the rest of the season." I personally don't trust ESPN - Oh well BIG does well according to strength of schedule.
  16. I think Pete's making room for Lane Kiffin? Or, maybe Jon Gruden? 😁😁
  17. This season has been a bit of a downer, even though the Ducks are 10-1 and on the verge of a College Football Playoff bid. We got a massive win over Penn State just for it to be forgotten as Penn State took one of the biggest nosedives in recent college football history. The following game, the Ducks laid an ... Oregon vs. USC was the Game this Season Needed
  18. I think the game has passed him by. Was he really that instrumental at Ohio State last year? It took him till the playoffs to figure out that he had three NFL receivers, and two NFL running backs that could also be used in the passing game. How well is that Jim Knowles fellow doing btw? I'm not saying Chip is a bad coordinator, or that he didn't help Ohio State win. What I'm saying is that when a program has itself running at optimum level, you can have multiple coordinators flow in and out. Just as long as you have the right structure and alignment. Nick Saban at Alabama, Ryan Day at Ohio State, Dan Lanning at Oregon, Kirby Smart at Georgia. Even championship coaches like Dabo or Jimbo won with one set of coordinators. Clemson hasn't been the same without Venables, and Jimbo Fisher couldn't duplicate what he did with Jameis at Texas A&M. Both those guys had/have every resource Dan, Ryan, or Kirby have. They just couldn't adapt to losing assistants, and NIL management/transfer portal rules. Chip would do well to find a place with the structure he had under Ryan Day, and stay there if he wants to continue coaching.
  19. In 2007 Bellotti grabbed him from obscurity in New Hampshire, and Oregon agreed to pay him $150,000 to join the staff. Imagine the $$$ that has gone through his bank account, including severance payments, from the Eagles, 49ers, and now Raiders. His coordinator salary at Ohio State was $2million, and his salary in Las Vegas was $6 million. He let UCLA off the severance hook by resigning but grabbed a nice salary. I don't really feel sorry for him that "things haven't worked out." Every night he should be making an intercessory prayer in behalf of Bellotti. At some point his guru cachet has to wear out?
  20. I actually thought Chip looked a little stale this year from the beginning, although in all fairness, he didn't have a tremendous stable of offensive talent to work with.
  21. We had THREE subs out for five offensive linemen, and it was 3rd and two....where is Stein going to run the ball for two yards? We had inexperienced players on both sides and in the middle? So they call a gutsy pass that threaded the needle between the safety and another on a seam route? Wow. (Does anybody give Stein credit for that? Nope...only grief when it doesn't work)
  22. Heck, if Stein leaves, I'd take him. Doesn't have to recruit much since the rest of the staff is so good at it. Plus, Chip kinda recruits just by being Chip the offensive guru, hello Dante. Kids remember the unis and Chip's high-octane offenses plus a Natty in '24/25, not his recent failure at UCLA or the NFL.
  23. Wilcox could always come on board as a defensive analyst while he rehabs his career.
  24. Second season in a row Pete Carroll fired an OC mid-season. Even with a good roster I dont know how that is conducive to creating any kind of consistent offense.
