June Gloom and Doom Football Predictions

UW has the 2nd-longest home win streak behind Georgia. UW has won 20 consecutive games in Husky Stadium. Before OBD arrives for the last regular season game in 2025, to continue the streak, UW will have to defeat The Ohio State University and a veteran Illinois team. -

Oh dear, I hate to speak negatives into existence. I think our team will once again excel. Yes, lots of youth but all DL's guys. The O-line looks solid and should give our qb time and make holes for a powerful rb room. The D-line also lists out at better than last year. Some key additions to the db's should shore up as well. All that said, not making the playoffs would be hard. Losing to any of the following would wreck my year; Montana St, USC, Indiana or UW. Or having any serious injuries to starters. But I'll finish being positive, 11-1 with L being PSU. Losing in a white-out with Charles & Co in the house, horrible, just horrible. -
I hope Mario takes it in the shorts. This will be a landmark case as to whether a contractual agreement can prevent a player from transferring. How often does a team sue over the transfer portal? Wisconsin levies landmark suit against Miami WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM The University of Wisconsin is suing Miami (Florida) for poaching a player while Xavier Lucas was under contract with the team. How often does it happen? Never. This is an unprecedented case that... I don't want to hear any, 'He's just a kid BS.' The player and his representatives knew what was being agreed to. There is no excuse for Mario and Miami to interfere with the contract. How would Mario and Miami like the flip side? But it's Uncle Phil going all out to buy a Natty, right? This is going to be B1G. Here's a more detailed report from Yahoo. The Big Ten supports this filing. Good luck to the Canes in a Wisconsin courtroom. I expect that, along with a Motion to Dismiss, Miami will move to have the case transferred to federal court. If a contract does not restrict a player's transfer outside of the portal period, then let even more chaos rein in CFB. Including in-season walkouts and perhaps suiting up for an upcoming opponent. Wisconsin files suit against Miami for poaching Xavier Lucas while he was under contract with school SPORTS.YAHOO.COM In a landmark moment in college athletics, one university has filed suit against another over tortious interference, according to documents obtained by Yahoo Sports.

According to Game on Paper, last season, OBD had the 38th-ranked CFB D. The 2024 Top 10 Ds and their Havoc Rate. (Havoc Rate is the percentage of downs where a defense disrupts the opponent's offense. Sacks, interceptions, fumbles, hurries, deflected balls, turnovers, etc.) 1. Texas - 16.6% 2. Notre Dame - 11.9% 3. Ohio State - 12.5% 4. Tennessee - 15.9% 5. Indiana - 14.9% 6. Penn State - 14.3% 7. James Madison U. - 13.3% 8. Oklahoma - 13.6% 9. SMU - 13.7% 10. Alabama - 12.8% Seven of the Top 10 made the 2024-25 playoffs. In 2025, OBD's D should consider using one of Willie the Shake's Battle Cries - "Cry Havoc and Let Slip the Ducks of War!" - Marc Antony (I know, Marc and his gal pal, Cleopatra, came in second to Agrippa and Octavian and their cry of 'Revenge!'.) Oregon's Havoc Rate last season was 10.8%. Not terrible, but not among the leaders. Of course, the D stats are not adjusted for strength of schedule, an issue with all of college football's statistics. With a close to an all-new starting cast on O, the D with many newbies of its own, will need to step up for OBD to return to the playoffs, instead of visiting Darren's basement. A gloomy, gloomy place. -

Although, a 6’ 5” linebacker with the speed of a safety is always useful. He will definitely gain weight over the next few years. But, based on his build he can probably still carry more weight and retain speed. But, you are right about having him stay at safety. He would give QB’ s and receivers trouble with any throw downfield in his territory. -
Thank you for sharing this. Reed is basically saying many of these massive NIL deals will fall through. When they do, what will the players do? They'll explore their options, the most likely options being those in their top 3 or 4 when they made a decision. I wouldn't be shocked if our final number of recruits for this class was sub 18, just knowing we'll be getting the players we missed on recruiting in the transfer portal in the next 2 years.

This is just ridiculous. Last year after Bama lost to Okie and Vandy it was horrific, world as we know it ending! But now the SEC is using the Bama L's to show how STRONG the SEC is. In the words of Les Nessman, winner of 5 Buckeye News Hawk Awards, "Give me a break!" Oregon is not going to lose to Purdue, or Northwestern, or Rutgers, or Maryland...but if they did somehow, should they schedule Texas State in Weak 11?

This. I've been watching prior year games where Nix and Gabriel were magical. Worst case doesn't have a floor if the QB is error prone and lacks the ability to consistently move the sticks or at least make critical clutch plays. 8-4 is a more likely worst case with bad QB play. -

Great get, I hope he stays slimed down and plays at safety rather than bulking up to play line backer. It would be great to have someone who can compete with the big WRs and TEs that we've had trouble with in the past. -
