  2. Thank you, Smitty. Terrific, informative post. 9 AM body time KO is not something a team experiences often in a season, thank goodness. Northwestern usually does not kick off at 11 AM Central. Long flight? Eugene to Denver flight time 2 H 23 M. To Chicago is 4 H 20 M. So, 2 H 20 M longer on an airplane, not on a train or a bus. Football is one sport where body clock time of day can matter, but negative consequences from travel are IMO, exaggerated. Right, Mick Cronin? 😁 Everyone on the flight has entertainment and educational materials in their hands. And also the opportunity to study game prep materials. For the guys who will make to the NFL, get used to it. I think many of the players and coaches, who practice early in the day, would prefer to KO early and not sit around until 7:30 or 8 PM. And with the time difference, the team will be back in Eugene at a reasonable hour. How about traveling East to West instead? Next week's game of Michigan State at USC kicks off at 11 PM Eastern time and will end around 3 AM Eastern. (3 hours alloted for broadcast time are a joke.) The Spartans won't be back home until Sunday afternoon. Thanks again and Waste the Wildcats!

  4. The Oregon Ducks have been among the hottest teams in the nation so far this year, and while they have not played elite competition thus far, they've looked practically flawless in the eight quarters of football that we've seen thus far. Because of that, a lot of national buzz has started to come over the last week, following a 69-3 blowout over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Now they go on the road for the first time this season and kick off Big Ten Conference play with a game against the Northwestern Wildcats. It's another game that features a four-score point spread, and one that will have a different feel to it, thanks to the 9 a.m. PT kickoff and the fact that it will be played on a converted lacrosse stadium that seats 12,000 fans. So far, we've broken down the matchup, looked at some major players to know for the opponent, and covered the injury news heading into Saturday. Now it's time to make some predictions. To preview the game, we go through our weekly roundtable with the writers from Ducks Wire to offer our opinions and predictions for what's to come. Here’s our first roundtable of the year. 9. "He’s an elite passer," Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein told me when discussing Dante Moore in a recent phone conversation, "and there are certain things I can’t teach. God gave him the ability to throw the ball when he was born, and we try to capitalize on his skill sets with our passing game and with our approach every single game." 11. Ducks started out slow last year and winded up running the table, being the conference champion. But I believe our Ducks can beat PSU. CBS analyst Crawford predicts doom for the Ducks in 'harsh reality' forecastNot so fast, my friend. The CBS Sports pundit is accurate generally but shoddy in the specifics. Penn State will be an imposing test, though a few paragraphs down he takes the Nittany Lions to task for their lackluster execution in two wins over cupcakes. 17. I think they looked at what Notre Dame got as an Independent. I would say go Independent if that's the case, but that would set off a chain of consequences. Why doesn't the B1G and SEC just make Notre Dame join a league? College football would survive without Notre Dame being in the playoff. You can't have a playoff without multiple big brands though. I want four power leagues, we already have super leagues if you look at the size of these conferences. You've got it good in the B1G Ohio State. Don't be a malcontent like Texas and ruin it for everybody. You need a Purdue, Northwestern, Rutgers,UCLA, or Maryland to pad your statistics.

  20. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction of Oregon versus Northwestern? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. We Have Two New Rules: If two winning scores are the same? The first one who posted wins, automatically. TerryM9 gets 42-6 locked in every time as his. (I love this guy!) Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 48-13 2 3 251

  22. We will see more P4 vs P4 out-of-conference games canceled. SEC teams are likely to follow Florida after the SEC went to nine conference games. Like Florida, I think most SEC teams bargained for cancellations without penalty if the SEC went to nine. The SEC does require its teams to play one P4 opponent in addition to nine conference opponents. I expect that the Wake Forest switchboard is melting down.😁 One reason Tony Petitti wants an AQ PO format is so marque OOC games will be scheduled.
