ESPN Football Power Index (chance of winning) for Each Game
The 2025 preseason FPI should result in a name change to Eastern Shame Programming Network. There's bias and then there's this nonsense that has AP No. 4 Clemson ranked No. 16, the highest-ranked ACC team on the board, and behind USC and Michigan. The highest-ranked B12 team before Week 0 was No. 18 K State. FPI predicted the Wildcats would overcome a Cyclone in Dublin; didn't happen. SEC-SEC-SEC! 12 of the 16 SEC teams are in the FPI top 25. Thus, unless Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State are playing one another, every SEC game is a top 25 vs. top 25 matchup. Hide the Women and Children! If not for the requirement of the five highest-ranked conference champs being in the PO field, Nos. 1 Texas, 2 Georgia, 3 Alabama, all three with PO 1st rond byes, 8 Tennessee, 9 A&M, 10 Mississippi, 11 South Carolina, and 12 LSU would be in the 2025-26 PO field. First out would be No. 13 Florida. 🤪 Make no mistake, I am not blaming the messengers, Steven A. and NJ Duck, but this tripe should have been left in the cellar with the rest of the manure and mushrooms. Instead, it will be used all season long by ESPN to tout the "SEC, a veritable gauntlet like no other ever witnessed in the Known Universe." (At least before postseason, right? 😁) ESPN's Bill Connolly's SP+ is SEC centric, but does not come close to this 🤬. Beat the Bobcats!

FOX Corp Releases Scathing Statement Against Google Amid Carriage Dispute with YouTube TV
Decades ago, the NCAA lost its first seminal lawsuit, and in the process, its monopoly over college football broadcasts. The race was on to sell team and conference broadcast rights to the highest corporate bidders. The root cause of these problems is not only on corporate giants battling one another, but the NCAA's lack of foresight, what's new, in deciding that in-person game attendance mattered more than making huge bank for its members, and broadcasting more than one, and on occasion two games every weekend. Imagine the money the NCAA could have brought in if it cogently and collectively marketed its members' college football inventory, including a postseason it should have taken control over, like it does its NCAA basketball inventory. There might have been no conference shuffling of the decks intended to bring in more media dollars. These occasional corporate struggles stink. However, take it from an old-timer, these dust-ups are preferable to having but one college and pro game to watch on a weekend. While I raise Cain, try to avoid the waving Cane.

A 2025 B1G Question: Who Wins the Close Ones?

A 2025 B1G Question: Who Wins the Close Ones?
Thank you, Charles, for another superb editing job. When researching this article, it occurred to me that Lincoln Riley may have been better off staying later with the Sooners and playing SEC competition, or perhaps the Trojans should play all of their games in Las Vegas? The bookend wins against LSU and Texas A&M in the LV Raiders Allegiant Stadium were both hard-fought games that went down to the wire. The type of game that SC consistently lost to B1G opponents, including losses to Minnesota, Maryland, and Washington teams playing without Blue Chip Rosters. In 2025, no team wants to flip the road record more than the Trojans—4 road losses with the one win coming in Pasadena against UCLA. OBD was the only Left Coast newbie in 2024 that found success two and three time zones away. SC should find road wins on the road at Purdue and Northwestern, but road games against Illinois and especially, OBD, will be difficult, as will a road game against No. 6 Notre Dame. There is a chance that No. 30 SC could travel to Eugene for the penultimate game of the regular season, and play No. 7 OBD with B1G things on the line in-conference, and Big things on the line playoff-wise. Then again, there is also a chance that Lincoln Riley could be Fighting On for his job? Football Saturday's in the air, Bag them Cats!

I have Dish TV and have not missed a game. If needed I'll do a 7 day free trial for one game if it's streamed. Yeah it sucks but it is what it is these days.

How FAR Do the Former Pac-12 Teams Fall?
I don’t see it as a fall as much as a choice if they continue down the same path. It’s not required to be a football factory if an academic institution wants to say no thanks. If they’re in denial in some corners at the top, that’s a different scenario. I would personally choose and embrace the Ivy route if I was Stanford. Harvard doesn’t seem to be suffering. OSU and WSU are just wannabes that have more in common with Big Sky than P4. Ha!

How FAR Do the Former Pac-12 Teams Fall?
The real tragedy is that 300-500 kids have ruined access to paid education for possibly a million others. I stopped being a fan of G5 visits to the P4 when the SEC kept heralding their vaunted conference schedule (while scheduling 4 automatic victories using the G5 as fodder). But it was a viable model for plenty of kids that were all state at home, but not quite good enough to land a P4 scholarship. I thought it was real cool that these kids got on TV too. Now, a bunch of no names as far as I'm concerned are getting paid millions, and the hundreds of thousands (male and female) that worked as hard in high school are faced with dwindling opportunities to earn a scholarship as a result of their efforts. As far as OSU/WSU/Cal and Stanford go, they made their bed in the 2010s. They ignored a full 10% of their respective Universities revenue base figuring times would never change. Cal and Stanford had a more nuanced situation given they are both heavy laden with pro sports as the prime source of entertainment, but this elitist (dare I say I am being a hypocrite here lol) mentality relegates them to exactly what they deserve-Ivy League status in their major sports. Heck, I actually hope they end up getting dropped by the ACC when the next round of conference realignment settles. They deserve to be little sisters of the poor. Pride cometh before the fall.

FOX Corp Releases Scathing Statement Against Google Amid Carriage Dispute with YouTube TV
Mega corps are goin' to "megacorp". Us lowly "data points" are just that and not truly part of the overall equation as long as they can get more of the dinero'. Sad to see but nothing will change anytime soon, so we are all along for the ride. One way or another I will partake in watching and cheering OBD to their first Natty...even if I have to "slog" through the accessibility BS. Go Quackers (t-minus 4days/4hours)

FOX Corp Releases Scathing Statement Against Google Amid Carriage Dispute with YouTube TV
I got an antenna for my TV, so I could get FOX, ABC, CBS and NBC. It doesn't help me with ESPN, Fox Sports or recording, but at least I can watch most of the big games lives, if my cable provider can't come to a deal. I had to drop Dish TV because they didn't have FOX(?) for almost a year.

FOX Corp Releases Scathing Statement Against Google Amid Carriage Dispute with YouTube TV
Gosh dang it!!! NOW you tell us!!!! My family got You Tube TV to avoid this BS. Now they are all of a sudden putting this out there, I don't care about your 10 dollar credit, I care about watching the games. Usually you're given a month or more warning about things like this, but to spring it a week before the season starts is atrocious. It doesn't give any time to for me to put pressure on Google or Fox to make my displeasure known or to really make a change.

ESPN Football Power Index (chance of winning) for Each Game
🤔 Hmm, ok, wow, that is a very low win percentage. But, I will be there in person to root for my Ducks!GO DUCKS, FLY HIGH!!!Oregon Ducks at Penn State Nittany Lions — Week 5 Oregon Percent Chance to Win, per FPI: 27.1% Analysis: Unsurprisingly, this is the one game on the schedule where Oregon does not enter as a favorite. Not only are they playing Penn State on the road in Happy Valley — a white-out game — but the Nittany Lions are also among the best teams in the nation, widely ranked No. 2 going into the year. By no means are the Ducks out of this game, but it's going to likely be a top-5 or top-7 matchup, which is never easy to win on the road.
