Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
Fox knows they have a captive national audience for a quarter when folks who just want to see what’s all the fuss about the Ducks will tune in. Probably back loaded the high priced add spots for those 15 minutes before they move on.

Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
What you never know about any player, until it happens, is how they will respond to real game live action: competitive juices. Dak elevates.

Tuesday B1G Tidbits
What's the score? You can't see the scoreboard? Yeah, I can see it, but it's on fire! What if I were to tell you that your team scored 69 points on Saturday and finished third in the B1G in most points scored? A dozen Big Ten teams scored 40 points or more. And seven B1G players accounted for 4 TDs or more? Holy Woody Hayes! Except in Iowa City, this is not your Grand Dad's three yards and a cloud of dust Big Ten. Minnesota lights off fireworks every time the Gophers score. This popped up on the Gophers scoreboard early in the 4th period: "We Ran Out of Fireworks - Ope, Sorry!" ('Ope' is a local dialect for Oops. See the movie, Fargo.) 70 points - Ohio State and UW Mighty Oregon 69 points/ Nebraska 68/ Minnesota 66/ USC 59/ Indiana 56/ Rutgers 45/ Illinois 45/ Northwestern 42/ Wisconsin 42/ Michigan State 42. B1G Week 2 - 15-3 - 2-0 vs. the ACC. 1-1 vs. the B12. 0-1 vs. the SEC. No. 9 Illinois 45 - Duke 19. Give Me 5! Five Blue Devil turnovers keyed the Battling Bielema's win. No. 22 Indiana 56 - Kennesaw State 9 - Both of the Hoosiers' QBs finished above the Mendoza Line. Fernando - 3 TD passes. Alberto - 1 TD pass. Iowa 13 - No. 14 Iowa State 16. QB Gronowski threw for 83 yards, almost the length of a football field! No. 14 Iowa State won its first Cy-Hawk game on its home field since 2011. This was the sixth time in the last seven Cy-Hawk games that neither team scored 20 or more points. Maryland 20 - Northern Illinois 9 - Close to home in DC, Terps true frosh QB Malik Washington beats 2024 Notre Dame nemesis Northern Illinois. No. 23 Michigan 13 - No. 13 Oklahoma 24 - Oklahoma puts a stamp on the best home record, to date, in the 21st century. Coach Brent Venables' school's 18-year-old QB Bryce Underwood and (Kirk Ferentz in-waiting?) Sherrone Moore. Michigan State 42 - Boston College 40 - 2 OTs. QB Aiden Chiles was clutch, not choke. Minnesota 66 - NW Wherever 0 - Mother Nature shows that she has a heart. Her arrival led to an early end of a 'We're Out of Fireworks ' beatdown. Week 3 sees the Gophers in a Golden State showdown vs. the Cal Sags, er, Golden Bears. No. 35 Nebraska 68 - Akron 0 - Joe Moorhead needs this? Week 3 sees Houston Christian coming to Norman. The Cornhuskers volunteered to not play Tennessee. Northwestern 42 - W. Illinois 7 - Preston Stone rebounds from throwing 4 picks against Tulane to throw 3 TDs against the Leathernecks. If these Leathernecks were the USMC, we'd all be speaking Mandarin. 🤪 No. 1 Ohio State 70 - Grambling State 0 - The battle between Grambling's Best Band in the Land and Ohio State's Best Damn Band in the Land was a toss-up, with the tiebreaker favoring Grambling for the Best Band without the Blasphemy 🤬 No. 4 😍 Oregon 69 - Oklahoma State 3 You don't tug on Superman's Cape; you don't Spit into the Wind; and you most certainly do not (Cow) Poke Danno! 39 wins in a row when the Ducks score first. No. 2 Penn State 37 - FIU 0 - Next up on the Nits OOC Beatdown Cupcake Bakery Tour, Villanova. And then you need a nap? Purdue 34 - Southern Illinois 17 - Not only has new coach Barry Odom doubled the 2024-win total, but he's also the first first-year Boilermaker coach to match Cleo O'Donnell's 2-0 record. Cleo got the gig in 1916. Rutgers 45 - Miami (Not Mari) OH-OH 17. To date, the Greek Rifle QB is firing on all cylinders. But the D? Better call the Sopranos! UCLA 23 - G6 UNLV 30 - What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? Holy Hankie! Not according to the refs who called 14 penalties on the Bruins and 13 on the Runnin' Rebels. It looks like Nico is being paid far too many Nickels. And Foster's boys aren't frosty. 😧 https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/deshaun-foster-nico-iamaleava-under-microscope-after-0-2-start-why-ucla-coaching-change-could-be-on-horizon/?ftag=SNL-04-10aaa0b&ET_CID=473176&ET_RID=52482716 No. 30 USC 59 - Georgia Southern 20. Lincoln Riley defeats Clay Helton and closes in on matching Clay's winning percentage at SC. Washington 70 - UC Davis 0 - UC Davis, I C a Donut Hole. RB Jonah Coleman has back-to-back excellent games, 5 TDs scored on Saturday, but it happened Way After Dark. A needless Week 3 bye before heading to Pullman for an Apple chomping and then home to play Ohio State and trying to keep Judd Fisch's no loss in Seattle streak alive. Wisconsin 42 - Somewhere in Tennessee State 10 - I don't think +16.5 is enough points to find a cover against a post-Seminoles Tsunami-like Rolling Tide. Don't miss the wake-up call and turn Wildcats into Mildcats!

Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
Once bitten twice shy, Oregon fans would be expected to have underestimated Moore. The last 5 Star skill play we had the wasn't a dud was DAT, over a decade ago. To have a five star skill player commit actually sign with us, actually show up for camp, actually compete for a starting position, and actually be one of the best players on the field each week is a revelation few duck fans would dare to hope for.

Anybody Else Notice WR Cooper Perry?
I'll add to it that on a 4th down they went to Perry on a slant route. It was designed to go to Perry, on 4th down. Think the coaches trust him? I'll repasted from my long winded comment in the post game thread: Maybe Cooper Perry deserves his own thread this week. Some of the statements made by Dan Lanning to date about him were so strong, they were difficult to take seriously, but Perry may be that good. One of those slot receivers that can get open at will, and never drops the ball, and has some wiggle after the catch. If you absolutely have to have 3-7 yards in 1 down, he's the guy to do it.

Anybody Else Notice WR Cooper Perry?
Good enough / old enough. Is it a tactic to let recruits know they will probably see action in their first year even if they will be redshirted?

Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
Week 4's Civil War game will be a Noon Pacific kickoff on the Big Ten Network. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2025/09/08/oregon-ducks-oregon-state-beavers-game-time-set/86045485007/?utm_source=smg-duckswire-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SMGbaseline&utm_term=Content%20List%20-% Stay with Fox Saturday to watch Pac-12 behemoth Beavis battle No. 21 Texas Tech in Lubbock. Good ruck, Beavers, yuck, yuck. 😊

Anybody Else Notice WR Cooper Perry?
I noticed how a No. 17, a receiver, was blocking superbly downfield vs. Montana State, (Kyler Kasper...right?) and when I noticed him blocking fantastic on a running play vs. Oklahoma State, I realized that no....he is not 6'6" as Kasper is. So I looked it up and realized that Kasper changed to No. 3, and No. 17 is true freshman Cooper Perry. He caught a few passes, but has been exceptional at blocking already. Can you believe true freshmen in their first games doing so well? WR Coach Ross Douglas is Killing-it!

2025 BIG Info, Predictions, Etc. (10)
Tom Fornelli's College Football Power Ratings: Oregon climbs, Texas slides despite lopsided win 2 Oregon the Ducks jump all the way to No. 2 from No. 6 last week, largely because the gap wasn't that big to begin with. The 69-3 thrashing of Oklahoma State had something to do with it, but not directly. I docked the Ducks a bit in the offseason with questions about their offense without a 35-year-old veteran journeyman quarterback and some concerns up front. The injury to Evan Stewart didn't help, either. But through two games, this looks like the same old Oregon offense we've come to know -- something I can't say about many other teams in the country right now. Last week: 6 | National title odds: +1000 While Ohio State stayed on top, there was plenty of movement behind the Buckeyes this week

2025 Football Poll Rankings
How about the No. 4 seed in the latest AP Poll mock-PO? A field that would not thrill Greg Sankey. 🤬 Rose Bowl - No. 1 Ohio State vs. 9 Illinois at 8 Notre Dame Cotton Bowl - No. 4 OBD vs. 12 USF at 5 Miami 😁(1st round would be a repeat of this Saturday's game.) Orange Bowl - No. 2 Penn State vs. 11 Iowa State at 6 Georgia Sugar Bowl - No. 3 LSU vs. 10. FSU at 7 Texas First two out - South Carolina and Clemson. 4 B1G - 3 SEC. You think Greg Sankey might go back to supporting the AQ model?

2025 BIG Info, Predictions, Etc. (10)
these rankings mean very little at this early stage, but it does provide a look at the balance of power after two weeks of play, and who we think could be in the mix when it comes to the postseason. Here is our prediction for who is going to make the playoffs after two weeks of the season: Predicting where Oregon Ducks stand in 12-team College Football Playoff after Week 2

Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
Right up there with Johnny Manziel as one of the major "What-Ifs" of football.
-
Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
Highest rated receiver ever signed by OBD. Preseason All-Frosh all over college football sites. So, I think not. It's a pleasure to watch him play.
-
Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
I never estimated him to begin with, so I will estimate him right where he belongs after I see some more games . . . but all signs are pointing in the right direction. IMO, Sadiq is still the superfreak of the offense. Dakorien Moore is doing all the things I would expect from an very good WR, but Sadiq is a physical freak at the TE position, but then also does things I'd expect from RBs, and WRs, and OLineman. Colt Lyerla comes to mind when I think of Sadiq . . . and absolute physical specimen.
-
Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
Because and as well noted above, it's a very weak slate of Week 3 B1G games. The headliner is 2-0 Wisconsin at 1-1 No. 19 Alabama - 9 AM on ABC. College GameDay will be in Knoxville for No. 6 2-0 Georgia at 2-0 No. 15 Tennessee. ABC 12:30. The only other B1G P4 vs P4 sees 2-0 No. 30 USC at 2-0 Purdue (double the wins from 2024!) 12:30 CBS and 2-0 Minnesota at 2-0 Cal 7:30 ESPN. I thought Big Noon might have been in Iowa City to watch the Hawkeyes defeat UMass for Ferentz's 207th win and the record. But OBD, Penn State, and Indiana all play at Iowa later in the season. I expect USC at Illinois in Week 5 will be a Big Noon game. NW's temporary stadium is high school-sized at 12,000 capacity, but in a beautiful setting on the shore of Lake Michigan.
-
Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
I think I listed on another thread that the thing I was most looking forward to this season was the Moore to Moore connection, so was definitely on my radar. The thing I most underestimated was probably the running back room. We have a very deep and top end crew to survive the long season. Think that position was on fumes late last year.
-
Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
The Northwestern campus is in a beautiful setting despite the temporary stadium. It certainly is a hot ticket this week. There is nothing under $220 on StubHub which is likely due to limited seating. My guess is the show's producers chose to go with the great visuals (Chicago skyline, Lake Michigan, Ducks uniforms) instead of what Purdue and West Lafayette, IN had to offer.

Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
At first my comparison for Dak was DAT with the speed and evasiveness. After these two games I'm convinced that he will be much more than that. The route running and timing is more precise and Dak has three inches and 20# more fast twitch muscle on him. Much more advanced in his football IQ and overall development at this stage. And the blocking, oh my! Imagine if Dak had been flanking MM instead of DAT on the Nov 17, 2012 run against Stanford that failed to reach the end zone. Different outcome. No diss on DAT as we all loved him and what he meant to OBD success at the time, but Dak is just a different breed of cat.
-
Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
I think we did, as I know I underestimated him. We have had highly regarded receivers bust, such as Jurion Dickey, or others take a while to develop, such as Troy Franklin. But, Dak Moore is so far ahead of what I had hoped, and he is just what we needed to launch this offense and make a serious run in the Playoffs. Very grateful to have him!

Why is Big Noon Kickoff going to Northwestern?
Thanks for all the replies. I guess it is still the preseason so not very many good games to be had.

Oregon Football: Did We Underestimate Dakorien Moore?
Moore is a budding superstar. With the stacked WR room, I hope that opponents will overload against Moore thus leaving other receivers open including our great Tight Ends. Moore is dynamic and a playmaker. Go Ducks.
