  2. The sports 'press' occasionally astounds with it's lack of thoroughness and presumably AI driven writing. The players listed in the article are fast and football quick. We've seen what DAK, Finney and DHill2 can do. Lott should be a beast. But Hill's 11+ time is not track fast. For heaven sake, how do you leave Bair and his 10.15 sec 100 meter time (as a HS junior, no less) off the list? You line him up with the other four, and he smokes them by several meters.
  3. I would say that Riley is dangling by a thread of that rope and he better hope that highest paid recruiting class of freshman can play big time football fast.
  4. Oregon is looking to go penniless. We are allowed to round to the nearest nickel. I’ll be sending that amount right away.
  5. I will add a third sport that has be watched live ... Hockey. As far as baseball, I agree. Luckily 4 miles from my house we have the infamous Frontier League Evansville Otters, played in the same stadium as Tom Hank's movie A League of Their Own was filmed. For college football I can watch that any time, any day, live or on tv and I seemed to be counting days until the 2026 season stars.
  6. Even though the game was played in 2026, it is still called National Championship 2025, yet there is Natty clothing I hear showing both years 25 and 26 for IU's natty. What a strange world we live in. Also t-shirts have been seen in Mexico before the cartel riots that say Miami Natty Champions 2025. I have declared to a couple of Duck fans on X that I follow ... "I have made Oregon #1 to start the 2026 season and the odds on favorite to win it all ... you have everything you need to do that" One Duck friend accused me of doing that to jinx the Duck's 2026 season. Jon, have we gone to a cashless financial system now, or can I have my two cents mailed to you? 😎
  7. I recommend that Dana and Jackson go to Mars. Attorney Thomas A. Mars. Google him. 😁
  8. Sorry, friend NJ, for going out of bounds and commenting on this news item post. You are one of the Forum's premier posters, thank you, Sir! The CliffsNotes version of: The key to achieving Oregon's first national championship in 2026 - 1st - Indiana won the championship in January of 2026. Case closed. 2nd - Here's the key to winning it all in 2026-27: Monday, January 25, 2027 - Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Nevada - Oregon will have to score more points than the opponent. That'll be 2 cents, please. And have a really nice day. 😊

  12. Why Dan Lanning Is Worth Every Penny for the Oregon DucksAfter a 13-2 record for the 2025-2026 season, Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning finds himself in the middle of the top 10 highest-paid coaches across the nation. 13. The key to achieving Oregon's first national championship in 2026In short, the Ducks were explosive, but volatile. In some ways they were like a race car, capable of impressive speed, prone to glitches and breakdowns. The key to smoothing out their performance and executing with more consistency in big games lies with Dante Moore, specifically in his second-year improvement. Moore produced solid numbers in his first year as a full-time starter but had two terrible games against Indiana. Autzen ZooThe key to achieving Oregon's first national championship...Oregon's nucleus of senior leadership has marked them as one of the way-too-early favorites for the national championship.

  15. USA Today's Blake Toppmeyer article on Petitti's proposed 24-team playoff. I'm biased. But it seems to me that Blake's three arguments in support of the proposed PO make economic sense, and the three arguments against seem to be personal concerns over what he thinks could happen. I do like that Toppmeyer reminded everyone that last season, 8-4 Iowa defeated 10-2 Vanderbilt. I'll say it if he won't. Iowa played the more difficult schedule. College Football Playoff 24-team plan offers upsides — but not enough
  16. Hmmm… Is excluding purple from my wardrobe irrational? Btw…I only wear orange when state law mandates it.
  17. Yep. Some are wackos... My Husky Hatred is Irrational...is YOURS? (Pay no attention to who the author is)
  18. Two things that are annoying within college football, the purple mutt fans in Seattle, and the trojan band. Have to laugh that Riley is at the end of his $10 million rope.
  19. Agreed. It took 6 long years after the infamous “83 toilet bowl game” to finally muster enough wins to qualify for that bowl game. It put an end to the 26 year drought of sitting at home with no invites. They went 2-9 twice when I was at U of O. But, the rodents were one of the wins both times. Not the greatest year when that is what you hang your hat on for the highlight of your season. Two sports that must be watched live when you have the time, college football rivalry games, and baseball. The TV just doesn’t do either game justice.
  20. OREGON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2026 OREGON WOMEN’S GOLF | @OregonWGolf Romero Breaks Program Record With Fifth Career Win HUMBLE, Texas – Another Oregon women's golf record belongs to Kiara Romero after the No. 1 ranked amateur in the world captured her fifth career tournament win at the Chevron Collegiate on Tuesday at the Golf Club at Houston. Romero's dominance powered the No. 3 Ducks to a second-place finish in the 17-team field. After entering Tuesday's final round with a one-shot lead, Romero fired a 3-under 69 to win individual medalist honors by four strokes at 11-under par for the week. Romero earned her first win of the season and broke a tie with Kendra Little (2008-11) for the most individual wins in program history. "Kiara showed again this week why she's the best player in college golf and the top-ranked amateur in the world," head coach Derek Radley said. "She was locked in from the start and navigated this golf course beautifully. It was awesome to see her get another win and super special for her to break yet another program record. The legacy she is leaving here at Oregon is unbelievable and I can't wait to see what she does next." Led by Romero, Oregon got par-or-better performances from all five players in its lineup on Tuesday to post a 4-under 284 and move up and finish second as a team at 12-under par, six strokes behind No. 16 North Carolina for first and one stroke ahead of No. 20 Baylor for third. Kiara Romero Oregon has now finished as the runners-up in three of six tournaments in 2025-26, and the Ducks have posted top-two finishes 33 times since Radley took over in 2018-19. "Really proud of our team for finishing strong today with all five players at par or better," Radley said. "This was a good field and a challenging golf course. It was great to get Karen back in the lineup and all five of our ladies had some really good moments this week. Another good step for us as a team as we continue to try to get better throughout the spring before postseason." How it Happened: Romero got off to yet another hot start, making back-to-back birdies at holes 3 and 4 to quickly get to 1 under. She was 1 under at the turn before putting together a flawless back nine with seven pars and two birdies, including a birdie putt on the 18th hole to seal her victory. Romero (66-70-69) led all players with 18 total birdies across the three rounds, moving up to No. 6 in program history with 326 in her career. She has now shot par-or-better in 63 of 79 career rounds with 32 sub-70 performances, and she has placed in the individual top three in five of six tournaments this season. Oregon finished with two players in the individual top 10 thanks to a seventh-place showing by junior Karen Tsuru, who impressed in her season debut after battling injuries for much of the year. Tsuru shot par-or-better in all three rounds, opening with a 3-under 69 and a 2-under 70 on Monday before closing with an even-par 72 to finish at 5-under par. Sophomore Tong An joined Romero in the red for the final round, firing a 1-under 71 to earn a top-20 finish at even par for the week. An was even through eight holes after a double bogey, but she shot 1 under the rest of the way with a pair of birdies. Freshman Sophie Han and junior Darae Chung each matched Tsuru with even-par 72s to round out the counting scores, the best round of the week for both Ducks. Ducks on the Leaderboard: 2. Oregon — 280-288-284 — 852 (-8) 1. Kiara Romero — 66-70-69 — 205 (-11) 7. Karen Tsuru — 68-70-72 — 211 (-5) T-20. Tong An — 71-74-71 — 216 (E) T-47. Sophie Han — 74-74-72 — 220 (+4) T-61. Darae Chung — 76-76-72 — 224 (+8) Notable: Romero shot 7-under par for the week on par-4 holes, five strokes better than any team in the field ... An (-8) tied for the second-best score on par-5 holes, while Tsuru (-3) tied for third-best on par-3s ... Tsuru has now shot par-or-better 19 times in her career while An has done so 21 times, Chung has done so 18 times and Han has done so seven times. Up Next: Oregon will return to action at the Game Above Sports Invitational in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., on March 9-10.

  23. College baseball roster limit: 34, includes both scholarship and walk on players. Teams can offer up to 34 scholarships. Exceptions: Some programs potentially operating under a 40 man roster limit, if they opted out of certain House settlement terms. Designated Student Athletes (DSA). Existing players with a DSA tag may allow teams to exceed the 34 man limit temporarily as they finish their careers. According to the Duck baseball website, they currently have 39 players on their roster. Of this number, 23 players are listed as pitchers. However, three of these players, Naulivou Lauaki Jr., Hudson Carvalho and Cooper Markham are listed as pitchers/infielders. After eight games played, 18 pitchers and 16 infield/outfield players saw the field. That's 34 players. The five players who haven't made an appearance are Tyler Wick, infielder and four players who are pitchers. They are Jonah Barkoff, Blake Crawford, Tyler Jones and Cooper Strawn. It will be interesting to see if these guys play any games this season. If they do, then they will be over the 34 roster limit.
  24. This pitching....if it holds up and improves among the newbie relief pitchers--can take us to great places. On days where we face great opponent pitchers--ours can keep us in the game. Typically, when we lost games to Rhode Island or Portland last year for example...they were 12-11 and 10-9 kind of scores that I'd like to think our hurlers can prevent that this year. This pitching coach knows the players well enough already to know how good or not they are on a given day. Even Waz said that Sanford's performance was "good, but not his best stuff." Whew! Since we have so many pitchers--we can pull a starter quickly who is off on his control that day before it gets too bad. The pitching coach (Matt Flores) pull one pitcher after only one out, and a couple of walks...he's seen enough! The replacement shut the inning down with no runs given up. While I know that puts too much pressure on a pitcher to perform NOW...and could make him more nervous...what choice do we have? Sometimes you leave a pitcher who is struggling in, and he comes out of it. Other times he has buried you so badly that that game is lost. Use your strengths; if you have a boatload of pitchers--use them. Relief Pitcher Gabe Howard from West Linn
  25. They've been great so far, done exactly what they should against two mediocre teams, haven't really struggled at all so far, they've looked good in their wins, it hasn't been a bunch of games where they got some ball in play luck, they've looked dominant in most game, now they need to pick up some quality OOC wins this week.
