  2. Even with Saint Nick Saban co-chairing the newly formed Commission on College Athletics, I don’t believe Congress is prepared to ride in and fix what ails college athletics. Even Mr. FishDuck is skeptical, and took a break from his study at FanDuel betting, and Ncaaf latest news to share his doubts with me. College sports need NFL-like Congressional relief from ... 3. USC looks like they're out for Ryder Lyons! 5-Star Quarterback Ryder Lyons Cancels USC Trojans Visit: Oregon Ducks Visit Looms WWW.SI.COM Recruits in the class of 2026 and beyond are making hard choices...
  4. I remember when Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute mile and turned me into a track fan. Then Pre rekindled that original fire. They both live on.
  5. Nobody knows until the season starts. The greatest QB ever to play at Tennessee couldn’t win a national championship in 1997, but his backup did the following season.
  6. There is no "pressure" mounting. There are no "doubts". There is possibly the most talented team the UO has ever assembled that will just need some live game reps to gel into one of the best teams the UO has ever had. They may have a stumble or two in the season while gaining that experience or they may not. That's why they play the game but this is nothing more than manufactured pre season drama.
  7. Is anybody expecting him to carry the entire team on his back all year? Tough to have a QB with 5 years of experience every year. Moore throws a good ball, and the question of most younger QB’s is whether they can read defensive sets, and remember defensive tendencies during a game. In the words of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, don’t think, just do. We will find out if he can play ball at this level soon enough.
  8. Oh, that was a dandy, as is this one below... "Is Will Stein a genius or merely another coordinator with a flashy playbook?" Lovely. Another writer-hack who gives us a typical blah-blah article...
  9. He makes my point why we should NOT have conference tournaments. So we play 30, that is THIRTY CONFERENCE GAMES, to have the season tarnished by one game in a silly tournament? Oregon State lost four games to us, had a similar record, SAT OUT THE TOURNAMENT WEEK, and did just fine in the seeding.

  11. OK State, a B12 powerhouse that happened to go 0-9 in the B12 last season. ed! Take no opponent for granted, but Dante will have Moore experience than the QB who mounts up for the Cowboys. RB Ollie Gordon, after a great 2023 season and a bad 2024 season, is gone. Gundy will be starting close to an entirely new team in 2025.
  12. While people voiced their hatred of the tournament’s pool-play format, citing that it created “meaningless” games, I don’t think I watched a single contest that didn’t matter for NCAA tournament seeding Not really. If OBD had won the B1G they would not have been in the top 8.

  15. Pressure Mounts on Dante Moore as Doubts Emerge Over Dan Lanning’s $1.7M Mastermind’s Oregon Agenda
  16. Only way the NFL would agree to allow their players to participate? Ultimate Frisbee would be more interesting than this.
  17. Note, the B1G has indicated it will consider a 5-11 model, the highest ranked 5 conference champions and 11 at-large teams, with the field seeded following the PO Committee rankings, IF the SEC agrees to play 9 conference games. The winners and losers of a potential 5+11 Playoff model - Saturday Down South WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM What would be the pros and cons of the 5+11 College Football Playoff model? The winners and losers might surprise you.
  18. Judge Wilkins is in no hurry. What's holding up House v. NCAA? College athletics hinges on decision from judge with a meticulous reputation - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Even with revenue sharing set to begin on July 1, Judge Claudia Wilken's history suggests she's in no hurry to render a final decision

  19. The Sooners schedule is 'manageable?' 247 Sports ranks Oklahoma's 2025 schedule as being the nation's most difficult. Ott and Mateer were not teammates at Cal last season. Mateer played at Wazzu. Another below the Mendoza line expert take, right? Georgia and Clemson going Over their win total will be unexpected? "Lincoln Riley hasn't forgotten how to coach? 11-11 in the B1G with a Heisman-winning QB under center in 2023. 0-2 vs. Notre Dame when in the B1G. 0-2 vs. UCLA in B1G games. Five college football teams that will surpass 2025 win projections WWW.YARDBARKER.COM With the strength of college football conferences such as the Big Ten or SEC, predicting win totals has become more difficult than ever. Much of it has also become predicated on schedules. It...

  21. I ran on the same track as Pre... Once. He lapped me in the 2 mile, and probably could have done it again. I wasn't a great runner, but I thought I was decent... Til Pre.
  22. Five B1G teams, besides OBD, TOSU, and PSU, that could make the PO. Note, the Nebraska vs. Cincinnati game is being played in Kansas City, not Lincoln, NE. UW is one of the five and not Michigan? Michigan in 2025 has the easiest or the second-easiest B1G conference schedule. No games against Oregon, Illinois, Indiana, and Penn State. Games against B1G bottom dwellers Purdue, Maryland, and Northwestern should be easy peasy. OOC at Oklahoma will be tough, and at Nebraska and USC are not gimmes. Seven home games with That Team from Down South visiting Ann Arbor will help the PO cause. Split against SC and Nebraska, and Michigan should finish 10-2 and in the PO. Big Ten playoff sleeper teams: 5 who could make it, if things break right AUTZENZOO.COM Ohio State, Penn State and Oregon are playoff-likely teams coming out of the Big Ten, each with an over/under of 10.5 wins at FanDuel.
  23. He came to talk to my class at Pleasant Hill. He didn't have much to say, but then we went up to the track and ran a lap, and no he wasn't the nice guest. He won. Pre.
  24. Newer book that just came out that is worthwhile. Available in hardback, or Kindle on Amazon. Grew up in North Bend, and was in 4 th grade when Prefontaine broke the high school 2 mile record. A friend of my parents told us to go watch Prefontaine at a Marshfield track meet, so I can say that I saw him dominate an event as a senior before most knew of him. Beloved, and missed by all sports fans of that era.
  25. A lot of miles but without the burden of playing 8 B1G games in a row. A long haul to New Jersey, but the week prior, Rutgers will be playing in Seattle, so it will also be traveling coast-to-coast before the game. I like the timing of the trip to Chicago. I'd much rather play Northwestern on the shores of Lake Michigan early than later in the year. The week off before playing at Iowa is nice. Then home vs. Minnesota and USC before the short trip to Seattle. Week 6 and Week 10 off weeks are about as good as it gets. This is a far friendlier schedule than OBD faced last season. Thanks for the post.
