  2. This is going to sound like a "homer" comment and I don't mean to overrate this young, relatively inexperienced bunch of BullDawgs, but I see 4-5 teams rated higher than them who would be underdogs (gambling odds) in a head-to-head meetings on a neutral field. I remind you that the Dawgs lost to the same Bama team in week 4 last season and dropped way down in the polls. So what happened. They learned from their mistakes and ended up winning the SEC. They, like the Ducks, earned an ill-fated Bye (remember all Bye teams lost their initial playoff game). My point though is that polls are nearly meaningless at this point in the season. Saturday night, I congratulated my dear Duck fanatic buddy on the PSU win and said they should probably rise to #2 in the polls. His reply: Why not #1? I cautiously reminded him that polls this early don't mean squat and said the early ascendance To #1 last year really didn't work so well last year did it? So I ended up besting his predictive ability on most of the polls, but I was quick to point out that the Sunday morning ESPN poll did indeed have the Ducks at #1.

  4. Geo, likely a good call. But GameDay was in Norman for the Sooners vs. Wolverines game, and I think they could be planning to be on site for a Longhorns visit to Athens.
  5. Very interesting and well written article sir. The topic of rivalries , both new and old is a great topic to explore. Penn State is like the third wheel in most of it's B1G matchups. Oregon came in with Washington, but there's always room for more.
  6. Thank you, Charles. Great stuff! A tip of the hat to Penn State grad Todd Blackledge. He was informative and at no time showed bias except for acknowledging before kickoff that he was excited to be back for a White Out. Some really nuanced and in-depth comments, including picking up the OBD OL communication as shown above. Todd was generous at the conclusion of the 2nd OT with his praise for Dante Moore and Dan Lanning. I think he did a much better job with this game than he did in Autzen last season, covering the Ohio State game. The odds shown above now favor Indiana ahead of Penn State. 🤪 Amazing. Indiana will be well prepared for the game in Autzen on 10/11. Cig acknowledged that his team was humbled on both LOS in last season's road losses to Ohio State and Notre Dame. He picked the portal perfectly to improve both LOS. And Mendoza is an improvement at QB over the very good Kurtis Rourke. The man has lost two football games at Indiana. One against the 2024-25 National Champion and the other against the 2024-25 runner-up, Notre Dame. Humble the Hoosiers! Put Out That Cig!
  7. BTW....on his podcast--Colin Cowherd declared that, "Dante Moore is the Best Quarterback in America." Soak it up my Duck-Buddies....things change, but this is FUN!
  8. How do you negate the impact of 111,000 people? With GREAT coaching and preparation; simply elite.
  9. This throw, and this catch is just MONEY. Strong hands by Dak to secure and retain the catch, and leading the throw perfectly while on the run by Dante? Whew!
  10. Probably fair. But in terms of some of these rivalries getting some extra juice there is still the possibility of playing Penn State 2 more times this year..somewhat as t unlikely but possible.
  11. "It was like some sort of crazy torture in the movies. How do people do that so long without taking a breath? I think my ears are still ringing." — Adrian Peterson, former Oklahoma Running Back Beaver Stadium was an impressive sight, especially for a white out” and the pageantry was top notch but my wife and I both thought Autzen (and Husky Stadium when they are playing Oregon) are louder. Of course, we were not on the field so it would be interesting to hear from those who were. Then there is this quote from someone who coached in both stadiums: “"That's the loudest stadium I've ever been in." — Lloyd Carr, former Michigan head football coach
  12. Love the article and the follow-ups in this thread. Hey, it’s the Wild West and there are no rules, so I’m going to invent a rule that a team has to play at Autzen 5 times before they can be considered for rivalry membership.
  13. I think 12:30 is absolutely the best time for a college football game. I think we have hit the jackpot so far this year
  14. Ducks in the final two for five-star Tajh Ariza, son of NBA Trevor Ariza 5-star Tajh Ariza down to two schools, Oregon Ducks among them

  16. QB was the difference, as Moore made a number of incredible plays, and in the end....who looked more like the three year starter, and who looked like a newly starting QB? If Moore was a 'Lion...they might be walking away as victors? But this also comes down to the assistant coaches, and Lanning has been superb at finding a-diamond-in-the-rough in Stein, that nobody heard of, (only a couple years out from coaching high school? That a jab at his hiring) but has become one of the best OCs in the nation. Small differences that show up at big moments...
