Black Friday Games: Discuss Egg Bowl, Georgia vs. Tech, and Texas vs. Texas A&M!
In the final regular-season game of his college career, Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski made history. The Hawkeyes' signal-caller rushed for 64 yards in his team's 40-16 win at Nebraska on Nov. 28, increasing his season rushing total to 491 yards, breaking the program's single-reason record by a QB. The previous record was held by Kenny Ploen, who set the previous high mark at 487 yards in 1956. Ploen was the MVP in the 1957 Rose Bowl win over Oregon State. Gronowski had a net 25 vs Oregon, in a bad weather game where 42% of the Hawkeyes total yards came from rushing.

Black Friday Games: Discuss Egg Bowl, Georgia vs. Tech, and Texas vs. Texas A&M!
That win in Iowa City should be given more credit than it is getting. Iowa is demolishing Nebraska in Lincoln today. Iowa will be 8-4 with the four losses: 13-16 at Iowa State, on a late field goal 14-20 vs Indiana, with a Hoosiers late TD pass 16-18 vs Oregon, on a late field goal 21-26 at USC, after leading at half-time

Lanning Interviewed by Canzano
For Canzano, the emphasis is "look who I got for my show" as opposed to content - sometimes which can be silly. Not sure why Lanning decided to make time - and it's not just the 20 minute interview, more time is required - during game week preparation. A couple times he even looked like silly questions were an irritant. It's not the first time he's been down that road with Oprah Canzano.

Yikes! Oregon Beat by San Diego State 97-80
Play Creighton in the "0-2 championship" and it sounds like Creighton (at the link) has similar problems. https://archive.ph/AEGWm Creighton lost twice in Vegas by similar margins of Oregon's losses. The Ducks face Creighton at 11:00 am, Thanksgiving Day, on TruTV. Creighton's already played Gonzaga and lost 63-90. The way Oregon played tonight, I might be happy with a 27-pt loss. We'll have to see how badly Bittle's ankle injury may be. The Aztecs made 39 of 58 (67%) from the field, 11 of 23 (48%) from 3-point range, against the Ducks. Michigan beat SDSU by 40. Those could be some long plane rides home from the Midwest for the Ducks if score comparisons predict the future. That 67% was the highest ever allowed by a Dana Altman Ducks team. 8 different Aztecs were over 50%. The Ducks were 28% from 2-pt range in the second half.

Yikes! Oregon Beat by San Diego State 97-80
Oregon looks like a team roster a new coach would inherit after the prior one was fired. This performance is just ugly in many different ways. It is going to be a long Big Ten season. That game against Gonzaga on Dec. 21 is just not going to be pretty.

Will Stein To Arkansas??
Stein played and coached in Louisville and in Texas. There is some geographic semblance and high school recruiting territory for Stein. On a direct flight between two of his jobs at San Antonio and Louisville you essentially fly right over the top of Little Rock.

Coaching Carousels
Fargo Sources: North Dakota State head coach Tim Polasek has agreed in principle to a new seven-year contract, which will bring him through the 2033 season. The new deal includes a significant raise, additional staff money and more program resources. Guess that takes him off the Beavis radar. NDSU visits Autzen in 2028.

MBB: Oregon Beat by No. 21 Auburn 84-73
Auburn traditionally has some horses. Though this is the first game without Bruce Pearl as coach. 10-1 vs current B1G members in last 11. It was probably a respectable Ducks showing against the No. 21 ranked team. 11-23-22 – 43-42 Northwestern (neutral) 12-18-22 – 71-74 at USC 12-21-22 – 84-61 at Washington 3-16-23 – 83-75 Iowa (NIT) 12-9-23 – 104-76 Indiana (neutral) 12-17-23 – 91-75 USC 12-14-24 – 91-53 Ohio State (neutral) 12-21-24 – 87-69 Purdue 3-28-25 – 78-65 Michigan (neutral) 3-30-25 – 70-65 Michigan St (neutral) 11-24-25 – 87-73 Oregon 11-25-25 vs Michigan

Chip is Available
In 2007 Bellotti grabbed him from obscurity in New Hampshire, and Oregon agreed to pay him $150,000 to join the staff. Imagine the $$$ that has gone through his bank account, including severance payments, from the Eagles, 49ers, and now Raiders. His coordinator salary at Ohio State was $2million, and his salary in Las Vegas was $6 million. He let UCLA off the severance hook by resigning but grabbed a nice salary. I don't really feel sorry for him that "things haven't worked out." Every night he should be making an intercessory prayer in behalf of Bellotti. At some point his guru cachet has to wear out?

And There Goes Another: Cal fires Wilcox
"(Cal) would any of their players help Oregon next year?" Some replacement conjecture that Cal would promote Bryan Harsin in an attempt to hold on to the Cal freshman QB. If he "goes to market" expect USC to make a QB offer. I think USC's current QB is draft eligible. As for Lupoi, he knows his recruiting style requires resources. Loving your alma mater isn't a resource.

Trojan Passing Game...
I read this morning that Iowa lost 3 of its 5 o-line starters by very early second half. That probably made some difference in how they weren't able to move the line of scrimmage in the second half. The replacements were pretty inexperienced. Iowa's coach called Lemon the best receiver he's seen in 20 years.

Minnesota Postgame: Were You Surprised?
Single Game completion percentage, Oregon top 4 games .900 (27/30) Dante Moore – 11/14/2025 vs Minnesota .870 (20/23) Marcus Mariota – 11/3/2012 vs USC .857 (18/21) Dillon Gabriel – 9/7/2024 vs Boise State .852 (23/27) Bo Nix – 9/2/2023 vs Portland State I suppose an argument could be made that 3 of these 4 were in dink and dunk offense. But, Moore had some throws today that were not dink. Hard to remember those other games. After watching the two monsoon games, and having a couple receivers out, I wasn't sure what we would see in the passing game.

Ducks O-Line Joe Moore Award Semi-finalist
Fourth consecutive year the Ducks have been a semi-finalist. The only program with the last four consecutive. 10 semi-finalists for 2025. That number can vary, but has never been below 8 since the first award in 2015. Ducks have not been the recipient of the award...yet. Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Oregon are four of the ten semi-finalists.

Have the Pac 12 Zebras Replaced Their Patches but Not Their Stripes?
Before last Saturday's game I suggested that one difference you would see would be the physical nature of Iowa DB's in covering receivers. They seem to body-up on receivers then dare the refs to call pass interference. Feeling, the refs won't call them all, so take the chance. Due to the weather, there were not a lot of passes thrown, especially into coverage, so that didn't really materialize. I do believe they missed holding calls. In both cases, I think there is a philosophy within conferences with an emphasis of what will be called, and what will be "let them play." I believe we also saw it with Pac12 basketball which was more attuned to calling fouls (except in McKale Arena) in comparison to other conferences. I believe it hurt Pac12 teams when they got to the tournament to try to adapt to rougher play.

Interesting Question: 'Is Oregon Sandbagging Games?'
It's an aspect of playing in the Big Ten, and preparing to play physical. 2025 season total plays/games – national rank 6-Rutgers 726 in 10 15-Indiana 694 in 10 41-Purdue 643 in 10 46-Nebraska 635 in 10 84-USC 595 in 9 98-Maryland 587 in 9 101-Oregon 583 in 9 (64.8/game) There are 11 B1G teams located between Oregon and No. 133

Big Ten Schedulers Don't Seem to Want Oregon to Repeat, or Even Succeed
One other thing I don't understand....USC played 3 road games in Central and Eastern time zones in 2024, and are also playing 3 in 2025. That total of 6 is less CT/ET road games than the other 3 West Coast teams must play. Their last CT/ET zone road trip was Oct. 19 in 2024, and Nov. 1 in 2025. Ducks was Nov. 16 and Nov. 8. UCLA is Nov. 2 and Nov. 15 in those two seasons. UW is Nov. 9 and Nov. 8. So, why is USC "special" in scheduling?
