  1. USC and UCLA are full-share members; Washington and Oregon are not. They receive half shares of the media rights revenue through the duration of this contract cycle until summer of 2030.. The Huskies and Ducks do receive full shares of conference revenue related to the NCAA basketball tournament and College Football Playoff, with the latter scheduled to increase substantially in the 2026 season. The days of Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State sharing the Big Ten’s media rights cash equally are coming to a close, folks. We fully expect the conference to adopt a brand-based model for the next media deal. Which means this: The West Coast schools need to win. They need to win and draw eyeballs and contribute to the enhancement of Big Ten football, because an unequal-share distribution model can be....(coming to major conferences including the B1G) Why UW might not graduate to full Big Ten revenue shares in 2030 | Mailbag | The Seattle Times ARCHIVE.PH archived 15 Feb 2025 17:58:09 UTC
  2. "what really stood out to me in all these highlights is his comfort and ball placement" Albeit a short video plays sample, but what I notice is accurate delivery of the ball, with velocity, without setting his feet. He is moving on most of those video plays. If he has time to set his feet the result...?
  3. Read a remarkable stat today after Oregon State's road loss at U of Portland last night. Since the 2021 season ended with an Elite 8 appearance, the Beavers are 3-37 on opponents' home courts. Beavis has 3 more road games this season. Ducks are close to .500 in road games since 2021 which isn't stellar, but 3-37 - wowser.

  5. College coaches mull NFL-style OTAs as replacement for spring games amid roster tampering, injury concerns - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Many college coaches are stumping for major changes to the sport's offseason model
  6. They aren't the only ones considering dropping the game format and going to a "fan fest" type format. Fear of scouting? Fear of injuries? Fear of offending some kid who thinks he should be higher on the depth chart? For those programs which have garnered $$$ from modest entry fees and concession sales, it is an interesting move. Without a "game" will fans show up in problematic weather? Those biggest spring game crowd numbers may never be challenged again. Coaches may also tighten up on media access during practices.
  7. This may be the most frustratingly inconsistent - within game - Ducks team I can recall. Albeit as I age, my memory gets fuzzy. In the past, I've turned off the TV when the Ducks are playing poorly and trailing, or just being outplayed by a better opponent. With this team I find myself turning off the TV when they are leading. I can't stand the suspense of when they're going to go "full bonehead" and blow a lead. Watching off and on last night, I couldn't help but notice the entire coaching staff looks like it has aged about 10 years. Inconsistent ain't for sissies.
  8. Projected Super Bowl viewership stands at an average of 126 million viewers across Fox, Fox Deportes, Tubi, Telemundo and the NFL's digital properties. The 126 million figure is a new high viewership for the Super Bowl. Viewer totals hit their highest mark, 135.7 million, in the second quarter Within that 126 million, Super Bowl LIX posted a record-high streaming viewership of 14.5 million, with Tubi alone accounting for 13.6 million of that total. The College Football Playoff title game in 2025 averaged 22.1 million with Ohio State and Notre Dame. The record CFP Championship viewership is 34.1 million for the 2015 game between Ohio State and Oregon. In the BCS Game era, 35.6 million watched the title game in 2006 between Texas and USC.
  9. Receivers were not getting open, and again....the loss of Stewart was paramount. I can't recall even though the game was just yesterday. Were the Chiefs without a key receiver or two? It just seemed like the Eagles had made adjustments in their secondary coverage and then the D-line pressure was getting to Mahomes - putting him a box where he could be tackled, particularly as he had to hold the ball longer. I think maybe WR Sky Moore missed the game, but he was already on injured reserve and wasn't playing anyway. Mahomes had all his guys including Kelce. That Eagle defense was tuned in to what they had to do. It was not dissimilar to situation Gabriel faced with 8 sacks. Sometimes the D just has your number especially if their coverage forces longer ball retention regardless of what receivers are on the field.
  10. This is an excerpt from a column in The Athletic this morning: Credit the Eagles. They built a dominant pass rush and won the game exactly how other teams have beaten Mahomes over the years: by making him hold the ball until the pass rush converged. Mahomes' average time to throw (or to sack) correlated so strongly with the Chiefs' wins and losses. Through three quarters Sunday, Mahomes held the ball longer, on average, than he had in all but one career start (3.65 seconds). That shrunk to 3.30 by game's end, thanks to garbage-time production. Philly forced three turnovers — including a Cooper DeJean pick-six — and sacked Mahomes six times, one shy of tying a Super Bowl record of 7. The Eagles took a Chiefs team on the doorstep of NFL history and manhandled them up front, consistently getting to Mahomes behind just a four-man rush. Mahomes was pressured on 16 of his 42 total dropbacks, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didn’t call a single blitz in the game. It was D-line pressure. (Ohio State had 8 sacks of Gabriel. Gabriel’s average time from snap to throw was 2.6 seconds on Oct. 12, per Pro Football Focus. On Jan. 1, it was 3.4 seconds.) 11. Another one in the quasi "olden days" was Kasey Dunn. The highest-paid wide receivers coaches in college football: 2024 edition - Footballscoop I'm sure Lanning understands that while recruiting connections are important in the candidate, that the current WR's committed to Oregon want a good position coach.
  12. Ace Southeast recruiter still in the market for OC job WWW.SBNATION.COM Dameyune Craig is not currently an Oregon candidate.

  14. When Mahomes walked out of the hotel and got on the bus to the stadium, it was Bus No. 3 in line. Just say'in.
  15. Izzo gets "THE win." 353-171 in the B1G, age 70 at MSU 353-151 Bob Knight, age 59 at Indiana Not sure which of the two wins the Oscar for sideline performances? 12-0 at home, 2025 19-5 ranked No. 9
  16. As I noted earlier, I would prefer opponents in the West who put the team in good recruiting territory: ASU, Utah, Cal, San Diego. The first 3 of that 4 also means a cross conference (Big12, ACC) boost on strength of schedule. Any periodic game with OSU should be conditioned that both programs do not pay the other a visitor fee if they are home-and-home. In the unlikely event of a 2 for 1, then I could see UO paying OSU something for one of the games - just as it planned to do with Boise State. An "annual" game reduces schedule opportunities for other potentially attractive opponents.
  17. "....be tougher than the other team, that's what wins in the B1G" Aside from travel, new venues, fans who actually show up for games, coaching styles... the one thing I suggested before the season started still holds true. When you play in the B1G there is going to be a lot of banging and the B1G refs swallow their whistles. As I said, it may require Altman and staff to modify their recruiting priorities. But, it absolutely requires the roster to play tougher, more physical, than they did in the Pac12. No matter how this season turns out, players and staff need to really mentally encapsulate the lessons learned especially in B1G road games.
  18. "They just assumed that we would show up with the same game plan and beat OSU again, despite the widely reported changes that the Buckeyes made to their defensive scheme and offensive play calling. " It would be interesting to know the details of the actual game preparation. The results made it appear the Oregon staff watched the October game tape on an endless loop and assumed it would be the same. The staff are professionals, and I assume that was not the case. In the CFP it's win or go home. So, I assume the players were "motivated." But, it was just stunning how quickly it was 17-0, then 24-0. Someday I would like to hear more detail. At the pace it reached 24-0, it was more than just the loss of one player. We recognize Chip's contribution, but Knowles defense was in Gabriel's grill before he could do anything.
  19. My polite no is based on evaluating alternatives. I would prefer an FCS game, and a cross-regional Power 4 game such as a Big12 foe, ACC foe, or SEC foe to complete 2 of the 3 slots. The B1G and SEC have already had discussions about an annual game for each conference member. For the third slot I would prefer a rotation of old Pac12 opponents in areas that provide some recruiting boost: Arizona, ASU, Utah, Cal, and perhaps, BYU or WSU in lieu of Oregon State. Aside from nostalgia, I'm not sure what Oregon "receives" by scheduling OSU every season? Not saying, never, but annually just seems too much to me based on what alternatives might bring. Even Fresno St, San Diego St, UNLV occasionally?
  20. Is there a future for the Oregon State-Oregon football series? ‘We both have the will to get this done’ - oregonlive.com ARCHIVE.PH archived 8 Feb 2025 01:07:33 UTC
  21. for the stat interest, Rose Bowl, by quarter score - OS time - UO time possession 14-0 - 8:31 - 6:29 - OSU 45 yd pass, 42 yd pass 20-8 - 5:56 - 9:04 - OSU 46FG, 43 yd pass, 66 yd run, 36FG 7-7 - 5:32 - 9:28 - OSU 8 yd run 0-6 - 9:06 - 5:54 OSU: 181 rush, 319 pass UO: neg 23 rush, 299 pass It was 31-0 after 21:13 time of play, mid 2nd Q. OSU had drive possession for 6:53 in scoring 31 points. That's 31 points in 413 seconds, a point every 1-1/3rd seconds. They also had a 2:43 possession with a punt. So, I guess that is 31 points in 9:36 of possession. Ducks during that period of time: 11:37 possession, zero points.
  22. Unlike OSU, Oregon shows a negative $8.2M in conference distributions on the revenue side. How can you have negative revenue? It is a negative because of allocations of the Pac12 for the Comcast fiasco and money withheld from the Ten Escapees related to realignment. Since it was withheld, it becomes negative rather than zero on the statement. How can OSU be $10M positive conference distribution in their report, while Oregon is a negative $8.2M conference distribution. Uh, once OSU/WSU were given the purse strings by Libey, then things happen. Aside from making the OSU revenue look better than it should, my view of things is if there is revenue to give OSU a chunk, then they should immediately say "no thanks" to the most recent Legislature honey pot. So, think about that. $8.25 institutional support padding the OSU revenue picture, while $8.2 negative conference distribution for UO. That's about a $16.5M swing in revenue when added together. If you look at both schools' reports, that isn't the only anomaly you'll see. NCAA financial reports show giant budget hit to Pac-12 legacy schools ARCHIVE.PH archived 5 Feb 2025 05:04:18 UTC
  23. re: that $8.25M institutional support to OSU athletics... from UO: The UO Athletics Department is self-sufficient, meaning it does not receive funding from tuition or any general state operating funds provided to the university. The department covers all of its direct operating costs with revenue generated from ticket sales, Pacific-12 Conference distributions, gifts, and other revenue streams. The vast majority of collegiate athletic programs across the country are subsidized by their respective institutions. The UO Athletics Department is one of only a handful of programs that is self-sufficient, receiving no funding from tuition or any general state operating funds. Revenues and expenditures for athletics equal each other and do not generate a surplus. The university charges the UO Athletics Department, as well as other auxiliary operations (e.g. housing, the Health Center), an administrative overhead charge to account for the fact that they use university resources and services such as the financial system, general counsel’s office, human resources, etc. The UO Athletics Department also pays the university the full amount of any and all scholarships it awards to student-athletes in support of the institution’s academic operations.
  24. I believe the $10 million is after the fiscal year of this report? Not sure. But, the posted report does include $8.25 million "institutional support." I believe that is how money has been funneled to OSU athletics in the past. The Legislature allocates money to the university, which then does a bookkeeping transaction to athletics. Without the $8.25M, then there would be no surplus which the column says was $7.43M. In the report revenues, there is a line item for both media rights and conference distribution separately. Would be interesting to know whether some of that is "bag money" from Judge Libey's decision.
