  1. I saw this article earlier this morning and agree with just about all of it save one small point where the author thinks Ty has the slight lead for QB2. Based on what I saw in the Spring game I think Butters has the lead for primary backup at the moment.
  2. I like Rashada but 6'4" and 175 lbs?? Someone get that kid a sandwich!
  3. Bladder control issue?? Or perhaps an unhealthy addiction to overly spicy food?
  4. He was busy fighting off pancreatic cancer 😓 Thankfully it seems that he has a very optimistic prognosis and recovery going on, sending good thoughts to an excellent Oregon duck! Jaylon Redd had pancreatic cancer, but now he’s ready to chase his NFL dreams: ‘I’m ready to go’ WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM After successful surgery in January, Redd has been working his way back into physical condition in hopes of catching on with an NFL team.
  5. I echo others here that it's likely DL is rotating the QBs for a couple reasons: continued and fair evaluation for each with comparable personnel to work with and to keep each engaged to minimize transfer risk. That being said, I think it can't be discounted that maybe Butters is starting to flourish in the kind of offense Dillingham is putting together. He's the only pro-style QB (top 5 in his recruiting class) in what's claiming to be a fast-tempo pro-style system, plus he has an extra year in the college ranks over TT.
  6. This kid's build reminds me of Juwan Johnson, big receiver that will cause all sorts of matchup problems for DBs, great pickup. Reclassifying as 2022 is great for the WR depth but I was under the impression that Oregon's at their scholarship limit. Does that mean we'll see a transfer soon?
  7. I do agree that kids and many adults can make questionable decisions. But I'd like to think that blue chips that were/are ranked as high as Justin typically have a reasonable support system around them to help make the best practical choices, otherwise he probably wouldn't have gotten to 5* status or survived this long into his collegiate career. Leaving a perennial Pac12 championship (and fringe CFP) contender with prime choice defensive coaches for a Miami program in a complete rebuild phase would seem to be an easily identified bad choice for him.
  8. Having to play the defending national champions the 1st game of the season should at least warrant a top 25 rank on SoS...I don't know what these writers are smoking 😛
  9. I think that despite the local cultural anti-Ducks spirit here in the state, the overall lack of success by the UW football program during the last 20 years is now breaking the mentality of "Oregon is bad no matter what" for local recruits. There are very few blue chips that would want to play for a local program that's been at best mediocre during their formative years and that vaunted "(shared) national championship history" is so far in the rear-view mirror that it really doesn't factor much at all in the consciousness of today's high schoolers. Sam Huard is there primarily because his dad was a Fusky. Five years is already a long time for a high school recruit in terms of history; 20+ is multiple generations ago and just isn't relevant to them anymore.
  10. I doubt he would leave. He'd be jumping ship from a head coach who just won a national championship as a DC along with the current DC who's also won a national championship as a DC. As a defensive player it just doesn't get much better than that.
  11. He may break into the two-deep but not starter. He needs to add at least 20lbs first and dragging out his recruitment to April prevented him from important experience with Spring workouts.
  12. Wooooah, color me genuinely shocked and pleasantly surprised. Coached Klemm earned his paycheck this month!
  13. Bingo. Insofar as 2022, 2023 success I would surmise a 10 win 2022 season and a Pac-12 championship in 2023 would be fertile enough grounds to attract some of those blue chippers. That being said, NIL money may be the key to getting those top tier recruits. I don't like saying it or thinking about it but looking at it from a pragmatic standpoint.
  14. Probably a good example of this is his tolerance of Grayson Allen. That kid would have been kicked off most other teams for his horrendous behavior.
  15. I saw that and was amazed. I don't know what his 40 times were when he was actively playing for Oregon but it feels like he's even faster than before despite the injuries he's had. Extremely impressive, I hope he at least signs as a free agent somewhere...I'd love to see him get onto special teams as a punt returner and take one to the house!
  16. That's unfortunate to see but understandable. OL is one of the places where there's solid depth and experience so playing time might be hard to come by for him, I wish him well and hope he lands at a good place.
  17. 2022 5-Star Defensive Line Recruit Lebbeus Overton Announces College Commitment - Sports Illustrated Oregon Ducks News, Analysis and More WWW.SI.COM Overton was one of the top uncommitted prospects in 2022 Well, onto the next priority recruit.
  18. Yeah, I have similar issues with commute up here in the Seattle area. I wasted 1-2 hours every day just in commute until I started working 100% remote.
  19. Glad he's back to add depth. The team never specified the reason why he had to leave for a while, I'm going to guess maybe academics was the issue and that it improved to the point where he could return to the university.
  20. The company I worked for was in the same boat. We had a COO who was staunchly against remote work and it took the pandemic to make it happen. The result was productivity was even higher when the company was 100% remote...so much that for most of the 1st year the company instituted a company-wide mandatory paid day off every other Friday because management was worried about employee burnout.
  21. My personal fear is that getting 5* or high 4* recruits will require dumping a chest full of money to each every year. I don't really have much faith that NIL will be fixed any time soon and we're seeing very quickly that coveted players are becoming surrounded by seedy bidding wars. There are a limited number of high caliber blue chips out there and getting the right ones have likely become exponentially more difficult. I think what's going to happen is that unless Oregon starts shelling out like those other schools it will fall and perpetually stay as a 2nd tier football program...one that is successful but always just slightly out of reach of CFP level.
  22. 5-star OT predicted to pick USC Trojans over Oregon Ducks DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A flurry of new predictions don’t look too good when it comes to the recruitment of 5-star OT Josh Conerly. Looks like USC will be getting him.
  23. The big thing to remember here is that star rankings are a rough evaluation of a football player's talent at the high school level, emphasis on "rough". A lot of what goes on when those ratings are calculated are subjective which is why results will never, ever be perfect. Subsequently you have to look at this from an aggregate level, which is what this on3 article is doing. 63% of 5 star players are drafted, according to them. Given the sheer number of college football players vs NFL roster availability, there's a pretty small percentage of players that make it...so in that context, 63% is a pretty high hit rate. Compare that with 4 star and 3 star rankings they list in the article: Assuming their numbers are accurate, a higher number of stars means you're more likely to get into the NFL but it's not a guarantee which the article does not say it is in any way.
