  1. Some guys just prefer a fixer-upper. It makes them feel needed. The only problem is they'll never be truly fixed.
  2. I just watched that this morning. Yogi also said Lanning would announce on August 30th, so game day. The other interesting thing I noticed from the B-roll video is Moore's body language is waaay more confident than Novasad's. I think like most, we will probably not here anything until just before the game starts and it will be Moore. Next question will be if makes sense for QB2, who is in the same eligibility class as QB1, to stick around for the season. There is no future here for QB2 outside of an injury to QB1.
  3. I think by week 10 Oregon should be as good as any team in the country unless our passing game is really dragging us down. So it's good that outside of PSU our toughest games are in November. Everyone is really high on OSU, but 2 new Coordinators is a level of risk we don't have to deal with. Remember the DC Day brought in for 2021? There is no guarantee they pan out.
  4. Yes, the season can't get here soon enough, yet this is the last week of fall camp with 1st game prep beginning next week, so it kind of snuck up on me that shouldn't we have a QB1 announcement soon? OSU just announced Sayin as their QB1. At what point do we start to legitimately wonder if we have a real QB controversy between Novasad and Moore? For me, it's Monday next week if fall camp is over and still no announcement. It's not like we need to keep our QB a secret from Montana state. I mean, it's possible Dan would do that, but it's more likely we would see 2 QBs battling it out against Montana state to win the starting job like Harbaugh did with McCarthy a few years back. What do you all think?
  5. Using chrome on Android. After the one forced re-login, no issues.
  6. Bartering strategy; start extreme to make sure you end up where you want to be at, 11+5
  7. I've thought about this, and I think there are a few reasons: There are no big cities and a lot of people went to smaller schools, and therefore prefer the smaller college atmosphere. I went to a small 1A high school and Oregon Tech at 2500 students was WAY more appealing to me than OSU with 10000 students for my engineering degree. For the Dakotas and Montana schools, they are the highest level schools in the state. If you want to play higher than FCS you have to leave your home state, and the scholarship may not even cover the out of state tuition increase. There is little national recruiting going on in these states where the talent density is so low due to the small populations, so G6 type of talent can be missed. Long story short these schools simply have higher talent levels than other FCS schools that only get leftovers from G6 and even P5 programs out of high school.
  8. The fact the Bedford who was the alfa last year before his injury is struggling to start anywhere is surprising. Maybe his injury really took him down a notch or the others are just that good, or a bit of both.
  9. I've been thinking the same thing. He's the only mission critical person on the whole team. The dude shouldn't play a single down more than absolutely necessary to ensure a win. I certainly hope Pickard isn't #2 on the depth chart after fall camp, but I haven't heard anything to make me think otherwise.
  10. I just feel like this OL MUST be better on run blocking, because Moore won't be a Heisman finalist, and there is no Tex Johnson on the outside to work miracles. We need our run game to work the miracles this year and I'm hoping and sensing this is just the O Line to do it.
  11. My biggest hope is somewhat confirmed by Coach Lanning during the post practice Q&A: Q: How has the offensive lines pre-snap recognition improved over the past two seasons?Lanning: "I mean, we had a really strong group a year ago, and I have a really, really strong group now."
  12. Yeah, they will continue to matter until a fair format for determining playoff participation is employed, and who knows when that will be.
  13. If I had to bet, I don't think DG ever starts a game in the NFL, but I'd by happy to be wrong. It certainly doesn't help he went to the Browns, who apparently are not satisfied with their prior pace of QB careers destroyed per year metric over the last two decades. Maybe the Browns will do him a solid and cut him before they permanently destroy his reputation.
  14. My best memory of Taggart was him icing the OSU kicker just before halftime while we were up by 30 points, with an indignant look on his face of how OSU could be so disrespectful with their trash talking of Oregon. My next best memory is watching the opening FSU game where they looked horrible and Taggart looked like he wanted to hide. It made me realize that Oregon's program is what was special, the coach was just one part of the equation and any coach should be counting their lucky stars to have the program's wind at his back
  15. I remember Bo in the spring game of his second season with us.. The dude was an "easy button" for the offense. Moving the ball was so effortless I felt like I should watch the offense play from a hammock out of respect. I expect Bo to have big jump with his second year in the NFL as well, and given how good was last year, that sounds a bit crazy, but it is what it is.
  16. Now I understand even more why he gets off the ball so much faster than any of the OL or DL that you think he jumped offsides. A 36 inch vertical indicates an explosiveness few have. He does need to harness that a bit though as he has one of the highest missed tackle rates behind the line of scrimmage if any DL in the country. He needs to break through and get his but down, not continue to accelerate upright trying to steer the Titanic. I'd love to see him practice some of those Jordon Scott swipes at the ball as it is being snapped. I'm convinced that swipe at the ball against Washington on 4 and 1 that caused the fumble is what ended Peterson's coaching career. That response of him folding over and grabbing his knees for a long time looking like he was questioning his life decisions is ingrained in my brain.
  17. With regard to bye weeks, the NCAA and the conferences should agree to the middle two weeks of the season to give half the teams in the conference a bye on the 1st of the two weeks, then the other half on the second week, that way everyone is getting rested in the middle of the season. That would be huge for player health as injuries typically happen when players muscles have been fatigued by the grind.
  18. It's great to have the highest per recruit average grade, at the same time I chuckle about the metric because nothing brings your average down like a kicker or long snapper. If we add one of them later our lead may be toast.
  19. The real benefit of 1st team vs second team reps is building chemistry between QB 's and WRs. So the timing of deciding who is the starting QB as well as the 1st team rotation of WRs is equally important.
  20. Making any list with so many new QBs is a fools errand. A whole lot of mid QBs in the big ten is most likely, again nothing like we saw in the Pac12, I'm dying to be proven wrong, but I think Demond Williams is probably top 3 if he can clean up the freshman mistakes. Maybe that's not too different than one could say about Moore either. If the route tree is improved and OL is good enough and Moore can just play 7 on 7 it could be special. If our OL struggles at pass blocking and the game still moves too fast for him it will be a long season. My big 3 stats for Moore this year are sacks taken, interceptions, and throw aways (i.e. not missing reads and ability to extend plays).
  21. This article is a swing and a miss: Oregon motivated by College Football Playoff loss to Ohio State If I had Lanning alone in a room and was able to discuss the topic of the Ohio State game I would have said the following: You and/or your coordinators have previously said you schemed to beat OSU in the Rose Bowl the same way you beat them at home early in the year, despite OSU playing a very different style of play against Tennessee in the first round of the playoffs. Did you, your coordinators, or your analysts even watch the OSU vs. Tennessee game the week before the Rose Bowl If not, what the heck were you doing, if you did, why the heck did you change anything schematically and preparatory for playing OSUs new style of ball? We know there is a lot recruiting happening in the weeks leading up to the Rose Bowl. Did that significantly interfere with your ability to adequately prepare for OSU in the Rose Bowl? What are you, the coaching staff and the analysts going to do differently with your preparation process in the future to prevent this from ever happening again?
  22. I think it's going to be the other way around this season. Our secondary will shut down the WRs and give our DL, Edges and OLBs time to get to the QB. Like 2019, INTs, PBUs, coverage sacks and throw aways on 3rd and long will be the way we get stops on D this year. Something we couldn't do last year.
  23. In the same way Gabriel was a bit of a step down from Nix, I feel our new QB will be a bit of a step down from Gabriel at best. I think we are a year away from having a really good QB. Whether it's this year's QB on year 2 on the field, or Moga or Akili developing past this years starter, next year will be better.
  24. I don't know if creating a trust is communist or fascist or whatnot, but that's a gem. Athletes knew they were being screwed 100 years ago. I definitely am not super interested in an executive order due to its temporary nature, which will just create more stuff to adapt to. Although maybe we should be for this constant churn as UO seems to gain an advantage by being innovative in adapting to these changes better and quicker than anyone else, giving us an advantage with roster building.
  25. Maybe he was held back a year when he was younger, and will graduate with his actual age group. In which case he is short on a year of experience rather than physical development. And Penei Sewell did pretty well as a 17 year old freshman..
