There is no guarantee Tech comes out off, but it is something that could be a factor, and certainly something they have to overcome moreso than us. I've been surprised by the cold reception of Whit by many pundits. Are they ignorant or just plain stupid? In coaching circles Whit has been the most respected head coach in college football for the last decade. And as mentioned, his blue collar style is a perfect match for Michigan. He'll have the resources he needs to get great players who will want to play for him. Look how good DeBoer has recruited at Alabama, despite not being able to recruit his way out of a paper bag at UW. This is a home run hire for Michigan. They will be back to their perch by 2027 at the latest.

I've had way too much time thinking about this. With the spread so close our passing advantage and a healthy Morton, I'm betting on the over as a pun, this game is going into overtime running the score up. Oregon wins 39-32 2 T/O 3 sacks 280 yards passing.

I do agree with Mike's takeaways, but then again what would TTU be saying about us if the only games they watched were Indiana Penn State and Iowa? As said above, turnovers are what create the large score differentials for TTU. Our RBs don't fumble, so it's on Dante Moore to take care of the ball and limit that occurrence. TTU coaches have had a month game plan for us. They don't normally blitz, but maybe this time they do use a scheme more similar to Indiana, bringing and simulating pressures with the LBs. I am concerned we will get out coordinated again, especially with Tosh and Stein's limited bandwidth. Although it did just occur to me that the distractions of recruiting for Oregon don't fall on their plate anymore. And DL has learned from the Rose Bowl you simply have to game plan better, including hypothetical things the other team may try on you. Also with Morton finally being 100% mobile again we have to game plan for that probability of him using that mobility that hasn't shown up on film, both in escaping pressure and designed runs. I do have confidence we will be ready to play our hardest most confident effort, especially along the OL. One of the biggest things to suffer with long layoffs is tackling, so hopefully we do try to play some old Stein ball that tries to get players in a little bit of space that puts the onus on tackling for TTU.

Now USC needs to not pull a Tennessee against TCU. Their two star WRs opted out.

ILLINI played 3DBs 15 yards or more back from scrimmage and Tennessee kept trying to pass until deep into the 3rd quarter. THEN they started running the ball and came back.

This is going to be like Oregon stealing recruits that used to pick USC. It will be interesting to see if there is a drop in talent at Texas over the next 2 years.

This is a good discussion. Delaying the season so long is just to keep the big bowls on New Year's, but what is the point if nobody shows up anymore because it's 3 away games for fans now not just one. This is just not working for anyone.

Maybe they are saving them for the Natty, but there is only a 25% chance of getting to wear them.

I'm most curious about Indiana, the team that barely practices to see how they start.

Maybe YouTube's algorithm thinks I'm a TT fan, but it seems like most lower grade pundits are picking TT. Lots of living in a bubble TTU fans with poor logic commenting too thinking they are going to beat up on us. I think the spread is over 3 by game time for a reason though. It is supposed to be close, but the deeper you dig, the more you see Oregon has the edge. Still, it's so close that whoever can play hardest for 4 quarters with the fewest mistakes will win. Since Oregon played more recently, that edge should be to Oregon.

They will never be good again until they get rid of Dabo. He burned bridges with the African American community, then refused to utilize the portal in meaningful way, and I haven't heard anything about their NIL, he probably thinks it's bad for the moral character of the players to get a cut of the profits, and detrimental to the sanctity of the game. That's not a recipe for successful talent acquisition.

Can't claim victory yet, but 5-0 is way better than the SEC's 2-3, soon to be 2-4 if LSU can't pull it out VS. Houston.

Charles can get on me for saying this, but you’re the smartest guy on this forum. I saw two teams playing hard to win. It was fun to watch.

BYU barely beats GT in their bowl game. TTU beating them twice was a feather in their cap. TTU is very similar in style to Iowa in the sense that they have a strong defense and special teams, and are 1st in turnover margin and takeaways that give the offense a short field. TTU is better than Iowa, but we have seen this type of team before playing against the bad weather and the refs and won by avoiding turnovers and 3rd and longs (outside the penalties). I think this similarly could be a low scoring game in the high teens low 20s. The line is starting to shift in Oregon's favor a bit too, up to 2.5 now. I think it will continue to drift higher as the game gets closer.

I love how they really lean into the Pop Tarts band with no apology. They have colored sprinkles on the white boundary like it's a frosted pop tart. They get some of the best matchups too, and the games are always entertaining. This year it's BYU and Georgia Tech. I just saw a defender punch out a ball with his heel while he was face planting. There have been 3 turnovers in the red zone. It's fun entertainment that I think epitomizes what makes bowl games special. I know they are becoming the NIT tournament of football, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring if the teams are competitive and the pomp is fun.

The issue of race is probably the predominant factor for the shift followed by money. The distribution of African descendent americans is uneven and obviously most concentrated in the South where they were initially brought. Statistically speaking those same individuals are on average more athletically talented, resulting in a concentration of talent in the southeast that was not allowed to thrive there until desegregation. The wasn't too much of a time gap between the end of segregation and the beginning of under the table pay for play ( a decade or two) which muddied the cause and effect.

The score was WAY closer than the game. If Penn State wasn't slip sliding and dropping balls on crucial downs and explosive plays this wouldn't have been close. Clemson couldn't do anything on offense nearly the entire game. They were swarmed and smothered.

He understood the assignment. He also was noticeably worn out in the JMU post game press conference per some reports. Dan Lanning and the new DC may have to do some heavier lifting on the defensive side from here on out if Tosh is too compromised from his Cal duties.

Apparently Sagapotule is staying with Cal next year, which seems like insanity since any top flight team without a returning QB would pay a pretty penny for. I have to think Tosh has been using his recruiting magic to retain the best pieces of this Cal team, and can improve it through recruiting going forward.

My biggest concerns are: Ducks flying south for the winter Dante Moore against an elite pass rush. The refs.. Flying to warm weather on the opposite side of the country and playing at 9am isn't the stuff fast starts are made of, but I'll be thrilled if we come out playing 110 percent. Dante Moore has played better against pressure since Indiana, but we still can't say for sure he won't regress against the #1 pass rush defense in the country. With a game this close and where yardage on offense will come at a premium I think the Refs hold our season in their hands. If they are flag happy we are doomed. TTU 1st downs on PIs and drive killing 3rd down penalties against our offense would probably prove too much. Glass half full thoughts: I think DL and the OL are absolutely sick of hearing how good TTU's DL and LBs are. That they can pressure the QB just rushing 4 and that they have the best run defense in the country. The OL demoing the jerseys was a statement of intentions. Hopefully with another week and a half Kory Moore is back to full form and Evan Stewart is available at least as a decoy. We really need our WR to be blocking lights out this week. Getting explosive plays on the edge, including bubble screens will be critical.
