  1. If only we didn’t start the playoff with a rematch. As to the PAC media deal. I think there’s a ton of fuzzy math and we’re seeing a lot of distortion. One big one, I believe the conference is responsible for producing games on the CW. Not an insignificant cost. There’s a reason they’re being tight lipped, if it was a “clean” $9m per team I think they’d be bragging more. They’re trying to kill shot the MWC with every breath, if the deal was almost double what the MWC is getting, it feels like we’d hear about it, loudly.
  2. I would guess a version of Clownzano’s dream will eventually happen, but not as he fantasizes. There will probably be a formal break away with a new division/super league/whatever you want to call it. Whoever doesn’t become part of that new world order will probably reorganize with other non top tier schools, which could/should include some geographic realignment. What this shift won’t include imo, is arbitrarily elevating current G6 programs based on geography. Quite the opposite.
  3. Yes, as we’ve known for decades, “physical” is often been a euphemism for slow when it comes to the garden variety B1G imo. Are there exceptions at the top? Absolutely.
  4. We’re definitely awesome! But - Great and necessary to have the revenue and exposure, but overall top to bottom, this conference really has nothing competitively on the PAC in its heyday.
  5. 😂 As someone with a last name that gets mistaken as “Lucifer” on a regular basis (one letter removed), I have no doubt this happens to him a lot, especially with auto-correct.
  6. Actually is a shocking stat, and that’s pre-NIL. One would think it’s going to become more common. Top programs are going to be creating all-star teams more and more. What’s the motivation to pay freshmen unless they’re good enough to start from day 1?
  7. I didn’t say it was necessarily a good plan that will work 😆…but it does demonstrate some will to attract a theoretical franchise. Hopefully we can summon up the will to try to retain an existing franchise.
  8. We had 350 yards of total offense, averaged 3.0 ypc, had 9 penalties, and were 33% on 3rd down against BSU. That does not scream out good offensive line play imo. Just sayin.
  9. And yet, have put together a MLB package.
  10. Didn’t need elite matchups to get exposed, struggled mightily against Idaho and probably should have lost to Boise. OBD patched it together, to go 13-0…but what does this say about the average B1G team last year? Personally I have little doubt this oline will be better.
  11. It’s August which means I’m allowed to get excited about the roster. Pretty sure he’s going to blow up!
  12. There are a lot of crap shoots in the first half of their schedule. Fresno is in a reset, Cal seems to have lost their good players, but they drubbed Beavis last year. Trip to Boone won’t be a sure win by any stretch. 0-6 is certainly not impossible, but I’m guessing a couple of their first 6 opponents will end up being terrible teams and Beavis will end up starting 2-4, then hope to stay healthy enough to finish up 4-2 down the stretch. All very difficult to forecast given the portal world, but one would think any P4 team should be bringing in better new players than Beavis.
  13. tOSU Michigan PSU Wisconsin/Iowa to a degree unless they’re about to stay mediocre. That’s it from my view, and it’s plenty given we have 3 rivals from the real PAC. We’ve beat Michigan 3 straight including twice on the road, I would hope that might fire them up a little. The rest of the conference is wildly inconsistent and with schedule rotation we won’t play any of them enough (prior to the new “super conference” starting within a few years) to develop anything imo.
  14. I’d put them both at 6 wins. The Sewer Rats have a much worse floor though IMO. Their front loaded schedule makes losses more likely even at full strength. Thin depth could make the second half of their soft soft schedule worse than anticipated with a few key injuries and some wear & tear. They also play 5 P4 teams, with 3 of these being perceived as teams in transition that they play at home and they seem to be penciling in as wins. I’d say in the age of NIL there’s a reasonable chance those squads (Cal, Wake, Houston) will have better rosters than the rats.
  15. $40 Billion endowment, these are all choices being made.
  16. If Clownzano thought he was asking me a “hardball” question I’d just start laughing and close Zoom.
  17. They should just be for fun to start dialog. They shouldn’t serve any purpose if SOS is ever actually implemented for assessing a playoff ranking halfway into the season. Alas…
  18. We’re getting a home/home no matter how much most fans (imo)on both sides don’t want it. Clownzano
  19. Agree we should never play a G6 on the road, but apparently Beavis is a special exception to this.
  20. Well my smart-aleck answer is not at all. As mentioned above, he did serve as the catalyst for better recruiting, but there’s a lot of possible cart before horse even with that. He was the first “outsider” coach in decades, it’s possible that any decent recruiting “outsider” could have elevated recruiting, we’ll never know.
  21. Did we have NIL starting in 1994? Interesting logic.
  22. The general strategy seems to be to simply spend the bigger $$ on players who will play right away, regardless of how old they are, but there are no absolutes or simple formulas. USC has an incredible HS class. We’ll see if spending a ton on HS talent upfront is a whiff in short order. Although at a different scale and out of necessity, I think our buddy at CU was ahead of the curve on this front.
  23. With this schedule, 9-3 feels like a worst case to me. As in, we have a negative QB situation we will still go 9-3 with that schedule.
  24. Awesome, bring it on! This is hardly the time to take it down a notch.
