It’s all semantics really. Personally, when I hear “need based”, it sounds reactionary. I think as it stands now, getting 30-40% of your roster from the portal is the smart way to go. Let others polish those 2 and 3 stars and then steal them to add to your core of 4 and 5 stars. Aside from evolving to get a few more 5 star dudes out of HS, I think we’re on the forefront of how to work it and should have a kingpin title.

I suspect he’s old school and not used to re-recruiting players once he gets them on the roster. Beavis, arguably has it worse. Make the Elite 8 with everyone on the roster eligible to return, and then lose 80% of your starters in 2 weeks while headed to the WCC with no recruiting class in hand, major ouch. Overall women’s hoops is riding a wave of massive popularity at the moment, but IMO whether or not that sustains is very much in question. Having the “right” all time scoring leader to showcase won’t be an option next year. Apathy may be lurking.

This also happened in a year the conference was as strong as it had been in some time. Year 3 is traditionally when a team is fully the new coaches team, so look out!

Though they are the eternal “sleeping giant”, most of their fanbase doesn’t seem to have giant expectations.

They are always held to their commitments in that there is a penalty (agreed to by both parties) to be paid for leaving early, I don’t recall any breach of contract ever taking place.

Indeed, CW could in theory have better distribution than the old P12 network, which would be amazing, if that was the only way they were previously broadcast.
