Whew! Men and Women of Oregon EXPLODE on the Track...
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
On the track and in the field! -
This actually happened last season. The ball bounced in their favor against Arizona & ASU at the beginning of the season, and again against UCLA at the end, before the championship game against the Ducks. USC was last in rushing offense last season,

I love a question where there are no wrong answers! My pick is a quarterback I hope Duck fans never forget. He is what I hope Ty Thompson turns out to be. Reggie Ogburn! He was the Ducks quarterback in one of the best games the Ducks ever had. September, 27, 1980, 34-10, Oregon over Washington, in Husky Stadium. Reggie scored twice himself, the RPO completely baffling the Husky defense.

Will Henry To’oto’o Please Fix Our Defense?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm sure we would all be overjoyed if somehow troy Dye was still here. If To'oto'o can come even close to replicating Dye, than he definitely is answering the call. Wherever he is positioned, he would make the defense better. -
J.T. Tuimoloau is Stringing Out His Recruitment
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is very true. The best pitch is what Saban can tell the recruits, "the Championship game is on our schedule". Until Cristobal can say that too it's going to be tough. You need the championships to get the players, and you need the players to get the championships. -
I just tuned in ESPN awhile ago, just in time to hear randy Moss say, "and I'd like to introduce my Rookie of the Year, Justin...Jefferson" What? I understand that Moss was a WR, like Jefferson. Jefferson had a really nice season with the Vikings, even set some team records, But seriously, there's one Justin that should win ROTY, and it's Herbert, not Jefferson.

Mario Cristobal: On the Verge of Superstardom?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I am in favor of getting players experience. I would not employ it as end of game strategy though, unless you're talking up 21 with 3 minutes left. -
Sure am. North 1. Oregon 2. Oregon State 3. Stanford 4. Washington 5. WSU 6. Cal South 1. Utah 2. UCLA 3.USC 4.ASU 5. Colorado 6. Arizona

Interestingly, Washington fans never miss citing the importance of Nike, Phil and Penny.

Washington wants to make sure they only play home games again.

Mario Cristobal: On the Verge of Superstardom?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes, we go back to what Mario told us, that he would keep everything the same, just, "do it with bigger, better players". "Prevent offense" is not keeping everything the same. Scoring the 21 points in the 4th quarter to put the other team away is not only more entertaining than playing the clock out, it has fewer variables that could trip you up. -
That is true. The recruiting power is here. KT, Sewell, Flowe... They did come to Oregon, along with some other great players. But now with JTT, the stage is set, it's Alabama, Ohio State or Oregon. If JTT says OREGON, the heads won't just turn, they'll shake.
-
Could not agree more, David. Not only does Oregon face many more challenges than does Clemson, it faces more than any of the other top 10 teams. We see it play out on the field, we are also "seeing" it play out in the recruiting of JTT. This extremely talented player is deciding to go to Alabama, Ohio State or Oregon. If he picks one of the first two it's status quo. If he end s up with a Duck hat on his head, it's a major shift change. Cristobal has blunted the narrative of not being able to recruit to Oregon, landing JTT would solidify Oregon as a recruiting power, it would get Oregon closer than its ever been to having the talent level of the elite teams. Cristobal has Oregon going in the right direction, building on the foundation he landed on, and the final step up is the steepest.

A few years ago I just dismissed Saban. Of course he wins, and gets all the great players. But the last couple of years I did a 180; I now respect what Saban has done and how he keeps on going.

Mario Cristobal: On the Verge of Superstardom?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
When I say that I think Cristobal "is on the verge" I look at two time defending conference champion, a Rose Bowl win, upgrades in replacing coaches, building a positive culture, the best recruiting ever seen at Oregon. The only Pac-12 teams to recruit better were Carroll's USC teams. Now, if he would just get out of the offense's way. -
Justin Herbert had no idea he was going to play, much less start, his first NFL game, against the Super Bowl champion, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Chargers almost won. The rest of the season, except knowing that he was going to play, went the same. The Chargers ended up 7-9. They have a new coach, and next season a lot of NFL people are looking for the Chargers and Justin to have a great 2021 season. from NBC Sports Northwest

Mario Cristobal: On the Verge of Superstardom?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"On the verge of superstardom" Yes, I believe he is on the verge. The two coaches above him on the list have had more success, though Riley hasn't done anything with the Sooners appearances in the Playoffs, and Day landed at Ohio State, which really is close to "Coach-proof", unless they hired Clay Helton. -
Of Course The Chargers Should Stay With Herbert
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Excellent point, and to be fair to the Chargers, this story IS NOT a response to any move, or even a suggestion of the Chargers, showing any inclination, to trading Justin for Watson, or any other QB for that matter. -
Womens Basketball: Upcoming "Deadly-Combo?"
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Sabrina and Ruthy were a deadly combo that no team really had an answer for, and throw in Satou and you get, well we know what you got. The potential of Sedona and Nyara, and all the talent around them, is another wave that could leave the Pac-12 in its wake.
