Lanning/Crepea Repartee During Dan's Presser Last Night
Into the final seconds of the game I was sitting on the number - Ducks 31 Wolverines 17 with 385 py in the Fishduck.com predictions. I was confident at the 2 yard line that the Ducks would run out the clock. Wrong! But I am always happy when OBD score. So the call and TD made me happy even though they blew my prediction.

A Happy Valley Whiteout
Charles several months ago began to gauge interest by OBD Forum Ducks buddies in making a 2025 trip to State College, PA for the whiteout matchup between the Nittany Lions and Ducks. This morning’s ESPN Game Day program is in State College. You may enjoy tuning in to see the layout, stadium, scenery and the setting of a whiteout game in Happy Valley. Possibly we will meet there next season?

The Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense is WORKING?
“Don’t break defense” for sure. I’m not as convinced about the “bend”. The defense unit is playing remarkable football and has not yet peaked. If an outstanding defense wins championships as many say, then these Ducks are ready for their championship run. Go Ducks!

Getting Better Every Week
Focus ahead on the next opponent, not back. Every player and the team getting better every week. The Mantra of Coach Lanning and the coaching staff is ongoing improvement. The players are locked in and accomplishing those goals. The team cleans up mistakes from week to week. The better, bigger, stronger and faster players continue to gel as a team and play more complementary football each week. The Ducks defense is remarkable. The defensive line are brutes who dominate and manhandle most everyone most every time. This team’s defensive backs play the best pass defense in Ducks years. They close fast on runs and tackle efficiently. The players stay in their lanes and gang tackling has increased. The superb reliable play of the D-line and defensive backfield allow the linebackers to play free. As the weeks pass this Ducks team is getting deeper. Newer players are taking the field and contributing high level results. Injured players returning should add even more depth next week at Michigan. Fans, we are witnessing remarkable football that’s getting better by the week. SHOUT!

Oregon's SURPRISE B1G Tour Continues...
I didn’t care for Nessler’s performance. He appeared unprepared, said some silly stuff, and misjudged some of the action. No problem because he’s in the rearview mirror. No harm no foul.

Quack Attack: Top-Ranked Ducks Pound No. 20 Illinois to Stay Perfect
The wolverines this year are suffering, much like some Oregon deer, with “Chronic Wasting Disease”. Go Ducks. Show no mercy in Ann Arbor.

Oregon’s Secret That Nobody Talks About…
Yup, Charles. It will be a long season with much more to be seen from this flock of Ducks. There will be new wrinkles on both sides of the ball. I think we will see impactful contributions from players who have had few opportunities thus far through the first seven games. Fly Ducks fly.

Oregon Ducks Football: Gabriel’s Biggest Strength

Duck Dynasty Begins: Lanning Gets Signature Win Over Ohio State
The game was highlighted by “never give up” resilience by the Ducks, and the Buckeyes too. That OBD friends was a remarkable hard fought football game. The skill playmakers on both sides of the ball are uber talented. The men in the trenches are as good or better than any in the country. The players gave their all. Dillon Gabriel earned a game ball not only for his yards passing, TD run and scrambling escapes, but for his athleticism and athletic finesse fielding errant snaps and still making plays. Any of those bad snaps could have ended in disaster and even changed the win into a loss. A bad snap changes the timing of the play. It reverses the advantage a Quarterback has in knowing what comes next and puts him on his heels. It takes his eyes off the defense and downfield and requires him to adjust. Gabriel overcame the bad snaps and remarkably delivered plus yards on most of them. Dillon Gabriel is calm within the storm. His performance against the Buckeyes raised his stature as a Duck.

Oregon Bye Week, USC Lays Egg at Big House, Wazzu Survives Shootout
Good writing, Jordan. As for Larry Scott, he worked for the presidents. As much as he bungled his duties, the members of the council of presidents are most to blame for the demise of the Pac12. They held responsibility over Scott for the business of the conference. They failed miserably. That ship has sailed.

Do You Agree? What IS the Upside to This Offense?
You are right, Charles. Other possible upsides for improvements are: Center play and recognition; More touches for Limar; More pressure from the DL group; Greater consistency from ILB. It looks like an everything is gelling. I am amazed at the balls Gabriel throws and how tight the spiral is and the touch. The ball is very catchable in most cases throw to the receiver’s advantage. Sweet indeed!

Gabriel Game-Plan: Ignore the Longer Passes?
Good takes, Charles. During the game and in replay I noted the tendencies and plays you highlighted. Sheesh! Additionally, there appeared to be telegraphing by Gabriel. He was locked in early on a receiver or zone, and to his detriment all the while missing breaking open receivers and allowing defenders to close in on the target. I am confident that Gabriel will see the same things and adjust accordingly, but the mentioned plays were hard for me to understand given Gabriel’s experience and track record. Your analysis was spot-on.

Pencil me into the game fans flock for (2) as we waddle ahead toward game day. BTW, I returned last night, near the end of the Ducks Super Regional Playoff game, to South Carolina following 5 glorious days in the Willamette Valley and up the North Fork of the Siuslaw River and central coast. while there, I attended my great-nephew and great-niece’s (twins) graduations from Siuslaw High in Florence. He will attend Linfield University and play line there. His twin will become a legacy Beaver with a Presidential scholarship. 87 great kids graduated. There is hope! Thanks.
