  1. The Ducks probably have not peaked yet. They did not play their best against Cal. I'm hoping for some great games ahead. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. The team is very young and they must face the late season demands of November and December football. I am hoping that Nix's veteran leadership paired with DJ, Forsythe, and the O-Line will be enough to pull the younger guys along. I wonder about the effects of "the grind" on the young coaching staff?
  2. "Cold clock 'em" I say. The Dilly-Tosh double team works for me.
  3. I do not expect to hear anyone call the Ducks offense “boring” or “too predictable” anytime soon. Gutsy calls may emanate from BB, or convicted confidence in the OL and ball security by the ball handlers.
  4. Dilly was given an opportunity and mission when he joined Coach Lanning. I imagine he feels a responsibility and obligation to stay with Lanning and UO longer. The coaching staff agreed to chase a national championship at Oregon. That is not a one year task. As a professional he is likely to continue the task for several more years then evaluate his options. Coach Dillingham has two top (4☆/5☆) QB's in the locker room under his tutalege with a 5☆, possibly #1 nationally), on the way to Oregon. He will want to develop those players and coach them. Oregon football has possibly the best tools, facilities, and support resources in the country. That includes the NIL program, sports performance training, off field anslysts, etc. Kenny Dilligham will be courted and offered other positions. I will be very surprised if he leaves or strongly considers alternatives through the next two or more seasons. Similarly, it will surprise me if Oregon does not sweeten the compensation package for Coach Dillingham. Respect, professional development, relationships, communication, collaboration, compensation, and lifestyle are all related to job satisfaction. Those aspects bolster retention if managed well. Go Ducks.
  5. I like the photo of Lanning and Klemm together. I do not recall seeing it before. Thanks.
  6. The Ducks are averaging 42 points and more than 512 yards per game. Across six games the team has rushed for 241 YPG and passed for 271 YPG. The offense has been impressive and is trending better. Kenny Dillingham has been credited with revamping the scheme and driving excellence. There is enough of a track record after six games to spread credit further. Adrian Klemm, Associate Head Coach/Offensive Line/Run Game Coordinator has the Ducks ranked 10th in the FBS in Rushing. The offensive line has given up only a single sack in 233 rushing attempts. Give a shout out to Coach Klemm. Two other names do not often surface. Junior Adams, Co-Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers, and Demetrice Martin, Cornerbacks/Passing Game Coordinator. Whereas I do not know in detail how the staff interacts and coordinates, by title and responsibility it appears that Dillingham, Klemm, Adams, and Martin are deserving of credit for the flourishing offense and its productivity compared with recent years. If these coaches can accomplish so much, after being hired late and hitting the ground running, then it is tantalizing to think of what the offense can do in year two with sufficient time to reflect, adjust, and teach. Congratulations and thanks to our new coaches. As a fan I appreciate them.
  7. Some of these HC's are in their first year with the program, but they are experienced head coaches. On the other hand, Dan Lanning is fresh out of the crib as a first time first year head coach. I don't dispute the subjective "B+" given, but Lanning has accomplished so much on and off the field. Give Lanning an off-season to reboot, another crack at the Transfer Portal, spring season workouts (teaching), and another recruiting cycle, then watch out! Let's first finish strong this season. Lanning and his Ducks are coming on.
  8. Bellotti era was when men were men and opponents were.. scared and then defeated. When less=more.
  9. Can the Ducks win with defense? We've seen the offense lead the way over the past five games, and while the defense has played well in spurts, it really hasn't had a complete performance. Incremental improvement is the key there if the Ducks hope to win the Pac-12, starting this week against UCLA. -- Kyle Bonagura - ESPN So what do you think?
  10. NIL is not the causal factor. Multiple issues come into play including the Supreme Court decision that spawned NIL. Media values and interests centered on two power conferences, and the related values and payouts coupled with the determination of the players right to be compensated caused opportunities that led to the shift. The financial aspirations of ESPN and FOX networks in cahoots with the Commisioners of the SEC and B1G, and their cronies might have been the greatest impetus. Many factors are at play to reshuffle college football and enrich the robber barons.
  11. Well done Byron.I am in the camp that reasons the SEC and B1G will remain the power conferences, so joining the B1G is the safest option to cosummate now. Rebuilding the former Pac12 into a 20-24 team Western Conference by adding teams with the highest media ratings, including the strongest candidates from SoCal and Texas, along with robbing the Big12 and Mountain West, is an option that is good, but would be too long in the making.
  12. I am most surprised this season by the great insights, analyses investigations, and comparison articles posted by DazeNconfused on FishDuck.com and the Our Beloved Ducks Forum. DazeNconfused blew up from nowhere and continues to provide readers of the sites with entertaining and informative pieces while challenging our perspectives. Go Ducks! Go DazeNconfused.
  13. There is underlying turmoil in college football. Networks are wielding more power than ever before over the CFB universe. The NCAA has faded into yesterday. The SEC and B1G wield more power than ever before. A Premier League, not by that name, is looming. Those left outside of the Top-50 will be spread among the lower divisions, while the top dogs pad their Treasuries with more riches than before. A new administration and regulator, along with new rules, will emerge. That is how the future is shaping up. In the present, are the early firings of coaches related to the coming changes to college football? Are the AD's, Presidents, Trustees, and donors trying to right their ships before the pending storms? Or, is the turnover of coaches we are witnessing simply part of the "just win, baby" mantra of CFB?
  14. And, it will get better, possibly this year, but the next two years. These Ducks are very young, and KD's system still new to them.
  15. Kentucky missed two FGs, muffed a FG snap, got. a TD called back for not being set before the snap, and still only lost by 3 to Ole Miss in a battle of undefeated teams. Talk about heartbreak.
  16. I'm curious about how you feel about the floor at The MATT? Reply?
  17. Times like this are when a "Free Trial" on SlingTV or FuboTv comes in handy.
  18. "and we'll have fun, fun, fun until Daddy takes the" Cardinal away. Go Ducks! Thanks Alan.
  19. An unnamed (to protect the innocent's?) friend's opinion: "Sure looks as if something is going to happen with further B1G expansion. Except for saying that UCLA will lose money by joining the B1G we have heard nothing from Kliavkoff. I expect Uncle Phil is using all of his resources to push his friends in the B1G to take in the Ducks. If this isn't a lot of hot air it would help with getting PO expansion on before 2026 with the Rose Bowl becoming less of an influence without the B1G/Pac-12 matchup. I think Amazon may well be the key here? Allows the B1G to add 4 more teams without ipso facto hurting FOX' broadcast numbers. And Amazon would bring in enough new $ to persuade the B1G powers-that-be to expand to 20 teams and perhaps, beyond 20 teams? If this happens, how will the SEC/ESPN respond? The ACC has a bad media deal through 2036 but the deal is with ESPN; ESPN mau well want to see some consolidation of the ACC/SEC. Clemson, FSU, UNC, NC ST to the SEC makes perfect sense. Not sure Miami moves the needle all that much and Florida might be willing to see FSU come on board but not Miami." He might be onto something.
  20. As I sit here in South Carolina hoping that hurricane Ian passes gently by, I feel excitement to be hunkered down with a Friday night UCLA versus Washington football game to watch. Two 4-0 teams with one about to take its first loss. DeBoer and Kelly scheming and calling the shots in a west coast shootout. Penix is on fire. The latest line I saw was Washington by 3. Which team are you expecting to win? What aspect of play, beyond the final score, will determine the winning team? Do you have predictions for the final score and winning team? The over and under? Things in the game to look for? I only regret that the kickoff is 10:30 PM ET, so the game will end around 2:00 AM. That will make sitting through the Ducks 11:00 PM kickoff tomorrow night even harder for this old Duck.
  21. I before neglected to congratulate you for the great article, and applaud Charles for his encouragement, assists. and historical supplements to your story writing. Well done Duck Brothers.
  22. Love it! We could be left out of the future by trying to protect the Pac12/11/10 of the past. Holding on would most likely (2026) become a lost battle. CFB will experience gyrations during the major transition period. The next conference alignment may not be the last, but as the super conferences emerge, having the Ducks rest from flight in the B1G is a safe refuge for protecting competition, academic and athletic prestige, brand. and revenue.
  23. You may be right Van, and I really appreciate the talent evaluations by this staff. They make assessments, put a plan in place and then tweak and adjust it while continually improving players and the results. This staff acts quickly to solve issues by taking responsibility and implementing changes, not casting blame. or waiting hoping things will change. The Ducks are improving: - personnel - skills - implementation - schemes - in-game coaching Look out. Here come the new and improved Oregon Ducks.
  24. Sabrina Ionescu hits massive buzzer-beater vs. Canada Sabrina Ionescu hits massive buzzer-beater vs. Canada - ESPN Video ES.PN Sabrina Ionescu buries the buzzer-beater from just inside half court to extend the USA's lead at the end of the third quarter.
  25. Stanford has been a tough out for Oregon for two decades. Sometimes Stanford was not an out at all while winning games. Many of us remember upsets and Stanford's comebacks stealing near victory from the Ducks. Will Saturday's game be the game where the Ducks dominate Stanford? Playing at Autzen after dispatching the Cougars in a hard fought comeback in Pullman, I have a sense that the Ducks will come out on fire against the Cardinal. Oregon will win by 17+ points putting on shows on both sides of the ball. I'm looking for a team effort and some big plays.
