  1. They will be insufferable, but the Ducks can cut that short by winning a title. Oregon has the power, need to Just Do It. UW success should be a motivating factor.
  2. I totally agree, BUT, these guys tend to have larger than average egos and want to prove that they can be the exception. So, ya never know. Plus, there is the burnout factor in college, way more work due to recruiting and kissing up to donors, etc. etc...
  3. Recruiting is absolutely the number one priority. You can sit in rich recruiting country and still under recruit. Washington is currently in the 40s in recruiting. Like UCLA, they should never fall out of the Top 20. Georgia wouldn't want him. Think of what UW would be if they did recruit better. That would be scary.
  4. Nothing would prevent him from going to Georgia or Alabama if he wants to go. The point is that if you are already coaching in one of the Power-2 conferences, that can't be used to persuade you if another Power-2 program tries to poach you away.
  5. I think he does stay. But, wouldn't be shocked if he went to Georgia. It's possible he said things never thinking the job would come open, given Kirby's relative young age.
  6. It's a definite possibility. I think Georgia and Alabama are the only two schools to worry about. But, not everyone wants to follow a legend, and he seems to really like Eugene and his family. We just don't know what he prioritizes.
  7. Yeah, he's got it pretty good where he's at. But, some people like a new challenge.
  8. Thanks John. I don't think any Pac-12 championship game loser has won its bowl game ever! I know it would destroy the Rose Bowl Stadium, but I believe UCLA would be better off playing at SoFi Stadium. Closer to campus and would create a westside LA synergy around the program.
  9. Well, I mean, maybe i was a little cavalier in describing my feelings about the game, I'm going to watch it and all, but the anticlimactic nature of it just stings me. I would be much happier if it were SMU. Yeah, not sold on Sark, prove me wrong!
  10. Which has a good chance. I'm still not totally sold on Texas and once again Michigan will lose the semifinal. Of course, the Huskies could totally lay and egg on the big stage, now that would be the most Pac-12 thing for the conference to end on.
  11. Oh for sure, Deboar is the real deal, but I believe there will be seasons where the lack of recruiting will be evident and they will not be a top-tier conference team, while other years they will be top-shelf. I also like him, he seems so laid back and sincere without all the feigned energy and coach speak. While I would have preferred the full/real P12 to stay together, but as things unfolded the Ducks really did need to join the Big10 in order to remain a top-tier program on a national level. Otherwise, recruiting would have taken a hit, for sure.
  12. My fear comes true. If it was Tulane or Smu or a good MW champ it would suck, but not this bad! Any Duck with NFL potential won't play. Get Thompson and backups reps and start the spring football early this year.
  13. Alright!!! We're bringing in some Tigers! Thanks for chiming in. Sure, QBs are free to run, I was stating a matter of preference. In 2017, Willie Taggart brought in his Gulf Coast offense from South Florida ((where he had had a bowling ball of a quarterback (mediocre at best passer) who put up all kinds of impressive running numbers)) and ran Justin Herbert (a great passer as we all know) way too much until Herbert was knocked out for the season around game 6 and the Ducks, without a solid backup, were done for the season. And, we had what happened to Nix late last year on a run. I prefer a great passing quarterback complimented with a great running game, and who like Nix, can use his feet occasionally to keep the D honest. Of course, not all teams have good passing QBs but guys who can run, so by all means, do what gives you the best chance to win. But, with a guy like Nix who is a good passer, don't rely on using his feet so much that he gets hurt (again, like last year). Gotta weigh the pros and cons, is running him worth the injury risk? LSU has been fortunate Daniels has stayed healthy.
  14. Yeah, some college qb's are built like running backs and can pull it off. Usually, the type that will not make it in the NFL. It's a college thing and they are a great college player, like Tebow. But, the Herbert's and Nix's of the world should run very seldomly.
  15. Yeah, running qb's, to me with rare excepton, are a sign of a team with holes in it. Yup, Riles is exposed, he'd probably be better off in the NFL, really.
  16. Nice points. I think Nix has a great chance to be a good pro player. Has the intangibles, smart, can use his legs when needed. We'll see.....
  17. Yeah, he's made his money, started out at the smaller schools back in the day, this could be his "going home" time in his career.
  18. Will Ucla hire Stein? They need the next new thing and to stop with the good ole BS of "getting an established head coach." That line if thinking gets Oregon Wilcox. Will Ucla have the gumption to make a smart move? Gotta at least kick the tires.
  19. I more afraid of USC than OSU. Trojans have a puncher's chance. I think the Ducks control OSU for a solid home win.
  20. I had that same thought, no puking in mouth, just muttered, "fricken Mario."
  21. I laid out all the possibilities. Except for going 0-3. OH CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. "Demoralized." I like it. Let's be the team that makes Williams retire from college football.
