  1. Yup, I think we want USC in P12 championship game and send them to the B10 in style!. Traitors.
  2. Yes, must protect the quarterback. I don't get why that is such a difficult concept at times. Even if it does cost us getting the occasional first down, it is better to play it safe with the health of the qb. Should only purposely put the qb at risk in DIRE situations, like with the game on the line... Or, needing to cover a spread I may have put a few bucks on. .
  3. Wait a second, I might be wrong, but weren't you against them playing Georgia last year? And then on top of that critical of them also playing BYU in the same season? . I really do not see what the big deal is. I have no problem with the out of conference scheduling. Let's be realistic, you can't get the likes of Oklahoma and Ohio State every year. Those teams do have to agree to play the Ducks and it's not always easy to find openings. These things get scheduled years in advance, so before all the summer of 2021 chaos. Scheduling middling to solid Big 12 programs in not taking the easy road out. Not to mention in three of these years they also play Boise State on top of the schools mentioned above. If Mullens schedules the "tough" games then he gets grilled for making the path to the playoff harder, if he doesn't then he gets called a wimp. He's "Damned if you do, damned if you don't." Hopefully, Michigan State in 2029 and 2030 is good enough for those being critical of Mullens. And, then, alas the Buckeyes in 2032 and 2033.
  4. Hmmmm... I've been wrong about a lot of things regarding conference alignment. But, I say wait. It is almost a lock that the Big 10 will invite these two schools leading up to 2030. Perhaps over the next few years, UCLA realizes they made a mistake and come back. But, the only chance of that is if OR and UW are still in the Pac. But, then again, what the hell, got to the Big 10. : )
  5. Well, last week, Altman said he wants guys who are dedicated and hard-working. Clearly, this past year's team did not have enough of those guys, if any. And, based on Altman's comments about Ware in mid-season, about his lack of effort and focus, he might have been the poster child for this. It's possible Altman had a talk with Ware in which they both agreed he should move on. This sucks on the surface, but it could be the best thing.
  6. Then settle it with the men's team on the court!!! Oops
  7. Ok, forget I mentioned Kentucky and instead wrote" (Though a bit humbling when you see that Duke has a whopping 5 of the Top 20. Yikes" ) ; )
  8. I get where you are coming from. I'll first say that Richardson is a very good player and has been a great asset to the Ducks. But, Richardson has by default been the "goto guy" for the Ducks the past two seasons. The problem is, he's just not that guy. He's a great compliment to a "goto guy." So, as the "goto guy" he wasn't very good. If he were coming back next season he'd play along with Shelstad very nicely. Hopefully, he can find a niche overseas and make some money for himself.
  9. It'll be exciting to see as the Ducks should be a better team next year.
  10. A Portland area rep where crime is sky high this is who she goes after? Hmmmm.... I've seen in hoops where the home team gets a technical foul. In my observation punishing the team on the court gets fans back in line quickly. I'm sure they could think of something like this for football.
  11. Having been a high school bench warmer, I can relate to guys who have not seen the floor much. Yup, you come in all wired with your mind racing. But, if they enter next season as part of the rotation and get some solid minutes, that should fade away.
  12. It's true, if approved, the Ducks will never join the Big-Ten. Guaranteed the Oregon legislature would only approve of the move if OSU goes as well, and if the that's the case then the Big-Ten won't take the Ducks. They don't want the dead-weight Beavers watering down the slice of the pie.
  13. It would be something that after Larry Scott is gone that his dream of the San Franciso-Silicon Valley-Pac 12 synergy would come into effect. Oops.
  14. I do miss the DVR from my days with cable because you actually have real hard drive versus the cloud version (I have Sling TV) that is not nearly as nimble (IMHO). But, now i'm used to it now and we'll all get used to the various switching of apps.... eventually ; )
  15. Thanks. I use Sling and can cancel at anytime, unlike contracts with cable and dish companies (assuming they still do the contract thing, it's been a while for me). And for most Oregon fans it is not a big deal to get Apple TV for four months a year. The danger is in the non-Oregon fans who are flipping around between games (like i do when the ducks are not on), it is so much easier on cable (whether linear or streaming) than switching between apps. So, as of now, the streaming services will cause the teams playing to lose out on many of the "channel flippers." I'm sure this will change at some point to make app switching easier, but not there yet.
  16. True, Sports Illustrated didn't release the swimsuit issue in February after the Super Bowl for nothing. I don't even know if they still have that....
  17. I was just kind of having fun with the "fuddy-duddy" remarks. I might have gotten a little carried away : ) ...I remember my father retiring earlier than he wanted to 20-some years ago because he was computer illiterate and it was too overwhelming for him. I think worse than setting it up is the switching between tv broadcasts and the various streaming apps out there, it gets clumsy where people of all ages will become (or have already) curmudgeon over it. I imagine there will be a solution to this at some point, just not yet. And yes, streaming is the future, just not quite to the point where it takes over standard tv as of yet, but it will be at the end of this decade when all the conferences will be working on new agreements. So, one possible positive, is that if the Pac-12 (if still around) already has good relationship with a streaming service then it may serve them well in the future when all conferences are streaming. We'll see.... And I do believe the Pac-12 Network is an add-on for most distrubutors. I know it is with my Sling subscription, so certainly that lowers the number of total households.
  18. And, the conference presidents should be a little wiser this time around.
  19. As the Stanford of the B1G I think NorthWestern gets a pass with its academic prowess, but that argument could maybe be made against some other schools. Then again, all those schools either have a national brand or are attached to large markets. And, you've gotta have some somewhat easy wins in confernce play. You gotta have at least a few Washington Generals in your conference to feed as red meat to the Ohio State's of the world.
  20. I agree, Jon. But he could be negotiating different scenarios with the media companies. How much can we get if we stay put? How much if we add teams A and B? How much if we add teams A, B, C, and D? I for one would want to know what I can get before expanding.
  21. Thanks. For all we know, George expands by 4 teams and brings in Houston and Unlv on top of Smu and SD St. He could have had a sneaky meeting with Houston when he was in Texas to visit SMU. The SMU visit was the red herring. Of course, now I'm sounding as crazy as all the negative theories out there but in a positive way. Could it be a home run? Could it all fall apart? Bottom line: We'll know when we know.
