  1. I wanted to pin this thread begun by HDuck, (thank you) because it really relates not only us all, but for me--it has been a gut-punch. The creator of the local Oregon sports magazine, "Fighting Ducks Illustrated" and Oregon football equipment manager back in the 70s...and movie-maker Jerry Thompson died of cancer a few weeks ago. Jerry and I worked together over the last 13 years promoting each others endeavors, and he has been a good friend to me. He loved Oregon Baseball as much as I, and we had great bitching, or great hooting sessions over the phone about the recent Duck Diamond exploits. He also wrote articles for FishDuck.com, and featured my analysis articles often in his magazine. He cared so much about Our Beloved Ducks, and for everyone in his sphere and truly was "one-of-the-good-guys." He was loved, and will be remembered. He made an impact...
  2. Some of us have lusted for this play for a long time, especially with the way Stanford used to abuse us with that play. Kyler Kasper is 6'6" and perfect for a high throw in the end zone, and this time he got former Duck, Jaylin Davies, fourth interference penalty in four games. I like that as an option, even when they know it is coming. Throw it high, catch it at the high point and the typical corner cannot stop it.
  3. Oh yeah. But in my case it is assumed, as I wait for the FishDuck writer to send in the article, check things, and then wait for the photographer to get me pictures. Then sort the pictures and load into my storage platform, and add the pictures to the writer's article. (Which takes longer than you would think) Then figure out the prediction contest, write a post or two, and yep...it is 1:40 AM. Too late for this old fart, but I've been doing this routine for 13 years with the two websites... I am back on my low-inflammation diet of which is helping my arthritic back, and no beer is allowed. (The only part of the diet that is a killer to me personally) To ALL: Let's all not judge others in posts for their opinions, it is OK to be disappointed or delighted with the result. We just trade opinions here...
  4. I did not think of that, and it makes good sense. Plausible, makes sense, but still a surprise. When the sportscasters were prepped and ready to talk about Moore, then they must have been given the impression that Moore was No. 2? Interesting stuff.
  5. Terrance might have a concussion, and not even a review of targeting? Gabriel in his face...
  6. Is something brewing? Late in the game when Oregon was sitting Dillon Gabriel and the sportscasters were introducing Dante Moore, and talking up how the coaches loved what they saw of him in camp, etc...but look who came out to run the offense as the No. 2 quarterback? Austin Novosad! The 6'3" redshirt freshman really impressed me in the Bowl game, and the Spring Game, and I felt he would give Moore a run for the No. 2 slot. What do you make of this? Is it legit? Or were the coaches trying to avoid blowback with playing Moore at UCLA? Do you think it was a wake-up call to Moore that he is not anointed, but must improve and work for it? Or is Novosad better? This could have tons of implications going forward in so many directions. Or is it a head-fake?
  7. First let's look at the results: Oregon won 34-13 with two turnovers, four sacks and 278 yards passing. The Winner: 1Ducker1 as he had 36-14 prediction for only a total of three points off. Wow! DanLduck was close with a 38-13 prediction, and only four points off, while most of us were a lot farther away. I believe 1Ducker1 has won before, and he was tuned into the spirit of the day. Congrats to him, and thanks to all for submitting an entry, and having some fun with it!
  8. Alex, it was great to have your feedback from the Rose Bowl pressbox! I think most Oregon fans are still wrestling with how we feel about it. We are always grateful for a win, but...
  9. It was to me. We have a ways to go yet, and we only have two weeks to do it! I did really like the uniforms, though!
  10. I am going to start a new discussion thread on the front page where we can do more post-game thoughts.
  11. Gabried threw to where he thought Tez Johnson would be, but Tez slipped and fell down, thus the pass seemed to go directly to Addison. He remains pretty accurate!
  12. Very cool, as Alex is our FishDuck.com correspondent at the UCLA game in the Press Box! This does not happen very often anymore, so it’s great to get impressions from Alex while he is there.
  13. I'll leave this open until 8:00 PM for all entrants!
  14. Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us! Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game! A Decade Ago...
  15. And the Memphis Athletic Director flat-out said the Scrap-12 offer was not better than what they had in the AAC? Somebody!
  16. We do NOT discuss the Oregon game here, as we will have a separate GameDay thread for our game, but all the others out there in CFB in this thread. (I will delete posts about the Oregon game, as we need to keep the discussions separate) Do provide score updates when you can, as well as your thoughts of what you saw.
  17. So true, and the pictures from that game with the yellow background will be awesome! Look at that! It will be a similar uniform to that epic 2014 game!
  18. Unbelievable. A game Washington should have won, almost easily. Three missed field goals, (when they lost by only three) a dumb celebration penalty after they blocked a Rutgers FG, then the Knights score a TD on the next play? Then TONS of dumb penalties that killed their drives. Of course they won't play that way when they come to Eugene...
  19. Boy the scores are all clustered around each other....I can see it will probably be tie-breaker time later!
  20. THAT is one great title for a thread...LOVE IT!
  21. (Before you castigate me, please reread my first sentence.) dksez...you are new here, and thus expect it to be the same as other sites. People can disagree here, heck I WANT disagreement, I want to see all views on a topic, and thus I learn from others and we all become better fans as a result. But nobody can go after anyone on a personal basis. Disagree with your opinion? Sure, but everyone has to be "polite and respectful" to fellow OBD members. How do you safely post here? Just what you did...give your opinion, your facts, your rationale with the topic and that is it. Nothing about anyone else or taking shots personally, and you were perfect. We have a ton of women on this forum because it is the only safe place for them to express their views about Our Beloved Ducks anywhere. They know we have 14 moderators who hide offending posts immediately, and the violator will hear from yours-truly. I have pages of people banned over the last three years because they could not control themselves. Bye. We manage it for safety and civility; it is the only GREEN REFUGE out there, the forum-with-decorum, and it does not fit for the majority of fans. But for this community--it is perfect. Welcome, and do keep posting!
  22. Damn. The King-of-the-One-Liners comes through again! Thanks for the hearty laugh...
  23. We do not play Rutgers, and we do the Bastard-Huskies, thus Washington winning could help Oregon's ranking at the end of the season. But Washington losing is never a bad thing either.... For Oregon Fans, it is Good-or-Good! Who do you want to win and why?
  24. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus UCLA? Take your shot, and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 52-17 3 4 282 We did well in Los Angeles last time... I LOVE this picture from FishDuck.com Photographer Tom Corno... ...such vivid background color, and a cool sack coming!
