  1. This is the second post of a series about when Alabama was looking at Oregon's Dan Lanning, and then hiring DeBoer from Washington. The first one dealt with Husky fans enjoying how Oregon would lose Lanning, and this one is from a Husky site right after Coach Dan Lanning posted the announcement video of how "The Grass is Greener at Oregon." DeBoer to Alabama had not happened yet, so the feelings from Washington fans at that moment was one of tortured waiting, and below are their comments about the video and Lanning. Look, you know I'm a sicko for this stuff...but it is the off-season, it is great entertainment, and seeing Huskies-in-horror is fun. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Join me at Oregon! "Lanning can’t possibly have better judgment than DeBoer, right? Certainly would be the first time that’s happened…" "Kudos to Lanning, man of his word." "Credit to Oregon ... they took advantage of this chaos and turned it into a strong message from Lanning." "Lanning has come out with strong statements multiple times during his tenure at Oregon. Wish DeBoer would do that." "The reality is that for the past 18 hours or so, nearly every site had Lanning as the top target. So the perception, right or wrong, is going to be that Lanning turned Alabama down. And Oregon-Lanning leaned into that masterfully with the video released a few minutes ago. Now it's UW's / DeBoer's turn to create that same perception." Huskies about to get it from DeBoer...
  2. Never thought I’d see this at Oregon!
  3. Yep, that is a paid article that I purposely did not have posted here. It is one method of paying the bills at both sites, the allowance of an occasional submitted article like that one, or a sentence in an article where both examples contain a link to a gambling site. Companies do this for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes; by being linked on FishDuck, it helps their Google ranking, and thus they are more likely to be found on the web. So they pay me a fee to have these articles, and while I wish I did not have to deal with it--you gotta pay the bills. I am glad you liked it! Some of the locations that I've done business with around the world... Tallinn, Estonia Hong Kong Port Louis, Mauritius (A small island off the East African Coast) Red Hill, Australia And of course London and a ton of other locations around the world. I get these contact emails in the middle of the night (the next day for them) and answer them in the morning each day. I am learning my geography!
  4. For a season ticket holder...the prices are high, but reasonable. (I am a 38 year season ticket holder) But you referring to the resale market, and for big games--sure, they are going to be high. The Ohio State game might be THE biggest game at Autzen in decades, if not ever. Thus, it makes sense the prices get bid up in a crazy manner. I don't agree at all. The GAME is still the same, but the factors, the changes we do not like are not on the football field. None of us like the changes, so your opinion is not unusual, but the football on the field is the same. Yet....I could certainly make an argument that the game is better. Why? Because due to NIL...players like Terrance Ferguson, and Ajani Cornelius would have gone onto the NFL, and instead are staying. They make the team better, and thus the entertainment on the field is better. The overall college game is improved by experienced players staying for a final year. A team's ticket prices being bid so high in the aftermarket means that the team is going to do very well, and be incredibly entertaining. And that....sounds like Our Beloved Ducks!
  5. They have already explained that they can only do one major project at a time. Right now, they are working on the new indoor practice facility, and with the restructuring of the streets and area--it has taken longer than originally planned. Stadium expansion probably won't happen for four years, as they haven't even broke ground yet on this current project.
  6. I think you nailed my sentiments as well. This team is incredibly talented, and HUNGRY, which bodes well. Duke Transfer Brandon Johnson, (intercepting below) is an example of a lightly known (All-ACC last two years) transfer who is perfect for Oregon's STAR defensive back position.
  7. Meh. It is simply promotion for the 247 rating system, whereas the Rivals is tougher, and consistent over the last 25 years. For comparison to the past--you cannot with 247, because their data was purchased with the buyout of Scout.com, who was owned by a Husky. When Scout.com was in existence...it was routine for a 4-Star Oregon verbal to suddenly lose a star to 3-Star, and a 3-Star who committed to the Huskies move up to 4-Star. For those who were around at that time--we were beyond getting indignant of angry because it happened so often that we would "wait for the stars to drop" when a recruit verballed to Oregon. Thus I cannot and will not ever use 247 data for historical reference. When I say that this WAS the best recruiting year ever in Oregon history in terms of the most Rivals 4/5-Star players who signed with Oregon, it has relevance, because the historical data is reliable and not corrupted by a venomous Husky at Scout.com. Once in a while I have to explain why I use Rivals...
  8. "Bo Nix has got some his favorite Oregon plays into the Bronco playbook!"
  9. Andy Staples interviews Will Stein for a half-hour at the beginning...good stuff!
  10. Set the scene....it is January 10th, and Nick Saban announced his retirement and it was reported that Dan Lanning was one of the top candidates. Below are comments from fan forums... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the Huskies: "If Bama calls, Lanning is gone in 60 seconds." "Lanning would leave a vapor trail out of ewegene." "Lanning is as good as gone to Bama......" "I think there are plenty of jobs Lanning would leave UO for. Eugene is a sad town to live in." "UO players have 30 days to transfer after Lanning takes Bama Job, thus Sounds like Lanning is a done deal to Alabama and expect a mass exodus of players. Time to roll out the red carpet..." "I’d expect Oregon to go after Jedd Fisch, but I’d much rather have Lanning there." "You're never going to be a legend at Oregon and nobody will ever give you the credit for your ego because Uncle Phil is buying it for you, so and shoot your shot and try to go and build a dynasty at Bama." From SC Fans: "Full disclosure, I think Lanning is overrated. So I’m good whatever happens." "Oregon getting B slapped again." "Every time a major job opens up, the mighty and oh so confident Duckies realize they are a stepping stone program." "Dan Lanning has only shown that he can mismanage games at Oregon." "If Lanning does head to Bama, does Oregon start to collapse like a house of cards?" "Best part about Lanning to Bama … Oregon takes another stepping-stone-university L." "In two years, Lanning hasn’t done anything that would make a player require assurances he’d be there. It’s the bag and Nike that are the draw." "Overhyped coach, hasn't won a big game yet. Makes clown decisions continuously that cost his team. Hides behind being aggressive as an excuse for bad coaching decisions." "Hopefully he stays...I am probably in the minority but I am not sold on him as an elite coach and the zeros might do better than him." Makes you want to beat them that much more...
  11. Thank you for looking at the schedule and pointing out the wisdom of those creating the schedule from a travel standpoint. Just one more trip for that much more exposure and revenue? And yes, I think Oregon Volleyball will get more exposure in the B1G playing in a very tough volleyball conference, than on the Pac-12 Network.
  12. The interest level from Oregon fans would not be surpassed... I would be busy playing "bop-a-mole" with 'Cane fans trolling here.
  13. Have you seen that a number of times, as I have? John Canzano has really promoted it in his articles several times, and while some Beavers believe it will happen....most can admit to it being more of a wish than expected reality. Some in the Pig-2 actually think that Oregon will truly get weary of all the travel by the non-revenue sports. (A valid point) We will spurn the expected 100 million share in B1G revenue in many years for the meager contract a renewed Pac-12 can bring? Not to mention being invisible again to most of the nation? I LOVE being part of a Super-Conference, as we will have massive eyes on us. Some inconvenience , yes, but well worth it. Beavers Believe in Our Return to the Pac-12; is This Plausible?
  14. Look, he states some tall goals, but it sure appears he is willing to WORK for those lofty goals. I love this young man already! Quotes from a Max Torres On3 Interview: “You see where Dan Lanning has this going. Why not be a part of a team that’s gonna compete for a title? He took the SEC formula and brought it over to the Big Ten, to the West Coast and (he’s) really just taking over and building. He’s gonna be the next great head coach in college football history and why would you not want to be a part of that?” “You’re getting the hardest worker in the country. I’m gonna do whatever it takes to reach my goals and separate myself across the country and then three years from now you’ll be getting a first round draft pick and I’m gonna do whatever it takes to reach those goals." There is more, but I'd advise getting a subscription for full article and other content. And he is out recruiting for Oregon already, and I'd bet he can sell the Ducks pretty well!

  15. Absolutely. GREAT idea, as some places do have that. Our food options at the top of the stadium are not great... Someone emailed me to say that a 'pre-song' would help set the tone, but not one used by others.
  16. Yep. My mistake. But Cornelius out of the portal is better!
  17. Amen Duck-Sister, as the difference between the 3-Star and 4-Star is often who is more ready to play now. Hroniss Grasu | DuckSportsAuthority N.RIVALS.COM Hroniss Grasu - 3 Star Offensive center for Oregon on DuckSportsAuthority He was only 260 pounds coming out of high school? And yet the coaches had him up to 285 for the season, and he started as a freshman! For most--we looking patiently at the upside, as so many have developed nicely at Oregon.
  18. OL Demetri Manning announces his commitment to Oregon 247SPORTS.COM Oregon landed a commitment from Bellevue (Wash.) offensive lineman Demetri Manning on Tuesday...
  19. I'm sure the Huskies will survive this just fine...
  20. Whoops! A Washington Whoosh! Everybody loves Dan Lanning, including Demetri Manning who verbaled today.
  21. What Husky fans are writing about their recruiting on a Washington forum....OUCH! " I feel like we aren’t benefiting much from a national title run on the recruiting front. Not trying to be negative but man I want to see some four stars commit." "Probably more nervous now than I was last week. It’s tough coming out of this weekend and seeing recruits we are targeting starting to trend in other directions….. and frick as I type this Dixson committed to PSU. Yeah, I’m starting to worry about how this class will look particularly with the June 21 visitor list becoming very hazy." "I brought this up before, but not seeing any of the 14 uncommitted visitors commit two weeks ago is a red flag. We are already seeing other schools close recruits we are after right after there visit. That’s a major concern." "We have done more then Oregon in the last ten years and i just was hoping for a little buzz that is all." "In 2022 the Quacks, U$C and ND all got new coaches... their 2023 recruiting classes were 8, 9 and 12. In 2023v Auburn got a new coach, their 2024 class was top 10....Great recruiters, recruit great out of the gate..." "I just expected a few four stars by now when all our rivals have some. My point is why isn’t the school the main selling point? Why do kids desire to go to Oregon, SMU and all these other schools that I don’t think measure up to the huskies legacy? I do think the past ten years have warranted better recruiting for the football team especially when the basketball team is absolutely doing great with recruiting and they haven’t been successful in a very long time. Oregon has gone through like three coaching changes in ten years and they keep getting recruits. So I don’t want to hear the coaching change as an excuse we played for a national title and the fact we don’t have a four star committed right now is very very worrisome. In no way should a national title team have the 66th recruiting class i am sorry. Also with DeBoer we had the lowest recruiting class ever for a playoff team. I feel like i have a right to question what is going wrong with recruiting." "UW should aspire to be as good as Oregon when it comes to recruiting. And when Oregon has a coaching change they don't take a dip in recruiting or blame a change in coaching staff, they simply go out and get a top 25 class."
  22. From the Max Torres On3 interview.... “I grew up an Oregon fan, I grew up a Duck fan. I was the only Duck fan in the house. For me, it’s like a dream come true. At Oregon you can be yourself. I love the campus, I love all the support they offer. So that’s the reason why I committed to Oregon." "Everybody tries to say something negative about Oregon because they don’t have what that college has. Dan Lanning throws out facts. I love Dan Lanning, I love Coach (A’lique) Terry, I love Cav (Mike Cavanaugh). That’s what made me want to commit.”
