  1. Jon Joseph! Good gosh I cannot believe I forgot about it, and apologize to you all. Pretty close again, as both had a four-point spread; Jon's was closer and he won three of the tiebreakers. Congrats! Score Cin-Passing Yards Cin-Rushing Yards TO Sacks Suffered Actual Stats: 23-20 226 79 0 7 Jon Joseph 28-24 300 70 1 4 Chipshot 34-30 340 110 2 4
  2. Makenna Kliethermes pitched another winner with Jordan Dail closing it. Allee Bunker led the batting going 2-4 with a two-run home run and three RBIs in total. More coming with the official press release soon!
  3. Oh geez. He would have been perfect for the Dillingham offense....
  4. A pleasant surprise with the Softball team is the emergence in the outfield of Hannah Galey from Scappoose, Oregon! She is a senior who started 39 times in her freshman year, but not much in the last two years. She is leading the team in hitting at .538 and it is great to see not just recruiting from Coach Lombardi, but player development. More stats later... Hannah Galey
  5. Fun stuff! But if you want to write articles—I need them at FishDuck!
  6. Hot Start, Gritty Finish For Ducks EUGENE, Ore. — A hot start offensively and gritty finish defensively helped the Oregon women's basketball team bounce back from defeat with a 67-53 victory Wednesday over UCLA, a nonconference matchup the two teams agreed to after the Bruins forfeited a conference game scheduled to be played on Jan. 28. The Ducks (17-8) made 4-of-5 three-pointers to lead 20-9 after one quarter Wednesday, three days after going 4-of-21 from three-point range in Sunday's loss to Oregon State. UCLA put together a 24-point third quarter to cut a 20-point halftime deficit in half, but the Ducks limited the Bruins to 4-of-18 shooting in the final quarter to avoid a comeback. "A really good defensive effort, and overall a really good win — against a team that's hungry," UO coach Kelly Graves said. "They're still looking to get into the NCAA Tournament, and a win here would have helped." How It Happened: Maddie Scherr hit a three-pointer on Oregon's second possession to open the scoring, and set the tone for a prolific first quarter by the home team. Te-Hina Paopao also hit from three as the Ducks raced out to an 8-2 lead, and then Endyia Rogers hit two three-pointers to cap a 10-0 run as the Ducks built a double-digit lead after one quarter. "Sure makes a difference, doesn't it?" Graves asked rhetorically of the early makes from three-point range. "Sure makes a difference. … That three ball, when it goes in it really helps us." The Ducks kept up the pressure in the second. A baby hook from Sedona Prince and another three-pointer from Scherr made it 29-13, and a three-pointer by Paopao got the lead to 34-16. Paopao then fed Nyara Sabally for the last basket of the second quarter and Oregon led 40-20 at halftime, after outrebounding the Bruins 15-4 in the second quarter. The Bruins mustered a response in the third, when star guard Charisma Osborne scored 11 points. The rebounding advantage Oregon had in the second was flipped on its head, as UCLA had a 15-6 edge on the boards in the third, while forcing five turnovers and drawing nine fouls on the Ducks. UCLA's attempt to assert a more physical style was embodied late in the third when Sabally was the victim on an intentional foul, but the change in tone was effective in that the Bruins trailed just 54-44 entering the fourth. That's when the Ducks mustered a response of their own. They held Osborne scoreless in the period, and Sabally had four points and five rebounds in the period. After a three-pointer got UCLA back within 10 at 61-51, Rogers got to the rim for the Ducks and made sure the Bruins got no closer. "It always feels good making plays at the end," said Rogers, a transfer from USC, where the Bruins were the crosstown rival. "There wasn't any built-up juice for them. We knew they were probably gonna come out and have a point to prove, since we got the easy win for conference with the forfeit. We came out prepared and ready to go." Who Stood Out: Sabally had her fourth double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Rogers finished with 16 points plus three rebounds and four assists. Paopao was a huge key to the first-half efficiency, and she finished with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Graves said he came into the game wanting to play 12 players, and he managed to get at least three minutes for all 12 — and he didn't wait until the game was in hand to do so. Eleven players appeared in the first half, and Phillipina Kyei made it 12 when she entered in the second. Kyei ended up playing seven minutes in the fourth quarter, blocking a shot and grabbing two rebounds while scoring a basket. "Everybody who got in made a difference," Rogers said. "It just shows when people's names are called they're ready to step up." What It Means: Sunday's loss to Oregon State probably put the Ducks on the outside looking in for a top-16 NCAA Tournament seed, and thus the right to host early rounds, but Wednesday got them back on track. "We're now in a time when we want to look good and get quality wins, so we can get as high a seed as possible," Graves said. "You get one of those top four seeds (in each regional), you host, and what an advantage that is." Up Next: The Ducks open the final home weekend of the regular season by hosting California on Friday (7 p.m., Pac-12 Network).
  7. GREAT find FamilyofDucks! Thanks to you and ALL who post articles!
  8. I am grateful that you answered the question that I had, as did so many others. You gave us quite a bit in a shorter article and it will be fun to watch as you break things down for us over the next year. My THANKS!
  9. Oh good grief; the article is not rebutting the weakness of the offensive line, but impugns the Oregon front-seven defense as proof? When I consider Popo, Dorlus, Swinson and Taki on the defensive line with our experience linebacking corp? That means everything is going to be FINE for the Trojans? What a nonsense article... Where was that offensive line again?
  10. I would disagree with that; over on other sites...nobody has experienced what I have when I began to write about my objections to the Cristobal offense 3.5 years ago. They were ALL sucked into a love-fest with Mario in the beginning, as most here were. And to a degree, I was won over on quite a few points. We all were excited about Willie in the beginning too, and it was not until results became apparent with both men did the majority of people begin to change their minds. Just this last August--I linked my article about whether Mario had Snookered Mullens, and there were 97, that's right....NINETY SEVEN posts that I would have deleted on the OBD forum as the majority still drank the Kool-Aid, and hated me for bringing up valid points. So yes, people here will get taken in by talk and I have the scars from 97 nasty posts on one site and 84 on another to prove it. People were believing what he said versus what was actually on the field for three years.... Now that's a pretty good con-job there. I like everything I see about Lanning, but will continue to apply "Critical Analysis" as I did with coaches before, and will not let the hype of a coach cloud my analysis. Not many can say that among Oregon fans.
  11. Steven A....I thought it was getting toasty in my office, and that is because you have been hot with your zingers lately.
  12. Yes. I've explained this a few times here...his grades were NOT good his sophomore year, and Oregon was not having great luck recruiting QBs after Mariota, so Helfrich had to know for-certain that he would actually be able to get into Oregon later. He told Tua that the Ducks were holding off offering until we saw good evidence of grades improving. (Oregon could NOT get left with no QB in a recruiting year, and typically--the high profile QB recruits do not want to see another taken in that class) This torqued Tua off, and sure enough...he got his grades up enough and told Oregon to "stick-it." Helfrich made mistakes, but this was not one of them.
  13. This is an example of a time where I wish I had a reaction or emoji to attach to your post that says, "Ouch!" We will be adding more in the future after I get some other custom work done first on this forum.
  14. Should Franck try out later? I would "love" to see him on the tennis court....

  16. Excellent research and comparisons that dispels notions that even I carried. If you do your homework and find high upside on enough players--you can succeed, but it is hard to continue that over the years. And great point David, as I recall old Oregon coaches admitting that they did not even have social media accounts. But I loved their coaching! Great information and THANKS.
  17. At times I don't think this is a great team, and yet other times--I think there is a higher upside when I see progress with the bigs.
  18. Very cool! It will be quite interesting to see later in the season how good this team is compared to the rest of the Pac-12. These early ones are not great indicators, but give valuable experience to new starters.
  19. OK...it's in tennis, but when there is no news out there.... EUGENE, Ore. – Head coach Nils Schyllander has announced the signing of Swedish standout August Gustafson to the Oregon men’s tennis team. Gustafson will join the team in the fall. “We are thrilled to announce that August Gustafson will be joining the Ducks in the fall of 2022,” said Schyllander. “August is a national champion who already is a highly-accomplished doubles player with a huge upside in singles as well." “He is an extremely hard-working student-athlete that excels in the classroom and on the court. August will fit right into the Oregon way and our culture. Welcome to the Duck family, August.” Gustafson most recently won the Swedish doubles national championship and finished second in doubles the year prior. A top-five ranked Swedish U18/19 player in 2021, Gustafson earned a third-place finish in the singles national championships.
  20. Ok, I’ll bite. Is that legit, or are you ‘funnin-us?
  21. Don't kill the messenger! (But they are funny!) Cool...Thibs in a commercial about Los Angeles....
  22. 50/50 at best for Connerly, and a very low probability for Overton; just my guess.
  23. EUGENE, Ore. — Will Richardson hit a corner three-pointer on a baseline out-of-bounds play with 1 minute to play Monday, and the Oregon men's basketball team survived a late flurry by Washington State to beat the Cougars in Matthew Knight Arena, 62-59. Down 39-35 early in the second half, the Ducks rallied into the lead and were pulling away when Richardson hit his three-pointer for a 62-53 lead. Oregon turned it over twice and missed two free throws in the final minute, allowing WSU to close within three and get two late attempts at a game-tying three-pointer in the final seconds — both of which missed. The Ducks won despite shooting 5-of-19 from three-point range, and despite being outrebounded 49-43 — including 22 offensive rebounds that allowed the Cougars to score 21 second-chance points. "Those type of nights, we've just got to grind," UO post Franck Kepnang said. "We've got to stay together, and that's what we did. … Like coach always says, there's many, many ways to win a basketball game." The Ducks rebounded from Saturday's loss to Cal and improved to 17-8 overall and 10-4 in the Pac-12. That put them into a tie for second in the conference with USC, behind first-place Arizona and a half-game ahead of UCLA; Oregon faces all three in the next two weeks. But first, the Ducks play Thursday at Arizona State. It will be a chance for Oregon to avenge an overtime loss to ASU in Eugene on Dec. 5. "There is no big picture," UO coach Dana Altman said. "The big picture is Thursday night, and trying to win a game. … We lost a game to Arizona State here, so we should be ready to roll." How It Happened: Oregon's errant three-point shooting in the loss to California carried over into Monday's rescheduled matchup with the Cougars. The Ducks missed their first six three-point attempts, but fed off the energy off big men Kepnang and N'Faly Dante to lead 15-14 before Eric Williams Jr. finally connected from behind the arc. Five straight points from Dante got the lead to 24-16, and a three-point play from Kepnang followed by a De'Vion Harmon three-pointer capped a 12-2 run for a 30-18 lead. The Ducks took a 35-29 lead into halftime. Washington State opened the second half on a 10-0 run, which Harmon finally ended on a three-pointer. His three-point play got Oregon back within 43-41, and Jacob Young tied it by shaking a defender on a pull-up jumper before feeding Quincy Guerrier with a no-look pass for a dunk and a 45-43 lead. Two baskets by Dante got Oregon out front 49-44, and two in a row by Kepnang — with one of his four blocked shots in between — made it 57-50. Kepnang set a screen to free up Harmon for a layin and a 59-52 lead, and Richardson's three-pointer got the lead to nine before WSU's late rally. The Cougars missed a three-pointer after Richardson's three, but Guerrier missed a free throw and WSU connected from deep to get within 62-56. A turnover by Harmon in the backcourt set up another WSU three, and a missed free throw by Harmon put the Cougars in position to tie the game at the buzzer. Fortunately for Oregon, both attempts missed. "We gotta get a lot tougher," Altman said. "That's the statement of the game. We gotta get tougher on the boards … and we gotta get a lot tougher handling the ball late." Who Stood Out: Dante and Kepnang combined for 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting with 12 rebounds and four blocks; Dante's 13 points and 10 rebounds gave him his first double-double of the season. "Their effort, they saved us," Altman said. "They played really good." Harmon also finished with 13 points plus six rebounds and two steals, Richardson had seven points with six rebounds and five assists and Young finished with nine points, four rebounds and four assists. What It Means: The Ducks entered the night as one of the last four teams into the NCAA Tournament field according to Jerry Palm of CBS Sports, and one of the first four out according to Joe Lunardi of ESPN, so Monday's victory was a timely one. "Since last game our mindset was, these next couple games we've really got to go after it," Kepnang said. "I don't think anyone's really focused on rankings. I think we're just focusing on getting better." Up Next: The Ducks play at Arizona State on Thursday (6 p.m., ESPN or ESPN2).
