  1. At Nose Tackle? Yes. Georgia had the massive 360 lb. monster... Other spots, no.
  2. Viking Duck...I was at that game, and that video showed me extraordinary blocking, as even a decent back would make great yardage from the blocking and the option operation by the quarterback. Very impressive, but I do not have the time these days for your requested analysis.
  3. I am locking this thread. I ask people not to turn this into a Civil War name discussion, and everyone knows that I do not want any comments that will instigate further discussion into areas that turn into politics. None of you are thinking of that when you write...you just want to state your opinion. Yet I have to look at "will this post initiate a response from someone else that can turn political?" You see, I've been down that slide before, and I recognize it immediately. Three posts in one thread....geez. I am sorry I ever started this thread. Just trying to strike up conversation...
  4. I had no idea how good the Bengal run defense was; the management of the Bengals should be congratulated for assembling such a good team in just two years... And the Rams should be given credit for rolling the dice, and making it work. The NFL killed it in the post-season as every Playoff game was epic endings.
  5. Did you see Hollins make the run defense tackle? He secured the edge and when the RB tried bounce outside...he was there! This was a good one too!
  6. You can recruit to Cal, as Tedford proved that in the past. Wilcox does not have the chops in my opinion. So I guess we can pretty much disagree on all of it, and that is fine. Thanks
  7. Well, Joe Burrow would disagree. (He sat at Ohio State and then transferred to LSU and won a 'Natty.)
  8. Right. Miami has some terrible fans, as I've banned a couple here that none of you saw. That was tongue-in-cheek...
  9. You have to admit...it would be interesting. The media would love it and the fans would probably get up for it...right? But it would need to happen in the next four years, I think. Swap a game out?
  10. My Friends, if I had wanted to start a thread about the change of the Rivalry Game name....I would have. But the thread is about Lanning talking to the former players....and I should not have indulged an answer to those who went off-topic. If people cannot stay on-topic, then I will lock the thread. How do YOU feel about Lanning meeting with former players?
  11. "...they would learn about it, and never want to play for any school associated with making a game of it." Again....what you write makes sense, but only if other schools are actually engaging in negative recruiting to the smallest detail, such as the rivalry game name. I have read THOUSANDS of posts about recruits over the years, and I am quite confident that it has never been a factor in deciding to come to Oregon or Oregon State. I would need to see proof that it is actually an issue to recruits. In fact...this is the first time I've seen anyone bring up recruiting in the name-change discussion. Its a new STRETCH to me!
  12. I think I understand history; hundreds of thousands of men died to stop slavery and preserve the union. Over 186,000 black soldiers fought for the north, and over 40,000 over them died for that noble cause. It comes down to how each person chooses to view it; it was either a name that represented slavery, or a name that represented the first fight for the rights of black Americans. Or is it just a name we use that we don't think twice of over the years because it is just a moniker. No matter how you think of it...the vast majority of both fan bases of UO and OSU disagree with the name change, and it was brought about by the former players of both schools. Getting back to the premise of this thread and my article....the former players are 0-2 with the fans at Oregon, IMHO. Is Lanning spending extended time with a former prominent player who was instrumental in those episodes a good thing?
  13. I think that is a "Red-Herring." I have been following recruiting for over 20 years on the subscriber sites and with the thousands of recruits interviewed....NOT ONE of them ever mentioned their objection to the name of our Rivalry game.
  14. My FishDuck Friends....I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I think rebuilding the bonds with former players is a good thing and it can help with recruiting and contacts in the NFL. On the other hand...it is the former players that wanted Justin Wilcox hired and got the Civil War name change done--without any input from those who pay the bills. (The season ticket holders!) Considering how the former players have NOT acted in the best interests, (IMHO) of the fans--part of me wants him to stay away from them, or at least--don't listen to them? Your thoughts? 15. I had to bump this up as I thought we would get more entries! Where are all of you?
  16. Ducks Finish L.A. Sweep with Small Ball, Long Ball LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 18 Oregon swept two games in the UCLA Tournament using both small ball and the long ball on Saturday. The Ducks scored runs in six different innings to defeat UC San Diego 10-2 in the early game and then got home runs from KK Humphreys and Hannah Galey to top Loyola Marymount 4-1 in the afternoon. “That was awesome,” said Vallery Wong, who not only watched Humphreys’ big fly from third base, but also laid down a sacrifice RBI bunt in the first game Saturday. “I knew it was coming. I told KK as soon as she got up to bat she was ready and that she was going to hit the ball hard and she did that. It was just a great part of the game to do that and I was really excited for her.” The Ducks went 5-0 on the opening weekend of the season. How it Happened (Game 1): The Ducks scored two runs in the first inning, one in the second, four in the third and then added single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. “I loved how we kept scoring inning after inning,” said coach Melyssa Lombardi. “Even if it’s just a couple, we’re constantly getting runs and putting pressure on the opponent.” The small ball against UCSD began in the second inning when Wong executed a sacrifice bunt to score Allee Bunker from third. “It felt really good,” said Wong. “Executing for my team feels really awesome every time.” The Ducks saw additional productive outs in the third inning. Wong scored on a sacrifice fly from Jas Williams before Kai Luschar scored on an RBI groundout off the bat of Paige Sinicki. Two of Oregon’s last three runs against UCSD came via the sacrifice. Wong scored on a Tehya Bird sacrifice fly and Hanna Delgado came home on Ariel Carlson’s sacrifice fly. Bunker went 4-for-4 with three RBI against UCSD, while Delgado was 2-for-3 and scored three runs. Wong and Galey were also 2-for-3 in the first game. Stevie Hansen started against UCSD and went 3.1 innings before coming out after yielding a home run in the fourth. Jordan Dail (2-0) came on in relief and struck out six in 3.2 innings to pick up her second win of the weekend. How it Happened (Game 2): The Ducks found themselves behind for the first time all weekend when Loyola Marymount strung together two hits and took advantage of Makenna Kliethermes’ wild pitch to plate the game’s first run. The Lions kept the Ducks at bay until the pivotal fourth inning. Wong reached on an error before Williams doubled to right center, giving Oregon runners at second and third with one out. Humphreys then sent the first offering she saw from Logan Caymol over the wall in left for her first home run of the season. “KK’s got great power,” said Lombardi. “KK’s a great hitter so it was nice to see her come up big for us.” One out later, Galey smashed an opposite-field blast out to right centerfield for her first homer of the year. The 4-1 lead was all Kliethermes (2-0) needed. After the first inning, she gave up no runs and just two hits over the final six innings to wrap up the weekend with her second complete game of the season. In three games, Kliethermes struck out 21 batters with one earned run on six hits allowed in 15 innings. Noteworthy: Bunker matched her career high with four hits. Oregon’s pitching staff finished the weekend with a 1.08 earned run average and 40 strikeouts. Quoteable Head Coach Melyssa Lombardi “I thought overall our pitchers did a great job in giving us an opportunity to win every single game this weekend.” On Deck: Oregon heads to the Lone Star State to face Texas State Thursday in San Marcos before a three-game series at Baylor.
  17. Still no Brooke Yanez, and I have to assume she must be injured?
  18. Details later after the second game; in the first game Stevie Hansen got the start at pitcher, with Jordan Dail coming in to close. Allee Bunker went 4-4 hitting with 3 RBIs!
  19. Yep. Lanning Laws: "That Won't Last a Week at Oregon" by Charles Fischer of FishDuck
  20. I noticed that too, and while she is not the player Graves said she would become....she is helping the Ducks and the sport with her play and her honorable conduct. It makes me proud...
