How many times have we Oregon fans heard that or read it? We just had another new "Drive-by Troll" today sign up to write something of that nature. I am creating this post with a response, so I don't have to rewrite it every time, but simply send the link to the opposing fans. If you have something to add, (and so many of you are better writers than I) do add it in the response posts below. Thanks! For Washington Fans: Let's talk facts: the State of Washington has 21 Billionaires, while Oregon has two. Washington is the only state that has two 100+ Billion Net Worth residents, while Phil and Penny Knight are worth 55 Billion. If you are not tapping into that wealth in Washington, then that is a problem with your fund-raising/development unit of the University of Washington, because ten-times more of the staggering wealth should be going to Husky causes than to the Ducks. When did Phil and Penny Knight begin to help Oregon? Only after the football program did it themselves, as only after the 1994 Rose Bowl and 1995 Cotton Bowl did Phil reach out to Mike Bellotti to see how he could help. You see, winners want to work with winners and Phil had to see that Oregon had good leadership in their football coach and Athletic Director. Meanwhile Washington made bad hire after bad hire following Jim Lambright, thus affluent Washington fans did not want to support that. Can you blame them? Your problems on the football field are of your own making, as Phil and Penny Knight had nothing to do with your poor Athletic Department leadership or poor fund-raising by the University of Washington. For Oregon State Fans: A crossroads moment in your football history had nothing to do with Phil and Penny Knight as in 1979 the OSU Athletic Director had a choice to make between three finalists for the open Head Football Coach slot. The choices were Terry Donahue, (who went to UCLA and won the most in Westwood ever) Rich Brooks, and Craig Fertig. (Who was the OC to the National Champion USC Trojans) Think of it; had your AD selected Brooks....Oregon's history would have been yours. Brooks would have brought Mike Bellotti to Corvallis, who then would have brought Chip Kelly in to wear orange. Meanwhile Oregon State made bad hire after bad hire following Dee Andros, thus affluent Beaver fans did not want to support that. Can you blame them? (There are plenty of business and engineering graduates who have done well and could be your next Phil and Penny, but....) Your problems on the football field are of your own making, as Phil and Penny Knight had nothing to do with your poor Athletic Department leadership. The Ducks first did it on their OWN, and then Attracted Substantial Donors

The Fight Over the Future of College Sports is Here
Charles Fischer replied to Duck 1972's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And if that becomes the case...it is no longer a team that represents Oregon, and where are we left as fans? -
So Jim Mastro is doing anything or be anywhere other than with Cristobal? Do know that this is a BIG pay cut, as Nevada does not pay well. The new Head Coach from Oregon, Ken Wilson does not even make a million per year! Former Oregon RB Coach Jim Mastro takes Director of Ops. Job at Nevada by Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire

And whatever you pay football players as employees...you have to pay the same to Women athletes in all sports. (The law) -
Mario Cristobal's Defensive Coordinator Disaster
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Omigosh! A new article where it states, "Does Cristobal take a long time to hire his coordinators? Yes, but he has a track record of getting the hire right—which is what matters most at the end of the day." Mario Cristobal's Defensive Coordinator Disaster
Charles Fischer posted a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My FishDuck Friends, when a new coach is building his staff--doesn't he first hire the Coordinators so that the input is given for the other assistant coaches hired since they need to be all versed in the same offense or defense? Isn't that what Coach Lanning did? Yet Mario has hired everyone but his coordinators, and we've already discussed extensively why anyone would pass on being his offensive coordinator, but what about his defensive coordinator? It would appear that he has not had any luck there either, and that should have been one of his first hires? Now he looking for some NFL underling to fill the spot? Mario Cristobal Considering NFL Coach to be Defensive Coordinator by Christopher Stock of InsidetheU I was pondering this, and thought about how DeRuyter just left as soon as he could, and did not look back. He did not have the year on defense that we thought he would have....and it makes me wonder..."did Mario meddle in the defense too?" Is that why he can't hire a DC, as the word is out among coaches that you cannot execute your own plan? You'll note that Andy Avalos left in much the same way--just gone, with little in the way of parting gestures like you saw with other assistant coaches. Avalos had a terrific 2019, but not a good 2020...was there "Mario-Meddling" there as well? I have NO proof,I am simply connecting some dots. The media has made a BIG DEAL of the Cristobal hire at Miami, and yet he is becoming desperate to hire coordinators? Maybe the word is out among all the coaches, and it would not take long. Moorhead left in the same manner--just escaping. But Cristobal is SMARTER Than ALL of Us He has to be! His butting-in behaviors has been rewarded with EIGHT MILLION a year. So now that his MO has been reinforced, I cannot imagine that he will change since he was just told how good he is. And potential OCs and DCs know that, and the good ones want nothing to do with him. Moorhead went from a highly regarded national reputation to Akron? Whew! There is a lot more to this story than we'll ever know, but when you have repeated examples.... -
Matt Prehm is the manager and primarily reporter/writer for 247, and has been doing this for years. I have much more, but cannot disclose in public! Let's just say that he has rules on their site--unless it pertains to FishDuck...then you have free reign to write anything. But he is very knowledgeable and has connections for his pay site.

I love the weather report for Saturday's game at Green Bay; the high is expected to be 21 degrees, with a low of 5 degrees! Yikes. -

Mario Cristobal REJECTED by Another OC Candidate at Miami
Charles Fischer replied to McDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is not OUR values, but how the system is now designed. It is amazing that even if you fail as a coach...you get paid millions to go away! Disgusting to me too... -

Really good point. Coach Graves would be fried by his own team. -
What if Travis Dye Transfers to USC or even...
Charles Fischer replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Naw. I think he knows he is not NFL material and is throwing NIL bait out there to see what he can get for his final college year. And use it as leverage with Oregon, of which I would not be offended by considering all he has done. I think Jonathan Smith could really use him well, but that would sting.... -

This just muddies the Duck waters to me. On one hand she could be right about a "double-standard" in what Men can say versus Women during a game. Or maybe she is playing the "Sexist" card? Or maybe she is a bit more sensitive? Or maybe Graves did call her the "B" word, and that is not nice. Hard to know the truth! -

The fact they are "ex" on both sides of the aisle indicates they have the smarts to "know when to fold them." I think Mario is going to need an idiot to take the job or someone desperate. -
In two weeks and two days, (February 4th) the deadline for Verdell to decide between staying and going looms. The good news is that we fans will know soon enough instead of twisting in the wind, but the coaches wish they could know for recruiting purposes, I'm sure. Staying or Going? Omigosh....Mario offered Kendal Briles of Arkansas yesterday, and Briles is better for it! This would have to be THE WORST offensive coordinator position in the nation. You will look bad, and the fans will boo you. Then YOU, not the head coach will get blamed? He will be now looking for a stooge who has nothing to lose.
