  1. Like all of you--I am devastated by the terrible loss of Spencer Webb. We will not be publishing articles on FishDuck.com (the article blog/site) for the remainder of this week and next week as a moment of silence for him, the family, friends, Duck fans and Oregon football teammates who will be mourning his loss. Posts on this site, the OBD forum will continue as you wish, although I personally will not posting much during this period. Our GREEN REFUGE cannot escape everything from the real world...
  2. UO Athletics Mourns The Loss Of Spencer Webb Statement from Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens, head football coach Dan Lanning, and the Oregon football program on the loss of Spencer Webb: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Spencer Webb. Our hearts go out to his family, teammates, and friends at such a difficult time. We will miss Spencer greatly."
  3. Notalot told me yesterday how Clemson has three 5-Star quarterbacks in the room right now. Alabama had two Heisman winners in the QB room at the same time....this is where the elite programs are, and where we want to be.
  4. The changes have not happened yet, and won't for two years. I am going to enjoy college football to the fullest before it all changes....and that means yelling for whoever USC's opponent is!
  5. And some of us are shouting...."GoGo Offense!" Oregon Football: Is Joe Moorhead Adding the New GoGo Offense? FISHDUCK.COM Oregon fans have heard much this off-season about the innovative, up-tempo Run-Pass-Option (RPO) offense new offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead ran at Fordham...
  6. See if this doesn't begin to change your view about standing pat. We get left behind! (Thanks to Notalot)
  7. This is a critical subject, and a link I will hang onto for when somebody declares, "Stars don't matter," in a post. The Ducks are at least eligible at this point, but I believe will climb that rating with this Lanning staff.
  8. I think our friend was thinking of Noah Sewell, who was the best player on the field in that game.
  9. No. If BYU is great and we beat them, but lose to Georgia and go 11-1...and win the Pac-12 and go 12-1....if we were in that spot--the buzz about Lanning and Oregon would be strong. It would depend upon how well so many other teams do, but I believe 12-1 gives us good shot at the Playoff. That is my fantasy....and I'm sticking to it!
  10. Boy....he makes a great case for ESPN and the Pac-10 to work together....and not. He is bringing great information that we are not receiving from the talking-head "sources." Did you know I did quite the article on Canzano back-in-the-day? How John Canzano Inspired FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM How John Canzano inspired FishDuck (Charles Fischer) to make the fan site, FishDuck.com a santuary for Oregon fans from the cesspool of the usual sports media.
  11. Nope. Utah is the most important IMHO. Doesn't matter what happens in the Georgia game by the end of the season because by then--Oregon will be a much different team under this new staff. But we gotta beat Utah to get into the conference championship for certain. I will admit that payback does enter into it, but it is not a hatred or anything as I highly respect their program. And they were dumped on by the LA schools as we were. If we win that game... ...a conference championship with USC would then be the biggest game. Regardless of the Playoff--get into the Rose Bowl again!
  12. I could not believe my eyes as I read part of an article referring to how Justin Flowe could be a high NFL Draft pick next spring. What? He's only played in two games! But two years have passed and with this being his third year...he is eligible for the NFL Draft in April of 2023. Here's hoping he sets the world on fire this fall for his benefit and Oregon's!
  13. To me, the craziest part is the foolishness of a new coach to change what was working so well. Charles....he is gone now...let it go!
  14. And this does not include how Oregon was the first team in NCAA history to score 45 points a game for five years straight...
  15. How can it get any better than that? Coming from an assistant coach--Wowsa. That is one incredible culture Lanning is building! Something tells me...
  16. There are few people out there who are a bigger fan of what Chip did at Oregon than I....but I agree with JDuck on this.
  17. Just as Clemson did when they rose from the ashes of losing to dominate their conference and go on to Playoffs and 'Nattys. What I worry about is...to compete with B1G/SEC programs in football, more of the budget pie at Oregon will need to go to football and thus sports will have to be cut. I know I've said this before, and I guess I am just trying to get used to the idea.
  18. Good gosh I hope you are right! You need a savvy media negotiator who has experience, and I'm glad we have George and not Larry!
  19. Let's see the on-field results before you write the conference or Oregon off. You may be pleasantly surprised...
  20. CountryProf...it is great to have you on-board as a new member. Thanks for the stats, and do post often--WELCOME!
  21. Wowsa. This is pretty amazing.... "Without a doubt (this staff is special). That's why we all came here," said Love. "When Coach Lanning put together a staff of incredible people, everybody had options, everybody wanted all these coaches to go to different schools, so it wasn't just Oregon was their only option. He got people that are elite, but the most important thing that he did was he got coaches that care about the kids, and it's real. And that's the best thing about what coach did is get real coaches who want to serve the kids, who want to create greatness for themselves and their families. But more importantly for the players. And what he's created here, and it's pretty incredible. And we're so excited to be part of this chapter."
  22. If you put this together with the Canzano article...it would seem that the upcoming announcement in the above article would give support to ESPN, and assure that evil channel, that yes--we intend to stick together and thus you can put together a good package for us. Or would the announcement be for other entities? The streaming services?
  23. Some good information here, although this makes me pause.... • Thompson negotiated dozens of these kinds of deals with a variety of conferences in his career. He said that ESPN may decide to make a shrewd offer to the Pac-12, knowing that it if it’s rejected, the conference is likely to fall apart and have a handful of members end up with the Big 12. “ESPN,” he said, “can then go after those rights buoyed by the fact that they have $$$ in their pocket that they didn't pay the Pac 12.” For me, it is a article that tortures me with the possibilities, because ESPN could save the Pac-10, or destroy it. The thought that we are in ESPN's hands....our destiny is tied to their decisions and working with them makes me ill.
