That analysis, like the one below, will not age well... Game Day Skull Session: Get Dumped Then, Oregon WWW.ELEVENWARRIORS.COM It's a bad day to be an Oregon Duck. Ducks will be Doves if We Go to the BIG
Charles Fischer replied to Pac10again's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
No...he won't, IMHO. He believes he can win a 'Natty here, has the staff, the facilities--and a loaded team with talent compared to rebuilding somewhere else, and trying to win in the SEC. After he wins us a 'Natty....he will go to the NFL. (You heard it here first!) -
Ducks will be Doves if We Go to the BIG
Charles Fischer replied to Pac10again's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nope, we saw it with one recruit. Or it may be the reason he is using? After all, if you don't want to go somewhere, any reason will work and that was a timely one. Once Dano shows the world on the field what Oregon is about? Some verbals might be turned, and Oregon will do just fine in recruiting this year. (And that is an awesome picture!) -

Re-evaluating the 2017 Coaching Hires
Charles Fischer replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A very interesting article--thanks. And it goes to show how tough it is hire a winning coach, as the odds are very much against you. -
My FishDuck Friends, I am excited to announce that our date of moving to seven days a week of articles begins August 1st! We will have great articles every single day through the entire football season that are created to inform, entertain and generate discussion in the Our Beloved Ducks forum. As you know, I am the Shameless Beggar who is often asking OBD members for help, and we are now up to 37 total volunteers between writers, editors, Duck News Hunters, and moderators. When enough people take a few minutes a day to help, it takes hours off my shoulders and I am very grateful, as are the thousands who read and post in this wonderful forum. Best New Group of Writers....EVER I am delighted to announce three new writers who chose to join us, and while the current writers joined us gradually over the last decade--this is the best group to come in as rookies ever at FishDuck. Let's meet them! DazeNconfused has already begun recently and was born a Cali kid, and his uncle is a USC Alum. He remembers going to an SC game when he was like 5 with him, moved to Oregon in 1977 when he was six, and became a Duck fan long ago. He remembers the Reggie Ogburn QB days, so it was before the Ducks got good and he's been a sports nut since he was a kid. He watched Reggie Ogburn! While he prefers to remain anonymous, his knowledge of football, the Ducks and other teams is quite vast, thus when he gives an opinion article--he often backs it up superb research. He is the major reason we are moving early to seven days a week due to a flurry of articles he created for August, a couple of which will ruffle some Duck feathers, but are truthful. He does critical analysis! Alan Lohner has been known as "Axel" on this forum, and is famous with us all for his humor and scathing commentary of the Trojans and Huskies. (Gotta love the guy!) He is moving to a new posting name of "Alan" and he will be writing "Saturday Spoofs," where he pokes a little fun at our opponent that day. On non-gamedays, he'll be offering his thoughts on Oregon football. Alan is a native of Toledo, Ohio, where he served as a police officer from 1976-1980, before he moved West, graduating with a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Oregon in 1981. He’s enjoyed a long, successful career as a writer and creative director in advertising and marketing communications. Alan takes delight in writing satire and spoofs for Ducks fans. He’s also written two self-help books; one is a highly acclaimed guide for teens and young adults, available as a free PDF to any member of the FishDuck community. Send a request to Alan, via message, in the OBD forum. Drex Heikes is a former Oregon Daily Emerald editor-in-chief who went on to work 44 years at in New York, Alaska, California and Nevada. He worked 21 years at the Los Angeles Times, where he was foreign affairs editor in the Washington D.C. bureau, editor of the Times Sunday magazine and New York bureau chief for coverage of 9/11. He also wrote occasionally, even about sports. He left the Times for a few years to help revive Las Vegas Sun newspaper, which soon won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize gold medal for public service. He later returned to the Times before retiring in Los Angeles. Drex will be writing as "a fan from the bleachers" as he told me, although he has a sneaky sense of humor that will hit you in his articles when you least suspect it. As you can imagine, I am beyond delighted (and humbled) that we would have an analyst, and two journalism professionals join our team to write for their and our enjoyment. They are another testament to the quality of our audience, as all three are members of this wonderful forum and were when the Shameless Beggar approached them. I can tell you that each is impressive, and yet they are just like the rest of us; they are massive fans of Our Beloved Ducks, and have a great sense of humor as well. Some would say that I've never written such a welcome for a new group like this, but the truth is...I've never had a new group as talented as this. From them, we will learn tons about Oregon football, we will laugh, and we will have fantastic discussions initiated from their work. Please welcome them!

Yep, and this article put Oregon as No. 1 in the conference, and No. 7 worldwide in the number of fans with over five million. Where are the Oregon Ducks in study of largest college football fan bases? | Ducks Wire DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks have one of the biggest fan bases in the nation. But where do they stack up among the most beloved teams in college football?

Below is from CaneSport, an On3 site for Miami fans... WR Jurrion Dickey was a 5-star visitor to Miami’s campus today for the recruit barbecue / pool party with his brother and mother. He’d spent yesterday fishing, a big pastime of his. And he caught a nurse shark. So can Miami reel in this big fish? Well, Dickey is committed to Oregon and says he has no plans to shake things up right now. “The visit today was good, we didn’t stay that long,” he said. “We just went by, said what’s up? I’m just having some fun in the recruiting process.” Asked if he’s at least giving some consideration to the Canes at this point, Dickey responded, “not really.”

I was curious about his challenge of assimilation, and this makes it even more fascinating... The biggest languages present in Botswana include: English – 611 thousand speakers. (Official Language) Setswana – 1.83 million speakers. (National Language) Kalanga – 118 thousand speakers. Sekgalagadi – 71 thousand speakers. Shona – 47 thousand speakers. Mbukshu – 24 thousand speakers. Ndebele – 24 thousand speakers. Tshwa – 24 thousand speakers.

Good gosh, this guy runs a 9.94 100 meters? Whew!

Miami is Pulling Out All the Stops to Flip Dickey

Any receiver that plays for a Cristobal offense is crazy, (talk to Micah Pittman at Florida State) and he will eventually see that and stick with Oregon. -
Ducks will be Doves if We Go to the BIG
Charles Fischer replied to Pac10again's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is doubtful that conference winners will have a guaranteed place in the new CFP, thus a popularity contest that is rigged against us. It is about both, as we must have both to prosper, IMHO. -

We have had over 60 new members over the last three months, and I have not been able to greet all of them when they post. (Most do not post, and I don't know why! It is the only safe place anywhere to post) Great to have you in this superb community, and do post your thoughts often. WELCOME! -
How Can OBD Remain Relevant in Turbulent Times?
Charles Fischer replied to idontrollonshobbas's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If there was ever a year to win at least 10 wins to continue the brand....this is the year. To me the two biggest components (beyond the excellent suggestions you made) are winning big now, and the confidence exuded by our head coach about the Oregon Brand, and how it will be strong no matter the conference. If you say it with confidence, it is reassuring, and then when you win big--you confirm it. Do that, and much of the rest will fall into place, IMHO. Just WIN Baby! -
USC Killed Previous PAC-12 Expansion Efforts
Charles Fischer replied to lownslowav8r's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I thought I read that they either were not invited, or advised to decline by the Pac-12. Not sure though... The President of Oregon was not there either, although many other university presidents were. Trying to stop leaks before they happen? Or not wanting to answer for giving Larry-Living-Large a pass as long as he did? -
Ducks will be Doves if We Go to the BIG
Charles Fischer replied to Pac10again's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The projections show that in seven years....the TV revenue given to B1G teams will be over 100 million compared to the projected TV revenue to Pac-12 teams at just over 50 million. You cannot be buried like that and compete for long... My preference is to stay in the Pac as well, but if the invitation is made to Oregon, we should take it to remain competitive and relevant. (And I think we will do fine in the B1G) -
Three Reasons Why Oregon & Washington Need Each Other
Charles Fischer replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This hack starts out with..."Unless U.O. can consistently make the College Football Playoff, they’ll probably never get respect from major networks," and that is just nonsense. Oregon is No. 7 among all colleges for the biggest global brand, and also has more fans worldwide than Washington--by a mile. "Seattle may not be No. 2, but they’re in the same weight class as L.A." More Husky hubris.... The writer then does a ton of one-sentence paragraphs, of which is fine for a post, but for a published article? That is not good writing, IMHO. -
Q: HOW LIKELY WILL THE NEW MEDIA DEAL COME FROM A NON-TRADITIONAL PARTNER (AMAZON, APPLE)? GK: "Without talking about individual potential partners, I would say it's highly likely that we will end up with a big digital partner for some of our rights and that our rights will be distributed in a way that's unique, different and new. We're excited about that." Everything George Kliavkoff said during his Q&A portion of Pac-12 Media Day 247SPORTS.COM Following George Kliavkoff's opening statement, he, along with Merton Hanks and Stanford AD Bernard Muir, answered questions from the media. Our running back room is superb, and young....without Richard. And we have the No. 6 running back in the nation verballed to us for 2023 as it is. It was good-or-good to me, as we do need some offensive linemen! Dante Dowdell is pretty studly too...
