  1. Mario snookered Rob Mullens about his upcoming offense, the fans, the players and I highly suspect...the coaches he recruited. This would have been a boring off-season because prior years we had the thought that,..."he'll learn and turn the offense over," and he is growing, etc. Now, after four years we know that he is NOT changing, and Micah lived it. My friends...we have really dodged a bullet here!
  2. Coach Boles, Coach Mosier and I did analysis articles a year ago about the possibility of this, and we would love to see this at Oregon. Talk about setting things on it's head!
  3. The defensive lineman took a recruiting visit to Nebraska with his parents? Our current vulnerable position is the only way Frosty can beat the Ducks for a recruit. DL Ben Roberts to Decide Between Nebraska and Oregon This Evening by Mike Matya of Husker Online
  4. The results of recruiting speak for itself; keep what is working on-board! Dan Lanning Makes First Coaching Hire, Retains Don Johnson as Director of Player Personnel by Matt Prehm of Duck Territory 247
  5. I do NOT know how revenue can be generated from the NIL of any offensive linemen to justify 50K. Looks like a payoff to me...and charity work by a freshman guard is worth 50K to any charity? Those who work for charities that I've coordinated Planned Gifts with do not make much money. It is beyond a stretch that a "charity" paying 50K to a 19 year old tackle can be justified. Wow.
  6. That is pretty smart...turn an objection into a selling point. Not feeling sorry as the negative recruiting against Oregon when the NCAA took two years to decide to slap us on the hand--took a much worse toll in our recruiting than the actual penalty. All the Pac-12 schools frightened recruits about the future--probably as coaches are now about what will happen at ASU. And I promise you the "Mario can't coach," and "players don't develop at Oregon" was probably used more than once against the Ducks on the recruiting trail. No tears for the Huskies here!
  7. It would not have taken much to discuss his philosophy and goals on offense to assure the Duck faithful that we are not getting another version of Cristobal. Just 30 seconds in 24 minutes could have done it beyond what he said already. I think it was important, and I think many other fans think so as well. But don't get me wrong--I LOVE the hire, as his upside is so much more than MC, IMHO.
  8. Well, Mario wasn't wrong about, "the Huskies represent all that is wrong with college football."
  9. Thanks so much for posting this, as this IS the best confirmation. Makes us all feel great...thanks.
  10. He was not one of the "lost" ones, but I too am quite glad he is joining us.
  11. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) EUGENE, Ore. — Verone McKinley III joined Kayvon Thibodeaux as a 2021 consensus all-American on Tuesday as both Ducks were named to the Sporting News All-America first team. A player is recognized as a consensus all-American after being named to the first team by at least half of the five official selectors – the Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Associated Press (AP), Sporting News, and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). McKinley has now earned first-team all-America honors by the WCFF, AP, and Sporting News, while also landing on the FWAA second team. The AFCA all-America teams will be revealed on Wednesday. Thibodeaux secured consensus all-America status on Monday with the release of the AP all-America team. He has been named to the first team by each of the first four official selectors, and can become the fourth unanimous all-American in program history if he is named to the first team by the AFCA. Thibodeaux and McKinley are the ninth and 10th consensus all-Americans ever for the Ducks, and the first pair of teammates to earn the honor in the same season since Marcus Mariota and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu in 2014. LaMichael James and Cliff Harris also were consensus all-Americans in the same season in 2010. 15. What have I been writing about for the last four years? How many hundreds of articles by writers on FishDuck have there been? How many thousands of posts by YOU have there been about the Oregon offense under Cristobal? The decline of scoring, the brand, of entertainment... And nobody spoke of the elephant in the room at the press conference. Isn't the ONE QUESTION we all wanted to know..."Coach Lanning, what is your philosophy on offense?" "Beyond the platitudes we heard from Cristobal...what are your goals for scoring per game? What do YOU think it will take to win the "Natty with scoring?" "How do you see this happening?" "What kind of offense are you bringing to Oregon? Pro-set, Spread...what? Your answer could mean a difference of 20,000 more season tickets sold and fully funding all sports, so it is consequential. WHAT are Oregon fans going to see?" My FishDuck Friends...I am just about ready to risk my media credentials to ask these questions that none of the other spineless media will. Think of all the articles you read every day...and all the journalists you heard asking questions in the press conference. Only one asked a question anywhere close to what we needed to hear the answer to. (And Jerry Thompson is a friend of mine) Perhaps it is too many "Red Chair IPAs" late at night for me?

  18. You gotta give the guy credit; it has been 12 years, but nobody ever forgets a few million owed them.... (Gosh what a quote machine!) Look I know it is not Oregon, but some things nationally are interesting to the point of laugher. And he is right, as the Red Raiders have not done well since he left. 19. Wow. No kidding, as that is AMAZING. And the other listed there...the analyst? Don't be surprised if he doesn't materialize again...
  20. Well...I better wake up and celebrate! Thanks for posting the information ICamel!
  21. You are right; this could shout the intentions of those two players. Between Verdell, Dye and Cardwell? Might be more leaving...
  22. John Canzano felt that something Lanning said could be the new mantra...to begin making T-Shirts of...."We will Grind Together." You might want to re-think that one....unless you meant it to be funny?
