Oregon Lands Commitment From Punter Ross James
Charles Fischer replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It was a shame to lose two good ones...hope he is as good. And I still wanted the "Mustache-Man"...at placekicking. -

I was groaning about Jacob Walsh being next up because he has NOT handled low curve balls this season at all. TONS of strike-outs waving at dipping balls that end up on the ground. He gets his second strike...by waving at another curve going low...almost at ground level, and I'm shaking my head..."why don't they pinch-hit for him?" Then he hits a double to win the game! Coach Waz knew best, and that Fischer-Fan knows nothing...and grateful for it! I love my Ducks!

Quite a Pitcher Parade for the Ducks, as Christian Ciuffetelli started for an inning, then Stone Churby for an inning, and then two innings from Caleb Sloan. Logan Mercado got into some trouble in his two innings, but pulled it out, giving up no runs. Then Rio Brittan, followed by Matt Dallas who gave up a three run homer. Dylan Sabia shut them down in the 9th, so a total of SEVEN pitchers held No. 10 Gonzaga to just four runs. Way to go pitchers!

Wow! Tanner Smith noted how the picture turned his back completely to him for an extended period of time, and he sprinted and slid for home before the thrill could get there. Smith, stole home plate to get the first run! Then Kassovitz hits a home run that bounces off the top of the wall and away to give the ducks three runs in the first inning.

Oregon Defense Picked to be Top 15 for Future
Charles Fischer replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Time for La-La Land for me as I daydream about what could be? If the future projection of our defense in this article is correct....what if we were in the top 10-15 in offense as well? How good would this team be?- 1 reply

(Oregon Athletic Dept. Press Release to Credentialed Media) EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon football team’s 2022 season opener against Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game on September 3 will kick off at 12:30 p.m. PT on ABC, the network announced on Tuesday morning. The game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be the first meeting between the Ducks and the Bulldogs since 1977. This will be Oregon’s first appearance in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. First-year head coach Dan Lanning will make his Oregon debut against his former team after helping lead Georgia to the national championship last season before taking over full time in Eugene. Lanning directed the top defense in the nation throughout his three seasons as the Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator, allowing just 13.6 points per game during that stretch. Oregon’s allotment of tickets for the game is already sold out due to the incredible support of the Ducks’ season ticket holders and donors.

I am completely sold on Dan Lanning, but I am not yet on George K., as I felt more could have been done with the Alliance. Your thoughts? -
I'm Getting a Serious Man-Crush on Coach Locklyn...
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
His mantra is like this one... -
My Utah friend...I cannot tell you how many times that Oregon has been promoted as something great, the players get puffed up and then fall to an opponent they shouldn't. (See Stanford game, 2021 for the most recent example) It is really hard to not believe the press clippings, and thus not have the same determination that you had...such as when you faced Oregon the first time last year. It can be the same team, the same coaches and the same talent as before, but a different effort given by the players. So many times Oregon has tripped over their egos, and it is a BIG FACTOR for Utah, and not only do the players not have any experience with it--neither does your coach. You could have your best team ever by the end of the season, but have two losses that shouldn't have happened. It is human nature, and it is real. If Utah can overcome that, then you ARE the champions and will deserve it. (And I like the thought of Our Beloved Ducks being the underdog at Autzen when the Utes come to town)

Duck fans...you like being the underdog? I know I do, and Utah has no experience at being the "hunted," as it is quite a different mind-set. Rob Moseley: Ducks Are Rocking It! 10-20-30
Charles Fischer replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Rob Mullens gets a lot of grief, and it has been deserved on some of the football contracts in the past, but cannot be denied is that he has created a ton of winning at Oregon. He has made quite a few good hires, and Coach Lanning might be his best yet. Thanks for the factoid! -
Very little coach-speak here, as she explains what is crucial..."the first game is most important."
