  1. Now I get it....after his analysis of Justin Herbert...this could be the kiss of drafting death!
  2. I am really rooting for this to get him out of all the discussions of college coaching openings such as USC! I do not want to even picture him with the Trojans....
  3. Perfect choice...I was thinking the same when watching him.
  4. She is going to be a very popular female athlete before she is done!
  5. Please, please, PLEASE report something as soon as you see it. If we are all looking out for the benefit of the community by helping to keep it all clean--it works better, more people of those we want will be attracted, and we have virtuous circle of building a wonderful community. Gotta stop those Trolls...
  6. Chip was superb at going into what I called, "turtle-time" when he wanted to run out the clock. It can be done with the Shotgun offenses as not only are teams doing it, but all the new wrinkles make it easier. The nine minute drive to win the Cal game in Berkeley in 2010 is the best example. We did not score, but ended the game and it was a beautiful thing....
  7. Outstanding post, and thanks. I still want Arnett or someone from the Rocky Long coaching tree, but this is all pretty entertaining.
  8. Great example; they have a system, and even their conference foes that know it is coming...cannot stop it due to the execution.
  9. BDF....you are killing-it with the GIFs! Very funny....love it. About the article....isn't it funny how we have not had a great receiver since Dillon Mitchell....you know, before Cristobal?
  10. First of all....Outstanding post! Second....to me the answer is much bigger than the running backs, as it is the offensive system. The Shotgun Zone-Read produced an average of 43 points a game for a nine year period of 2008-2016, (When Chip Kelly and Mark Helfrich ran the offense) and we won the conference rushing title every year for nine years when prior to that we had not over 30 years. That offense worked, and still does with so many teams doing well with it. Helfrich had a much more balanced offense with Mariota and the passing attack that could have been developed now with the new variations discovered could have been lethal. Mirabal has a history at every place he has been as an offensive line coach of the rushing yards declining from his first year, and we are on that track I see! The irony is rich; the guy who wants to run the ball the most, does it the worst in nearly two decades. He would rather be tough than smart! Cristobal does not want to do what was done before here on offense out of pride, that he is "not succeeding off of Chip's coat-tails" and doing it his way. He does not have a system or a way that works... Sorry to keep harping on this, but in just Cristobal's third game at Oregon in 2018....I wrote that, "this offense will not take us to the promised land." That remains true.
  11. That is a great article--thanks for sharing it!
  12. Oregon’s program was successful early on in the season thanks to the vast array of new and returning contributors on offense, but this abundance of variety also had points of faltering in recent outings. Not having that “go to” player leaves the offense guessing as much as the defense on what they should run in a make-or-break situation, and potentially could ... Read the full article here...
  13. This was my first post where I designed it almost like an article with pictures throughout. The process is cumbersome compared to creating an article on FishDuck, but I am pleased with a "first-effort," especially since I am not tech-intuitive. But I thought some of those Kelly Graves quotes were something everyone would want to see. Thorburn is great, and I appreciate his work.
  14. Gosh I love stats like that in the morning....it smells like...victory.
  15. Ryan Thorburn of the Eugene Register-Guard has done some terrific basketball articles of both genders, but this one I thought would be good to share going into the big "Tussle-in-Tucson." This article is available by subscription and I am not reprinting it, but simply passing along some key observations from it. Kylee Watson is COMING ON STRONG... Due to Sedona Prince being out, the 6' 4" Watson (No. 22 below) has had the opportunity for more minutes and had a big game at Cal with 12 points (6-8 shooting!) three rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Coach Graves commented how, "She's practicing better. She getting in the gym, getting some time, and it's paying off. I think she's a really good player. We've given her the opportunity a bit more in the last couple of weeks and she's making the most of it. And guess how you get more time? You get more time by producing and playing well. I love what I see. She is so aggressive and I just felt we needed that." Te-Hina in Transition? Coach Kelly Graves wants more tempo and is happy with the progression of Te-Hina Paopao in pushing the team to 20 fast-break points against Cal. Graves explained her progress.... "We've become too tentative. We run our lanes and than our point guard kind of waits for some kind of drag screen and it's too slow. We've worked since Christmas on trying to probe in transition, push it, get inside the defense, make the defense shrink. That's when you're going to have open kick-outs to really good shooters. I'm glad (Paopao) is a quick learner, and she's a really good heady point guard." Taylors' Return Makes a Big Difference Seeing junior guard Taylor Chavez (No. 3 below) come back and score 13 points against Cal was big for the team, with some assists going to Taylor Mikesell who is coming out of her shooting slump. The Ducks need all players available for the big game against No. 7 Arizona and shooting well. No Pullman Patsies... Washington State was picked to be last in preseason polls by both the coaches and media, yet they just broke into the top 25 (25th) for the first time Cougar Womens Basketball history. The struggle the Oregon Women had in Pullman to win was justified by the WSU win over No. 7 Arizona last weekend. In fact the only loss the Cougars have is to....the Ducks as WSU is 7-1 and in second place in the conference standings. Coach Graves had some choice words about this subject.... "For all those people who kind of pooh-poohed our close win at Washington State, what are we all saying now? I told you that's a good team. So that win looks better and better doesn't it?" Whew! Now onto the national stage with an ESPN audience at 4:00 PM Thursday...
  16. OREGON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2020 EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon-UCLA game scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Matthew Knight Arena has been rescheduled for Feb. 1 in Los Angeles. The game will tip at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast by ESPN2. The Ducks will now have a three-game road trip to Los Angeles, playing the Bruins on Jan. 28, USC on Jan. 30 and UCLA again two days later. Oregon and UCLA were originally set to play in Eugene on Dec. 23 before that game was postponed. The University of Oregon men’s basketball program announced Tuesday that it has paused all team-related activities because of COVID-19 protocols and that this week’s games against Arizona State (Thursday) and Arizona (Saturday) have been postponed. 17. Here is my challenge; within a half hour of someone posting--we have a moderator looking it over. After it has been checked for following our rules, then we don't check it again. There are very clever people who know about the time window of editing versus moderating. So if I have the editing process open to a member on a post for four hours--some bad people will come back to their post after they know it has been edited, and then add inappropriate content to their post. And all the new readers of that thread are now exposed to their Trolling Trash.... So...I would love people to edit their posts, but if I have too long a window--some will use that opportunity for dirty deeds. I do not like either choice...
  18. Boy, how many examples in the NW do we need? Mario...please listen!
  19. Wow. Gotta watch for him and great catch 30Duck! Thanks...
  20. This is another one of the items we are deciding upon, because right now you can come in and edit within five minutes of posting, and we are going to expand it longer, but are concerned about "how long?"
