This Coaching Search Might Go Until Sunday....
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I love how you think, and tomorrow morning yours-truly will have an article right up that alley... -
There appear to be rumors of a couple of names for Head Coach that nobody knows about, (not a surprise to me and good!) and it might not be until Sunday before any announcement is made. I pass this along simply to relieve tension, and let you know this is going to go on longer. Thus we might as well take a breath and get on with life because I would be stunned if there was an announcement today, and a little surprised if one was made tomorrow. And THANKS to the good people who are posting articles, and even rumors in good faith. We are all in this together my FishDuck Friends... We gotta have a little fun as we go....

Good Grief: No More False Reporting!
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is difficult, but I try to measure sincerity and intent. In the case of the fellow reporting that Chip is going to be hired...he provided the link to the Bruin website proclaiming it. So he posted in good faith and thus escaped the Wrath of Charles. Charles just found out that a writer missed his deadline... What I love about this site is that there is an extraordinary effort to be respectful, and that people here make an effort to honestly honor each others' opinions. I've been everywhere man, and there is nothing quite like this anywhere. I've seen wrong information posted with good intentions or an attempt at humor, but I haven't seen much in the way of purposeful attempts to steer people in the wrong direction. latracey....you have no idea how much that means to me. So MUCH work behind the scenes to create and preserve this community, and when I read your words--it gives me comfort that my mission is on the right path. THANK YOU. -

Good Grief: No More False Reporting!
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Actually they were presenting it as "fun," like an April Fools joke. Considering how tightly wound as we all are right now? Not funny. And thanks to a couple of moderators for bringing it to my attention. -
Two posts falsely reporting a coaching hire were in poor form to the good people of this forum. It was not "polite and respectful" to this community, but there will not be strikes given to the offenders since....I did not officially have a rule covering it. (Never happened before) A new violation, so on Friday I gotta add it to the others! Rule No. 34 will join the other 33. Geez. I had to deal with three rule violators today in addition to this at 11:00 PM at night. We have such an incredible community, yet I still have to babysit some adults? I do not have time for this nonsense, so the hook just got shorter with people. From the Rules of this Forum: How can I possibly follow all these rules? It is simple; all our rules can be summarized to this: 1) be polite and respectful, 2) keep it clean, and 3) no reference of any kind to politics and you won’t have to worry about the rules at all as over 99.50% of those posting have learned, and do just fine.

(From Oregon Athletics Press Release) EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon forward Taylor Hosendove was granted a waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play immediately for the Ducks. A two-time transfer who played one season at Clemson and two at Georgia State before arriving in Eugene, Hosendove has played in 83 career games and has scored 750 points and grabbed 550 rebounds in her collegiate career. The Atlanta, Ga. native led Georgia State in both scoring and rebounding in each of her two seasons with that program. Hosendove averaged 12.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 2020-21 after putting up 11.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest in 2019-20. She started her collegiate career at Clemson and averaged 4.4 points and 3.1 boards over 32 games with the Tigers in 2018-19.

Buyouts = Liquidated Damages. Hey Lawyers?
Charles Fischer replied to DuckHeart's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well DuckHeart....I've enjoyed your posts, and this is one that perhaps one of the boatload of attorneys that read/post here can offer their thoughts on as well. Quite interesting.. -
C J...you made me laugh! duck023....great to see you join this wonderful community and do post often. WELCOME!

Me too. It is so refreshing on OBD to not have to sort through the nonsense to get to good posts. At OBD...we have a ton of very savvy people, and I love to read their takes. Just so you all know? Part of my strategy from the beginning (just over two months ago is all) was to structure this for the enjoyment and ease of the reader. Over 75% of those who come here, come to just read posts, hence I want to serve them well. And the other 25% that post their opinions? They read too! Thus why I have anal rules about paragraph or reading spaces after every three lines of text and tightening up the bottom of your post. It is all designed for the ease of the reader buzzing through posts. No other forum does this or cares. I am effectively taking my 24 years of experience of being on forums, and taking the publishing knowledge I acquired from FishDuck over the last decade and applying it to a forum. Again, something not done anywhere else... And thank you deschutesduck, as I love your posts and really appreciate you posting news articles.

Yep, the accuracy is never the issue; the problem is the terrible site meltdowns that have occurred in the past here, and other sites due to the responses to those facts that quickly escalate. People can discuss politics everywhere else, but not here. There is the other element people forget; I do not want to know someone's politics, as it will later jade my view of their opinions about the Ducks. So, the less we know about each other in terms of politics, the better. And thank you Desert Duck, and I look forward to your always interesting posts!

Actually....that is the easy part. I talk to OBD members every day and these are all GOOD PEOPLE, who want the same protections from the mean posters that I want. And it really isn't true about the half of 1% of posts being deleted....it is actually much less, (at least lately) even with all the activity. Why? Because we have a ton of GOOD PEOPLE who come here. And they reinforce my belief every day. It is so fun to discuss Our Beloved Ducks with others....disagree completely with some Duck-Buddies, and yet we don't get personal. Such a blessing!

Amen, Duck-Brother. I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to tell someone what I thought of them and their idea, and then it hits me...."Charles, you cannot violate your own rules!" Yet a month ago...I messed up as we all do once in a while. I wrote something snappy to Haywarduck....a friend and moderator I love, and then 15 minutes later realized...."Charles, you idiot...you broke your own rule!" I went back in and saw that too many people had read it, thus I apologized in public and in private to Haywarduck. Being the great guy he is...he brushed it off, accepted it in a heartbeat and life goes on. Just as we do with "regulars" who mess-up on occasion. I need that slack too, and it goes to show...this is not easy, but that is what makes it special. Thanks 1Ducker1!
